How in the name of the wee man are these crapper fetching £4k. I had one in red. Can't be gigged, worst trem ever ever, horrible neck with skinny high frets, body like a child's school project. Vaguely interesting vintage electronics. Why have we become so backward looking. Variaxe is a 1000 times better and it's only based on a yamaha Pacific. Just by one a variaxe and let a 10yr old loose on it with a jigsaw and a pot of house paint and you've bested this pile of shit. Vix made some beautiful guitars loke revelation and phantom and they cost very little. I paid £35 in the 80s and sold it to some bed wetter for £65.
Nope. It's half of an ECC83. The normal channel on this is pretty much identical to a later AC30. No EF86 in the early AC30. The vib/trem channel uses the other half for an extra gain stage vs the later amps. That channel is wonderful. The normal channel is very very normal.
Amazing, this is the first time I've ever heard one! I read about these things about 20 years ago, I've always thought it was highly unique! Supposedly John Lennon was gifted one of these in the 1960s, when they were new. He only played it once or twice, though
Love the foot switch idea, that’s brilliant! :) Hey, speaking of a UL715 I did send you an email about shielding in the 715 circuit. Also, what was the amp cab size in your previous video? That amp sounds awesome!
Hi. The Vox 710 was an all valve amp, as was the smaller 705. It was the 15 to 120 watters that had the solid state front en. I won't be doing any more 710s now. Possibly some 15s at a later date if I get the urge.
Hey, quick question. Is in it a 12 inch speaker or a 15 inch speaker? Also, I also sent you an email about a Power Transformer last night. Great sound on the amp. My UL715 works finally. :)
@@SteveWalsh730 It’s funny. I have a ton of hum in it, which suggests ground loops galore which I have to address. But when I saw that PT and that it had the 25 volt tap on it I knew that that would make it easier for that circuit to be built. I thought about you instantly in that sense. Love the vids, it’s interesting and inspiring. :)
Well only get concerned if you make a new marauder pedal from that circuit. ;) Hey, I have a power supply question about the UL715 if you’re interested in hearing it. I just changed PT’s on it and am not sure where I’m going wrong on this project.
Didn’t Brian Jones play a Vox guitar? There is a certain tone coming from a guitar on “It’s All Over Now” that doesn’t sound like it’s coming from a regular electric guitar.
That is horrible! I think guitar is guitar Bass is bass and bass VI is a great instrument and very useful one! Piano, synth, keyboard 🎹! Nothing can replace that you know? If we talk about drums is different because we have acoustic and electric and that's fine and normal! This instrument is very weird and it's not necessary in fact you know! There's a lot of interesting instruments... Thanks for the video! I really enjoyed it! I mean the video 😂! It's interesting to see instruments be played! Cheers! 👍🏻 🙂
The more bells are whistles the more that can go wrong with it. That's just overkill of buttons, switches, and knobs. And the plectrum needs to be plugged in 🤔🤨
Thanks ! Are you thinking of the 715? They look pretty much identical but totally different circuits. This one is all valve, the 715 transistor preamp, valve power amp..
@AllenGarberGuitarFun the OSO 715 takes the trem channel of the original Vox 715, removes the trem circuit, which is a LED/flashing bulb concoction, makes the distortion variable and adds a master volume. With the master volume on full and the distortion on full, it's essentially electronically the same as the Vox.
My man my man ...!! Did you listen to this video before you put it on the internet and thought wow I should post this??. First off the subject matter is super interesting and I have never seen that pic thing before ..I have seen that guitar a few times but never that super rare accessory. So now, buddy ...you put the cameras mic right in front of the amp.. ensuring your mouth was the farthest thing in the room from the cameras mic.. and you speak some northern British Manchester something or the other..essentially "Greek" to the rest of the world.. I ried to use the captions, they were a bit helpful, but there's no excuse for you having your voice audio that low.. Listen to the video and tell me honestly if you can hear what you are saying.?. then as soon as you demo the guitar wham full volume.. Better if you had the mic by your face and the amp would still pick up just fine. Your probably the only person on the internet to ever do a video on that pic and this is what we get. Oh well be thankful for small mercies.. you have a rare item .. do it justice..
@@Nakkiteline Its not the English although his accent doesn't help .. its the terrible audio he presented to the world..Imagine having one of the rarest items going.. making this video ...watch it and think "I know lets post this to the internet".. Ya his mumbly speech and particular accent combined with the super low audio on his voice makes for a terrible watch.. If you crank it up to hear him speaking: enjoy graping your ears when the guitar kicks in.. Having the ability to notice these things is not a bad thing.. Its shows you care and know better.
@@storytimewithunclekumaran5004 why you gotta be all shitty about it? i can show you a way to nicely give constructive criticism. "hey, nice vid mate! your speaking voice was bit too low compared to the instrument though. i really enjoyed the playing!" no need to be a shitty about it. people can post just as shitty videos they like they don't do it for you. not all people care about quality of some short clip they post in youtube. they just want to post their cool thing and they cannot be expected to have the production quality of the top youtubers which ppl are accustomed to these days. also it's redundant to edit a video this simple when you can just film and post it. CLEARLY he doesn't have separate mic and the camera was pointed at the point where the action happened. if he had followed your instructions you would have complained the cam angle is shitty. also, wasn't any hard to adjust the volume on my headphones so i could hear him well and also not wreck my hearing. also it's quite stupid to waste time complaining in internet and i do not want to waste anymore of my time to you so i'll wrap it up with following; skill issue
Would you ever consider making an in depth video on the internals of the instrument? I know they are very precious instruments but to my knowledge all that exists of them are circuit diagram pdfs and some old photos of the back of the board.
Thanks, My dogs are now traumatized; I have no Idea how to get two sixty pound dogs out from under a couch that has four inch legs with out lifting one end alone. In my early fifty's I wound not have balked but it's one of those fold up sofa-bed things that are stupidly heavy. I 'spose I could hook up a speaker to the sound system and toss it under the couch and play the same awful sounds, and mayhaps they will come shooting out from under there and try to hide elsewhere.; probably somewhere even worse like behind the refrigerator. ;p
