So, it was only for MacOS then, and it doesn't look like a Windows accessible version ever appeared, and now their website says they're closing hosting July 31, 2024.... which is in two days. So um... Is this obsolete now? Since then, Landscape seems to be working, I'm not sure if that's a full replacement/substitute though. Realm looks like it had a lot of features built-in. But as far as a chat platform goes, Landscape gets the job done.

You have put together an interesting essay explaining why you do not find the PKM "craze" out "there" beneficial to you. It is very clear and I understand you. However, there is a slant, a tone, if you will, that is slightly taking away from your message. It is almost as though, "they" are all hacks who should be ignored while your opinion counts more. I believe there is value to everyone's opinion and experience and we can take what we want/need and leave the rest. You do not have to have credentials to have good ideas. Having said that, if I were looking to really learn about a good PKM system for myself, I would not be looking to influencers and content creators on RU-vid or any other social media platform indiscriminately. I would find a better source altogether. But if I come across an idea that sparks my interest in some way and feel it would be beneficial in some way, I can note it and then I can go to the next level of researching that. As far as wanting to have all my knowledge in an "outside" brain, if you will, that is a matter of preference. You say you are a guy who gets very immersed in something and then forget it. And as per the quote, you might have to start from scratch if you ever wanted to look into the topic again. Not everyone wants that. Some people may acknowledge that they will forget as well, but if they have this source of "notes", it will be easier for them to regain the source of their knowledge. As far as the idea of whether a topic emerges by itself from the "knowledge graph": It took me a long time to understand that at all as well. I was (actually I still am) from the school where I start with the idea, research, immerse myself, learn and then write. However, I do understand better now. From the "notes" that have sparked your interest and you have interacted with and expressed insights you gained from them, from these notes, you sometimes realize that there is a kernel of an idea that emerges when seen all together and that starts you in a whole new area/aspect to delve into. So, yes, content doesn't just create itself ever but access to different ways of seeing and remembering your thoughts do spark many new questions and concepts. After all this, I do agree with you, that I do not want to sit and think about where to place a note of mine. I agree with you that SEARCH is the most helpful tool of all and in every system that is useful. I just marvel and cannot comprehend how Nikolas Luhman had this compendium of notes on index cards and somehow referenced them and used them.
