Videos like this are like a time capsule, and you can't put a price on memories. I was probably around 11 years old when this was filmed and I wish that I'd had the kind of technology back then that we have now to have been able to record many things that I saw as a youngster. Without videos like this, it would be just a memory but this brings back my own experiences of the 50's in the early 90's hammering up the bank from Exeter St Davids to Exeter Central. The quality of the sound is a credit to you, and what a sound it is- reminds me of a machine gun. Bloody brilliant!
Axminster railway 🚃 station 🚉 is in east Devon in the southwest of England 🏴 that now has two platforms since December 2009 because it’s to allow both trains 🚆 🚊 🚂 pass each other at the same time 🕰️. Now Axminster has 2 tracks 🛤️ 🛤️ . It’s all good 👍. Other railway 🚃 stations 🚉 have a multiple track 🛤️ 🛤️ is between Exeter and Salisbury is Exeter St Davids, Exeter Central, Pinhoe, Honiton, Axminster, Yeovil Junction, Sherborne, Gillingham (Dorset) and finally Salisbury and the rest of the stations 🚉 beyond west of Salisbury is double to multiple track 🛤️ 🛤️ 🛤️. Then single track 🛤️ happens to be is Whimple, Cranbrook, Feniton, Crewkerne, Templecombe and finally Tisbury. I think 🤔 it’s because Richard Beeching wanted to get rid of the one ☝️ railway 🚃 track 🛤️ and reduce to a single track 🛤️ . Never 👎 mind, what’s done ✅ is done ✔️. It’s water 💦 under the bridge 🌁. Can’t do anything about it. Oh well, when SWR - South Western Railway 🚃 passengers use the train 🚊, they’ll have to face a single railway 🚃 track 🛤️ on the line is between Pinhoe and approaching Salisbury via Honiton and Yeovil Junction everyday. 👍👍👍
Super video, that’s me at 13:25 with my Three year old son Jonathan in the orange shirt about to get onboard for an hour in Kent . What a lovely memory .
Hi Allan - I have what you might consider a slightly left-field request. 🙂 I'm an amateur musician and have an album coming out on a small subscription label later in the year. One of the tracks is called 'Class 47' and is a tune inspired by my memories of the trains I used in the 80s and often saw running along the tracks at the top of our school field. I really want to do a video for the song - it'd be so evocative. Your video here would be *just perfect* to take clips from to use for that - I was wondering if I could have your permission to do that? I'd be more than happy to attribute where the video came from at the end of the video and provide a link back to this page in the description etc. Happy to send you a link to the tune if you want to check it out before you commit to being associated with it 😉
@@ajt7027 Hi Allan - it’s taken a while, but the track was released recently. Here’s the video I did using clips from yours - thanks again! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-JDCH8c5ndzE.html
These Locos would regularly cover 1000 miles in 24 hours. Pz to Padd, Padd to Swansea, Swansea to Padd, then Padd to Pz. A class 50 would work the first train from Pz the 05.07 “Golden Hind” and back with the last down train, arriving around 23.30.
Always admired the 47's. Great design. Powerful, reliable work horses. Jacks of all trades, and still in active service. Around 30 years old around the time of these valuable films, and the undisputed kings of clag, bless em'.
