Would it be good to combine copper sulphate , epsom salts , baking soda and hydrogen peroxide in a swimming pool . ..... ? For a healthy / safe way to keep a pool clean ?
Thanks, man, this helped. I opened it up and was able to confirm that the bearing had failed on mine as well. Time to order that $27 part (inflation I guess).
Hi pls I just bought this coper sulphate but don't really know how to apply it . In my pool I am using chlorine, pH and aluminum sulphate as flocculant .please I need help on how to add the coper sulphate my pool is 200,000 litters
I had a 20,000 gallon pool. I bought a product called "Root Killer" . It is 99% copper sulphate. Read the product warnings. I put 2 table spoons in my skimmer. It will stain plastic blue. You can mix it in a jar with a lid and shake it up then pour it in the skimmer. I bought copper test strips at the pool store. .05 to 1 part per million is ok for "potable water" that is drinking water. High concentration of copper sulfate just like anything else can kill you. Diluted is ok. Farmers put this in ponds and cattle drinking pools to kill algae. There are many products. Look up "Copper sulphate algaecide" you don't need much. I only used small amounts. More will turn your pool blue. Use at your own risk. Also I have seen research that says chlorine is a carcinogen. My opinion is that copper is a better algeaside, and I would also use some chlorine to kill bacteria.
Another great thing is when I pull it on to my utility trailer the bumper is the same height as my rails on the trailer. Then I just tie bumper to the trailer
I took it apart... It was the Bearing in the pump I replaced 3 years ago. Bought a new one on Amazon for $26 next day delivery. layed machine on front. Didn't disconnect anything. Opened back access panel. Took belt off by hand, 2 hose Clamps 3 bolts. 15-20 minutes
BTW I added the angle iron for the front bumper/ Brush guard piece. Drilled 2 holes, bolted on. Make sure to GRIND down corners of the angle iron. I cut the shit out of my arm.
It is holding up great. Now I need to figure out my mower belt problems. The factory 96 inch belt is too long keeps coming off. 92 inch belt was too short. I'm going to buy a 94 and see if that fixes it.
thanks so very much....this has been very helpful as I had the same problem with a tunturi c3 that I've had for years and do not want to purchase another!
Thanks, im over in spain, ive just added a pound, 500grams, of copper sulphate to the pool, its 10 x 4 metres, so 33 x 13 feet. 60, 000 litres, so 13, 000 gallons. Is this the correct amount, do i need to add more during the summer ??
Sounds like way too much! Another commenter said they added 8 teaspoons in a 15,000 gallon pool and that worked for them. Too much is unhealthy. Get test strips and make sure your levels are at .5-1ppm. Not more.
Funny that you mention that. I had a bent push rod. The exhaust valve guide backed out of the head. Locked up the valve and bent a push rod. I watched a RU-vid video and fixed it. Straightned
I have an 12000 gallon above ground pool and I have been reading all I can find about copper sulfate. I purchased some Zeps root killer and put about half the container in because my pool after spending HUNDREDS was STILL turning green. My question is do You think I put too much? I just put it in this morning. I plan to order test strips. Can you please text me at (225) 921-8677? I really could use some info on this. I often get lost in internet land and can never find my way back to see if anyone answers me lol. Thanks, Julie
julie masterson I only put a few ounces in my 30000 gallon pool. Yes I think you put too much in. I'm no expert. But I do know you can get test strip at pool stores. The epa recommends 1 part per million or less for drinking water. You won't have any algae but I wouldn't drink it.... you probably only needed a couple of table spoons. Is you water blue?
Oh ! I was talking to the another guy and he said put 2 pounds on the first time! I put half of 32 ounces. Now I don't know what to do :( I have small grandkids that swim in it. I had started off with 2 tablespoons yesterday and this morning the bottom had a dark green layer on it so I vacuumed it and brushed it and that's when I added half the bottle. as of right now it is still a light green. I have ordered test strips so I guess I wont let anyone in until I can test it. What if there is way too much? Do I have to drain some?????
julie masterson I think you should make sure your PH is right also. I think that if you mix a dose of chlorine in it will be a little cloudy. Maybe you should Floc and turn off the pump and let the algae settle to the bottom and vacume out the dead algea.... also back wash your filter.
OK, my pool is off wack. With today's stabilizer, shock and ph+ additions I should be in the green area with everything. My back yard is a freaking jungle and after every rain the pool turns from crystal clear water to swamp over night. I have auto chlorinating and I test it on a regular schedule but it still goes out of wack. I was told about this Copper sulfate. I literally went to the store and bought what you guys said: Root Killer by ZEP its 99% copper sulfate. However its in crystal form, what do I do? Do I disolve it in water then add to the pool or to I just add the 8-16 tbsp of it to my pool directly? Can you guys please elaborate
rrbigdan1 I have seen jugs of 10 teaspoons of C.S. mixed in water for sale for $20 bucks. so Yes you can mix the crystal in water and let it desolve. or I put it in my skimmer. the Crystals will stain white plastic blue so it's good to desolve in water, or if you don't care you can put it in your skimmer basket, or pull the basket out and put them into your intake pipe. I liked doing that bc it put out a blue cloud out the jets. you will be amazed. P.S. remember it's toxic in high concentration, [crystal form] so don't eat it. or let it absorb into your skin.
