Hello! Thanks for this video. Question: I have an IPhone 15 pro and I’m using the kondor blue card reader for a CFEXPRESS Pro SE type B card that is 1TB. This set up is used for an iPhone 15. I can’t format it with my iPhone. I think I have to format it with a Mac or a Pc. However, in many videos, I hear that you’re supposed to format it with the device you intend to use it on. Like a camera 🎥 or 📸. How is that possible to format the card on a Mac and then use it with my phone without using my phone to format it with? Pretty new to all this. Would greatly appreciate any tips or knowledge you have on this!
In this specific instance formatting on the Mac is what you would want to do as the iPhone does not have that option and Kondor Blue has set it up to function that way. You’ll want to open Disk Utility on your Mac. Select your Card. At the top select Erase. In this window you can choose the format to reformat to, you want to select either APFS or EXFAT as recommended by Kondor Blue. Then select erase. That is how you can do it on a Mac, there might be third party applications that can do this as well and might make the process easier but that’s the method you can start with.

I guess not many people are yet using the CFexpress set up with their iPhone 15 pro to shoot video with… I haven’t been able to find a video on this specific set up to get clarity on this. Nice video. (In the Develope Module)..Lightroom all of a sudden is closing an editing panel as soon as I open another panel. How do I turn this auto-close feature off? It is slowing me down to constantly reopen panels. Thanks in advance. Phil
Great question. Take a look at the triangles that open and close them. You are probably seeing a dotted triangle. That symbolizes the auto close. Option/Alt click the triangle and you’ll see it change to a solid triangle. This will allow you to manually open and close panels as you wish.
Great video. I am considering buying a medium format digital camera. The camera comes with a native 33x44mm image size which is a 4:3 aspect ratio. The camera offers a cropped 24x36mm image size which is a 3:2 aspect ratio. However, I want to create a custom cropped image size of 27x36mm which is a 4:3 aspect ratio. As far as I know, custom cropped image sizes and aspect ratios are not yet an available feature.
True, as far as I know not an available feature, but that would be such a helpful thing especially if you are doing panorama cropping or square. Having the ability to make your own custom ones would be great especially when developing one’s style/voice as an artist. Hopefully the camera companies are reading these comments.
Ha! Just done the same with 4040 extruded aluminum single vertical piece rigidly held on a ply 15mm thick 24" x 24" baseboad. All parts were from ALIexpress...and cheaper than UK dealer by far.. (Think the 4040 a bit overkill)..3030 would do for a lightweight englarger such as the Intrepid 35mm/120 for instance...Slider I fitted with 4 runner wheels and brake knob. .I have an idea that might work for the slider to prevent a sudden drop...attach a wire to slider over the top down the other side to a lheavy weight running in the grove at the rear...Much check out the local plumber for lead! 🤣
I can't seem to find a video (or Adobe info) on how to create a LrC on a new computer to replace a "broken" computer. Since I have two Apple computers and one is broken and both have LrC with different photos, I can't seem to get the new computer to "accept" a new LrC. Adobe keeps sending me an e-mail to get me to buy another Adobe LrC. Is there a simple way? Do you have a video?
I have my LR CAT aand all pics on the external drive. I have all of this also backedup in three places. Now when I travel with laptop Can't I just open the CAT file on laptop after plugging the HD in to the laptop? On my trip I import all photos I took like normal on that HD. When I get home I connect that drive to my main system and all should work the same??????
You can work from an external drive. Best if it’s an SSD connected via usb-c or something with similar speeds. I would regularly back up everything on that drive though, I personally feel that this is a bit more risky and would want to insure everything is safe.
You can crop a photo of any orientation to any ratio. You would just need to crop in much tighter. Be aware that you’ll decrease resolution the tighter you go.
I edit my images in Lightroom and sometimes export it to Photoshop for more edits, then finalize it by exporting in Lightroom as an sRGB file since my images are printed by Mpix (which uses sRGB) or are displayed on my Zenfolio web site. Since I'm exporting all my images in sRGB does it also make sense to set the color mode in my Dell u2413 monitor to sRGB mode for editing images in Lightroom & Photoshop? Thanks and great video.
I’m using A canon camera and Adobe Bridge software along with photo mechanics. Is there anyway to get cannons in camera ratings to show up in either photo mechanic or Adobe bridge?
Having matched the image using the X Rite colour checker, why do you feel it necessary to tweak the colours. Surely it's more likely at this point that your monitor is inaccurate and not the image file.
Good stuff ! My first lessons in my photography degree course were in setting up for copying using a 5x4 camera. (BORING !!) Sounds straightforward but the devil is in the detail ! Most important, after you have correctly setup the lighting, is the 'keystone effect', and it's not always easy to get it right. One little tip I can give you is one I discovered several years later ... place a good sized (10x10inches) mirror on the stand you are going to put the artwork, then when you view with the camera ensure that the reflection of the camera is exactly centre in the view finder frame... make sense ? You probably have to try it to see what I mean !
I sometimes assign Adobe RGB to my SRGB images because I like how it looks in some cases, I use it like a fast way of increasing the vibrance and the results are also very consistent, been trying to do it for videos inside of PS but it looks like it doesn't like it, no idea why
I had to send album to a client so they could add comments to certain images. Also to one client so they could down load the images. Can I do this with collections. I just realize I can only do this with the regular Lightroom to make an album I can share.

If I order a customer profile, can I have it with a custom name? ie something simple like Canson Plantine Fiber Rag with no other characters or numbers in the name and just the standard extension?

Normally what we would do is use some of the information in the “Profile Detail” section of the form you fill out for the name of the profile. But if there is something specific you would like you can request that in the “Other Details” section and then we can name it whatever you’d like.
Nice tip on the corner trick. Since I sign my prints (as taught in a workshop at Ansel Adams Gallery), I need a 0.75" white border on all four sides. I struggle to get that border consistently and accurately despite the scale and grid. I would like to see you demo that in a future video. Thanks!
