Older white man who grew up in the 60's and 70's loving singer/songwriter easy listening music. Expanding my horizons by listening to music I've never listened to before: Rap, Hip Hop, Punk, Heavy Metal...I want to hear what's good even though it may be out of my usual comfort zone.
If you're interested in their debut album, you should listen and react to the opening track 21st Century Schizoid Man. Their lineup changed constantly, the only common denominator being Robert Fripp (on the far right in the video). The other member of this lineup you might know would he the bassist Tony Levin. He played on Peter Gabriel's first 7 albums and also Peter's latest album I/O. He has been a session musician on hundreds of albums and also has been a member of several bands in addition to King Crimson.
If you didn't know, the chorus with the lady singing is a sample from the song "Thank You" by Dido. Dido herself makes an appearance as the girlfriend in the music video for "Stan"
The more I listen to this the More I feel like it's a cross between industrial and Metal! Kind of like a mixture of 8:04 Front 242 add some other bands I can't think of right now😂
I watched Judas Priest and what an amazing voice and live show, he came on stage riding a Harley-Davidson. Rob Halford is flawless live and still rockin it in 2024 at the age of 73, a true Legend.
Another awesome reaction, thank you. Still a new subscriber and just checking out the rest of your videos. Another great band to check out is *System of a Down - Chop Suey* Thank you ☺👍💯❤
This band is a legend. Iron Maiden is a must react to live, the experience is out of this world. They are the opposite of devil music. Check out *Iron Maiden - Fear Of The Dark (En Vivo!) 4K* thank you, loved your reaction 👍New subscriber.
10:58 Impossible!!! but most likely true. This is the exact album I was wearing out on my turntable back when you and I were buddies back in middle school! I know for a fact that you weren't listening to this because it wasn't even on your radar. I'm sure I probably recommended it to you at the time because I was obsessed anyway, while you're at it listen to the whole album, it's a classic and you should know that!!
They're in a genre called progressive rock. Not just a rock band. LOL. And that's not typical of Rush's music. This was more of them trying to do pop music. Don't get me wrong. This is one of my favorite Rush songs. There is so much more depth to their music in another songs. I suggest their songs limelight, Xanadu, freewill and of course the epic 20-minute song call 2112 off the album of the same name.
I also grew up Pentecostal (Church of God) and was very sheltered. I'm 49 now and it's only been in my 30s and 40s that I started discovering all the wonderful music I had missed!
@@johnord684 I picked it because the internet said it is their best song! But thanks for those suggestions, I will definitely check them out. I want to try another Rush song.
Review any gangster rap if youtube will let you. I do not like this song. I do not respect the black culture. It is violent and un-American. This dude is copying Too Short from the 80's.
Middle class Aussie white mum here who has always loved heavy rock. But this song, which was my introduction to hip hop, absolutely blew my 34 yr old brain when it came out. It will always be one of my favourite songs of all time, no matter the genre!!
Thanks, I will! I definitely need to hear more and get acquainted with this classic band. Like I said, I know TOMMY, but only from the people singing it on Broadway. i really did love this song!
@@citywoof The early stuff is just raw talent on display. For example, "Out In The Street", "Much Too Much", "It's Not True." Tommy, is experienced polished musical craftsmanship.
my father was at a concert of this band, when they only filled the hall with only a few dozen people and he showed me this group, I am very glad that they are now so popular
Howard Stern loves to stir the pot about who the best rock drummer of all time was, but he is completely ignorant. Hands down, its Professor Peart. He laid the beats and wrote most of the lyrics and music. We lost a genius, but he will never be forgotten.
To see the diversity of Metallica...try reacting to One. The official video. Tells the story of a young man in WW1 that is tragically wounded by a mortar/landmine. He loses his arms, legs, sight, hearing and speech. Only way he can figure out to communicate is by nodding his head using Morse Code. He feels trapped within his own mind. The movie out takes are from "Johnny got his gun". Very enlightening movie about war. Keep up the great reactions!
I'm sure among the 533 likes someone has told you they are a great Rock Band Trio From Toronto. In there many years together their was only 1 line up change. Very early in the bands life (not sure if it was before their first album or not, but Geddy Lee stepped in as the Bass player, Keyboardist and lead singer. The Drummer Neil Peart (RIP) is considered one of the greatest rock band drummers ever (1 or 2), He also wrote most if not all the bands lyrics. He was know for multiple time and key changes in a song. Sometimes as many as 12. They drew crowds in the 10's of thousands in their 50 yrs performance career. Even though there were inducted into the Rock and Roll of fame, they never had a song break into the top 80 of the Billboard Charts. Neil battling a terminal illness recorded about 10 minutes of drum tracks for a buddy and then collapsed and within 2 hr's later was dead. Definitely one of the leaders in Progressive Rock!
