Taking walks in the center of San Jose in Costa Rica is safe, it is not Switzerland, it is not as dangerous as some places in Brooklyn (N.Y.) or Mexico City in Mexico, there are also homeless people and some muggers, who bother tourists a little but there are a lot police like in those cities. The normal of the modern world. Obviously you are not going to take out and reveal all your money in the middle of the street. You just have to be careful as in any capital city in the USA.
The problem is that you didn't have someone to guide you on what to see... If I had guided you, you would have seen fantastic things...The old Roman city of Duklju, the hill of Gorica with its monument, the Catholic cathedral in Brutalist style Church of the Holy Heart of Jesus , the Plantaze 13 July vineyard, the largest single vineyard in Europe, with a tasting center etc....Podgorica is not the center of the city, a few kilometers away in that municipality there are many other things to see, such as the canyon of the river Cijevna, Lake Skadar and the historical town of Medun...Google-Duklja Podgorica, Plantaze 13 July vineyard, Medun, Cijevna, Catholic cathedral in Brutalist style Church of the Holy Heart of Jesus, Scadar Lake, Zabljak Crnojevica ...All in Podgorica or Podgorica municipality...
@@exploringplanethome You don't go to Rome just once if you don't spread out well. There because there are too many things to see, in Podgorica because there is little to see, but there is still somewhere.
This was fun to watch before and after our visit to Macedonia! Unfortunately we didn't found a zelnik. The rest is crossed of our list, plus many more veggie meals!
Thanks for watching! Glad you guys enjoyed Macedonia! We would love to go back someday. We had so much fun in Skopje, and we really enjoyed all the veggie food we tried. One of the best countries in that part of the world in our oppinion
Thank you for sharing your experience. We are planning to visit and prefer to arrive early. Can you please share the name of the tour company? How many in a group too?
Thank you so much for your kind words, we really appreciate it! Luxor sure was great! There is something special about walking around the historical sites, and we wish we had more time to explore the area!
The place where you sheltered from the rain is actually the jade museum and the first floor is free. The green fruit is not a root. And it was not ripe. It's called a june plum (yuplon in spanish)
Hi! Thanks for watching! Too bad we diden't know that it was a museum - would have been more fun to visit it, than just sheltering from the rain! The Yuplon is an aquired taste! Maybe we just haven't had enough yuplon to appreciate it :)
At 1:06 -- Looks like loofah to me. It's a gourd (same family as cucumbers and squash), /Luffa cylindrica/, which is dried, peeled and used as a scrubbing sponge. In reply to @MrEedelgad and @fraggas49 -- is "paste" the Costa Rican name for the plant? Or the plant product? At 1:19, 1:50 and 9:20, the hairy red fruit -- I concur, it's a rambutan (/Nephelium lappaceum/, native to Malaysia, a member of the soapberry family). In the bins to the left are dragon fruit (red, a.k.a. pitaya /Stenocereus sp./ or pitahaya /Selenicereus sp./) and granadilla (yellow, /Passiflora ligularis/).
I loved your video... nice work! ( I know that making videos isn't easy- 30+ year veteran of the TV and film industry) It might help me to know where you're coming from... my guess is, maybe dutch? Anyway, I'd like to know your perspective. For example, I thought the Amsterdam beer scene was better than here in the USA - though we do have some great breweries, My point is, if you're coming from a place with a great beer culture, I might better understand your ratings. ( there's personal preference, too.. myself, I don't care for kriek or sours, but love IPAs and big beers. I'd like to know what you prefer.) I'm headed to Lisbon in March- thanks for your opinions.
Thanks for watching, and thanks for your kind words! We really appreciate it! You're close - we are from Sweden, so our accent is pretty similar to the dutch. Being Swedes, we are spoiled with a great beer scene. There are a micro brewery in every street corner :) Enjoy Lisbon! It's such a great city, even without the beer places :)
@@exploringplanethome Thanks- it gives a good baseline for your rating system (and I need to visit Sweden to REALLY get it... it's on my list.) Whenever I travel, I'm usually having such a good time that every beer I try is either a 4.8 or above. Cheers!
Hi there! Thanks for watching, we really appreciate it :) Not 100% sure, but we suspect that a salad had something to do with it. Fortunately, it only lasted for half a day, but those hours felt like a week 😅
Absolutely agree! We are thinking of doing another vlog about top things to see/do in Malaga. If you have any suggestions of what to include, just let us know :)
The sponge is known as "paste" some people use it to scrub their bodies when they bathe. The first fruit is known as "uchuva" and is attributed aphrodisiac properties. The second fruit is known as "Chinese mamón". And the third fruit is known as "yuplón", its acidity lies in the peel, it is customary to eat it with salt and without the peel. Excellent video, thank you very much. 🇨🇷
Thanks for watching, and for your kind words - we really appreciate it! To bad we diden't know that we should eat the yuplón peeled and with salt. Would have been a different rating if we knew 😂
The thing is, Podgorica was architecturally massacred after WWII. The post-war renovations were intended to create a utopic idealised socialist city with concrete residential blocks and so not much of the old charm remained. There is also the problem of illegal, "wild" construction which is not only destroying the city but also the nature. If you want to see what Podgorica looked like before the war google "Podgorica stare slike" ("old images of Podgorica")
First of all: Thanks for watching! Just browsed through the images of old Podgorica, and the difference is striking. Devastating to see the scars of war in any city :(
I have planned an 8-day itinerary of Montenegro for early October. The only part of Podgorica I intend to visit (and photograph) is the airport train station ("Aerodrom"). It looks utterly amazing - two benches in a small hut with a hand-painted sign on the front!. Other than that, I'm not wasting any time in this city. Sorry!
Hi! Thanks for watching :) You are making the right decision. Montenegro is beautiful (at least the parts we saw), but skipping Podgorica is probably a good idea
Hi, very nice video. The ambulance is for people that couldn’t travel up to the volcano view, they help usually very old people or people that have injuries and It’s hard for them to move to that place. Kind regards from Costa Rica. Pura vida!! 👍👍
@@yitoleon la semilla de yuplon es diferente, en otros países le llaman manzana dorada o manzana de oro al yuplon, y el nombre yuplon viene de yew plum que es ciruela judia
