Connie, you're a gem. I remember having one of your recordings loud enough for me to listen while I washed windows at a restaurant. I held the door open for a gent who was entering. But he just stood there. I asked him why. He said he was listening to the music.
Connie, we sang this when I was in chorus in college, and hearing it brings back fond memories. It’s a beautiful rendition, and I love the photo-bomb from Levi! Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas to you and yours.
Ubi Caritas Translation by Laurent & Vanessa Weichberger (August 23, 2020) God is present where there is charity and love We come together as one in the love of Christ Rejoice, celebrate, and be merry Let us love and revere the living God. We love each other purely from the heart. God is present where there is charity and love Simultaneously we are gathered together as one. Take care, don’t let thoughts separate us. Stop these toxic fights and struggles, stop arguing. And may our anointed one, Christ our God, be at the center. God is present where there is charity and love Simultaneously also let us behold the blessed ones. The splendor of Christ our God, Your glorious face! Limitless joy which is honest and good. Eternally the infinite eternal, amen.
Beautiful, Connie. I met you back in Oct. 79 when you were in Denver Locke with my very good friend Gary Snow and playing at the Miner's Exchange in Idaho City. I was in Dogwater, and we were following you into that venue. I've been a big fan since then, and especially since you started your career with Celtic folk music.
That was absolutely beautiful!!! I love your music and to me yours is the most exquisite voice on the planet. A very Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to you!!!
Hi - It’s some thing I think about a lot. Because I was born in Arkansas and raised in Missouri, I believe it sounds more natural for me to sing as who I am. As you can tell, I’ve cherry picked where I Anglicize and where I don’t - I sure don’t use “twa” in every day conversation - but I thought singing making a “main” might be a bit less accessible. I Love the full-blown Scottish interpretation, but I steer clear of that a bit when I sing. Short question - long answer!
Dear Benjamin, Thank you for your kind words. It's interesting how these kinds of songs and images, when woven together, can be so deeply moving. May you continue to be inspired.
@@conniedovermusic Thanks Connie. I guess I first learned about you from the Thistle and Shamrock on Public Radio. Perhaps it was in the 90's? I think it was the first time I caught that show and the best. I believe I was a teenager at the time. I just know it's been half my life now. I'm singing some these songs myself to my children now with my Baritone Uke in hand, or else playing them on my Quena. Likewise be inspired. Your music and voice has touched many lives. Benjamin
to all suffering in the Ukraine to the losses of Father;s sons sisters Mother's and children. I pray God's comfort finds you and delivers comfort on the will of the Holy Spirit. This is the English translation of the Lyrics. God save the people of the Ukraine and elsewhere where suffering is caused.. Where charity and love are, there God is. The love of Christ has gathered us into one. Let us exult, and in Him be joyful. Let us fear and let us love the living God. And from a sincere heart let us love each other (and Him). Where charity and love are, there God is. Therefore, whensoever we are gathered as one: Lest we in mind be divided, let us beware. Let cease malicious quarrels, let strife give way. And in the midst of us be Christ our God. Where charity and love are, there God is. Together also with the blessed may we see, Gloriously, Thy countenance, O Christ our God: A joy which is immense, and also approved: Through infinite ages of ages. Amen.
Connie, you always hit it out of the park. Thank you for sharing your talent with us! BTW, that is a beautiful scene as well. I had heard of White Sands but I don’t recall ever seeing pictures.