Pour 2 cups of crystals in clear gallon jug. Copper S will dissolve to a 20 percent solution. Pour off the liquid and you have your product ready to use. Get some test strips (aquarium supply) and add 1/2 cup a day until you reach .5 or .75 ppm. That's it.
I remember when i worked for sprint and we had to sell these phones for around 500.00 but what most ppl did not know is that sprint worked close with US marshals and law enforcement and the dept. that i was in we had to give any law agency's info on user data when requested and a lot of the time it made the phone act up because of the back-doors that are on it. Sprint over charged costumers for this phone they called the "iphone killer" but in the end sprint made tons of money and costumers got the rugged pulled under them.
Ray So It took a few days to clear up for my pool at 0.5 PPM copper. I kept the pH under 7.8 to reduce staining and ran the pump for 10 hours per day cleaning the cartridge filter each day. I have both high calcium and stabilizer levels from using trichlor tabs and calcium hypochlorite for too long of a time. Reportedly both interfere with the copper sulfate performance. Maybe that is why it took a few days to clear up.
copper's not a " heavy metal " . ..... lead , mercury are examples of heavy metals. These are called heavy metals because they are very difficult to remove from the body and can accumulate and cause . ....death . Copper can leave the body . One can even become copper deficient.
Sorry the "people" weren't a bit more tactful. Some are just plain idiots. Anyway, I have a 17.5 hp ohv intek on an old mower I picked up and wondering about all of the wiring harness that I'd like to remove because I want to build a bush hog with it. Any suggestions.
Sharing my experience: I´d heard about copper sulfate long long time ago, but I had never tryied it until last year. The reason, prior two seasons were a real nigthmare with algae, even using the same chemicals than I always did. Before using copper sulfate I read a lot about it to learn pros and cons and the way to use it. I have to say that finally I´m happy; my pool never ever was this crystal clear, and I never spent less money in maintenance. Is copper poissonous? Of course it is. Chlorine is poissonous as well, and you need it for your pool. It all depends on the concentration. Copper can be unsafe over 2 ppm, or have side effects mentioned such wall staining or "green hair" over 1 ppm; but you just need not even .5 ppm to keep algae away. Also, wall staining is when you combine high concentration of copper with high concentration of chlorine. But it turns out that copper sulfate allows you to use less chlorine, and, over all, you don´t need to shock the pool. You also need less filtration hours. Copper sulfate is cheap, and you save a lot on maintenance. How did I get the correct dosage? With a teaspoon and copper test strips. For a small 15,000 gallons pool first I used two teaspoons of copper sulfate, and not big difference next day. Another two teaspoons, and much better next day. Every time I added sulfate, I tested to make sure not going over .5 ppm. Finally, after eight teaspoons the water was better than ever before, and the test strip showed a level of copper wide below .5 ppm. After that you don´t have to add sulfate every now and then. Just one teaspoon a month, and test. After a year this way, walls are clean, my grey hair is not turning green, but white (that´s not copper sulfate´s fault), and I am happier than ever.
See it works. Copper kills algea. Chlorine causes cancer. The FDA allows/ recomends .5 to 1 parts per million of copper in drinking water. Test strip for copper are sold at pool and spa stores.
Ricardo Calvo Thank you for this detailed confirmation on using copper sulfate and and also the information about staining. What is your typical pH and total alkalinity? I would really like to know that too.
Park it in front of a troy built or briggs $ stratjunk dealer or manufacturer then set it on fire before it starts on fire while you're on it mowing. I'll never own a B & S or troy junk or mtd (mower took dump) ever again. I can build an old Harley knuckle head, throw it on an old craftsman mower and have it last longer and be much more reliable than this junk.
Just a side note... when I unknowingly let my heated pool's alkalinity get out of balance... it began eroding the copper coils in the heater... depositing copper salts into the water... causing the pain of my arthritis to diminish... !!!:)
I put a Plastic line on the return off of my Injector Pump showing air bubbles. Im going to replace the line running under the manifold to try and fix the problem. I bypassed the fuel filter to make sure the air wasn't coming from the filter housing, which are notorious for sucking in air. Its not the filter. Im going to have to remove the manifold to replace the line.
For years I've used the $27 box store bottles. Just can't bring myself to use the crystals, even though they both say Copper Sulfate Pentahydrate. I'm just afraid there's some buffers in the $27 bottles that prevent staining or worse...reactions with us. On average I probably add a bottle every 3 years so it's not too expensive. Guess that's the price to pay for more peace of mind, although my suspicions are it's all the same.
