❤Lucinda that was a sweet interview, I wanna read her book now. Yes certain bars really are little communities, I have one in my town that is very warm feeling.
What a great interview and I agree with Lucinda. A great interviewer. Kind , considerate , thoughtful , insightful , passionate and a soft speaking voice. Good going !
Will you please top interrupting when she is finishing her points, and she is reflecting fully and maybe wanting to add further info. Please check people such as Rick Beato for the way to allow your guest to share their thoughts fully. My 2c
thank you. i kept thinking this is not a good time for rw's massive ego to come out. she seemed to try holding it in but at the worst possible times, she can't help herself. it's bad enough when she has to finish others' sentences and tell them what they really mean rather than what the guest is actually saying. but to start correcting and interrupting someone working to overcome a serious stroke is just ego run-amuck in the worst. rw has surrounded herself with only people who will tell her she is the greatest - and that level of self-importance has run a once proud station into the ground. for years you could request lu's songs till blue in the face and she was no longer hearing any of it. give her the chance to do an interview, however, and she suddenly loves the guest's work and jumps on the chance to tell the guest just how great rw is. it is an act that ran thin years ago. what a missed chance to hear a painfully shy and deeply introspective writer open up. the interviewer is so full of herself, unfortunately, that she couldn't see that in front of her.
Great interview. I too discovered Lu as the Rough Trade album came out. One night I was in the garage wrenching on my car and listening to a small public radio station when the DJ chose to play the album straight through. By the second song, I stopped, went to my living room, turned the stereo on and sat transfixed. Not long after I saw Lu in a tiny venue (with the great Gurf Morlix on guitar) and actually snuck out back during break and there she was and I got a chance to tell her how bowled over I was with her music. It's been a 30+ year love affair since.
One man, a guitar & songs with lyrics that summon up emotions that we keep buried deep within our psyche on a day to day level. Matt Houck is an amazing songwriter, story teller & performer & I'm so looking seeing him perform later this year.
Great interview Rosemary! Just experienced Lucinda Williams at Ponte Vedra Concert Hall, she is amazing in person. The music and lyrics in every song are so beautiful, you don't want the song to end. Lucinda you are impressive, as is your band! Thanks for a great evening Queen Lucinda, keep on rockin!
I love Olivia. The songs she writes from her heart speak to the heart of so many. Big Sad and I Love You Just for Trying are on repeat in my home. She’s just amazing! ♥️
I’m just getting into & learning about Bully. I love her voice. Found out about them from a documentary about The Breeders that I watched earlier tonight. That Strat/Tele mashup she’s playing is really cool. What is it? Anyone know? It says something on the headstock, right in the middle, but I couldn’t make it out because it blurred too much when I zoomed in enough to try and read it. 😐
Why I don't listen to the shit they play on the radio saw them at bogarts in Cincinnati a couple of years ago one of the tightest playing bands out there truly a American treasure
The hardest working man in the business. I missed DSOTMule but i saw them play One Of These Days & Fearless last year at a normal Mule show. Im only 22 but i love all the classic rock covers, last time they played everything from Hendrix to CCR. Come back thru Missouri soon we love Warren & Mule!!!
I saw many, many shows at the "Igloo, Home of the "Pittsburgh Penguins. Saw everyone from Accept to ZZ Top. Good times, now blurry memories. 🤘😝🤘😙💨🍻🎶🎸🥁🎹🎤✌️
Wow, this is so good. The songs work really well just stripped down to vocals and guitar and there's still a ton of dynamics. It's difficult to reconcile that she had to go through something so tough to produce something so universally beautiful.
I literally only just discovered him, so I saw him mature in a very short time. Great music and adorable personality. Along with New Zealand artist Marlon Williams my best discovery of the past years. Thanks to RU-vid for suggesting. And very nice interview too.
