I think people have the wrong idea about self-improvement. Men walk around witht his idea that they are unworthy if they are not a well-groomed, ripped, 6 figure earner and it leads to self-improvement. But at that point you don't do it for yourself, but for validation. I feel like what self-improvement is missing is selflove. Don't go to the gym and eat healthy because you wanna get smoking hot and impress all the females, go to the gym and eat healthy because it grants good health and serotonin and you deserve to be happy and healthy. Besides, women are not even necessarily attracted to a muscular body. They're not a hivemind. Don't isolate yourself because you feel like your social skills need to be at the level of some playboy womanizer. Who says you need to be? Go out there and interact with people and be nice to yourself if you were awkard or messed up. No need to beat yourself up about that. I know it's scary, but you got this. You deserve to be loved, you deserve to be happy and you deserve to be part of a community who cares for you and accepts you for who you are. Do self-improvement because you want it, not because you think you are unworthy or unlovable if you don't.
That's so smart. I've never thought about it this way. I did a 1 minute and 50 seconds plank and kept making thumbnails, for my freelancing. One day i started journaling every day and life became like a video game. All the procrastination went away and i got addicted to improving my life. I still am. I get a high from improving. I advice everyone to start writing down what they need to do the next day and actually do it. Then tick it off. It will change your life trust me.
Read the book "The War of Art" by Steven Pressfield. Great book on what the "resistance" we all feel when we have work we need to do and how to combat it.
People also associate watching "self improvement" content with improving. This is also a vice. Theorize and conceptualize all you want, actions are what really set things in motion. The hardest step is the first, the momentum from the first step will help with the second and so on.
I felt alienated after you said not cold calling meant you weren’t cut out for success. I zoned out for the remainder of the video trying to muster up the courage and after it, called up a marketing agency and got a new potential long-term gig. The first cold call I’ve ever made ever, using the “I have something to sell you,” starter you used. It works. Thank you Charlie. You are living out your purpose you stated in another video. Looking forward to seeing where it takes you.
I never comment but I love this video so much. Your philosophical approach to self-mastery / wealth appeals to me much more than 99% of the other styles out there. Thank you so much for this
What you described isn't self-improvement, it's lying to yourself. Meditation and journaling are important for keeping you accountable to your goals and tracking your mental state, and justifying your bad habits by saying 'at least I'm writing about it' defeats the whole point. I get what you're saying, but although self-reflection isn't the only facet to self-improvement (duh), it is an important part that shouldn't be neglected.
The reason why self improvement doesnt work for you is because youre already a successful millionaire with everything in place. Self improvement are for those who have everything to improve, which is the majority of people. Meditation helps therm become aware they are degenrates, journalling helps them claify their purpose, physical fitness makes them more aware of what they are eating, and this helps lead them in a better direction. I bet when you were a degenrate (which we all were at one point), you never openly hated self improvement, it would make you look stupid. But from where you're standing now, you feel you can.
I did it Charlie. You've told that I should have cold called someone even if I didn't sell anything. I procrastinated the thing for 5 minutes using the excuse "Oh, I still don't have a business and I have nothing to sell" but after that I've realized that voice was my version 1, so I did it. The conversation was awkward and I stuttered because of the fear, but I did it! Thank you Charlie
I have no product and I just did a cold call and felt so much resistance it went horribly but I feel good I actually tried (I just stuttered a bunch and asked what was the number one problem they face). Edit: I’m still shaking
The rash of youtubers telling people to stop using social media is hilariously hypocritical and transparent, and yet the comment sections praise it like it will solve their problems.
So just because you used habits typically assosciated with "self improvement" as a coping mechanism and excuse for continuing your bad habits, that means you hate self improvement? Absolutely abyssmal take. And yes I watched the video and understand it's a clickbait title but still while you have a few valid points it's still a really bad take.
To tell someone that they don’t need to meditate, read, journal or improve essentially discourages people from doing what I would argue to be very important habits of successful people. Whether or not is needed is one thing, but to include that in this video to discourage people from doing it seems unintelligent in my opinion.
Damn. I've been watching videos for months and nothing has come as close to teaching me what I need to know as this one. Thank you Charlie! You've gained another follower with just one video 🎉😊
I think the amount of fulfillment and joy you can extract from work and a higher purpose is unmatched. But rewarding yourself with a nice car and vacation and whatever you desire is something you should not be actively avoiding. A healthy mix - on the lower end - is probably best
Hey Charlie, thank you for this video and your work. It reflects parts of my life that I'm going through right now and helped me ground myself and stay focused on the journey ahead. Thank you, have a great day! Cheers
I'm a bit confused as to how to develop the skill of malleability I'm regards to having a video production agency, I do video editing and videography (video editing I intend to outsource) but I don't really understand how to change to become the person that is successful with this business model. Could anyone help me?🤗
I truly despise that initially good term, self-improvement, was perverted by all of these manosphere assholes. Their "self-improvement" ends up on getting expensive cars, watch, sex, smoking cigars, and visiting Dubai (Dubai for them is like Mecca for muslims). Materialistic hedonism is their main goal. Remember, the main goal of the real self-improvement is to elevate spirit, mind and body.
