Rory Stewart and Alastair Campbell, hosts of Britain's biggest podcast (The Rest Is Politics), have joined forces once again for their new interview podcast, ‘Leading’.
Whether they're sports stars, thought-leaders, presidents or internationally-recognised religious figures, Alastair and Rory lift the lid on the motivation, philosophy and secrets behind their career.
And how many businesses have gone under because of Brexit, David Davis? How many freelancers - like me - can no longer work in 27 other countries when there's no work in this one? How many universities are going under for lack of foreign students? How many doctors, scientists, care workers have we lost? How many orchestras, bands, theatre companies can no longer tour because of the exhorbitant cost of administration? How many actors aren't welcome to audition for jobs in assorted EU countries? Rich, arrogant man in a position of power with zero empathy towards others. Had to stop watching half-way through.
I find that I usually end up having a bit more time for the interviewee on 'Leading' than I did before.... but wow, David Davis is the exception to that. He really is just awful.
He asserted people should not just follow the pack and instead use logic, before on every single policy or discussion always saying the most illogical things, and refusing to see reason even when told firmly that what he was saying was just not true (for example, on gay marriage). I think, like many, he believes himself to be 'above' tribalism and politics, but in reality one of the most tribal and most illogical.
He really is catastrophically stupid. Lied egregiously about brexit and then showed his wild incompetence as minister for that. He also doesn’t understand that marriage is not a religious institution, in fact marriage predates Christianity to which he refers and conveniently forgets all history. A disgusting traitor that has harmed the uk irreparably
Michael Johnson's sports commentary is one of the best there is anywhere. You could see Gabby and Denise during the Olympics smiling at each other sometimes but he is so worth listening to. And for politics too from this interview. I'm 61 now and when I was younger I thought when I grew up and had kids they wouldn't know racism but now I have a grandchild and here we still are. FUBAR.

Never seen Rory so annoyed with a guest before. Absolutely loved this interview, good on Rory for standing his ground. David Davis came across as extremely arrogant Mr Know it all.
South Australia has been at the forefront of electoral reform for decades. If compulsory voting is popular with those bound by it, there is less need to justify it. The same can be said of preferential voting and the somewhat unexpected success of the teals Another advantage is that the electoral authorities are required to ensure that polling booths are well-resourced and easy to access and that the experience of voting is a positive one. Hence the democracy sausages which have grown without formal organisation.
He's not a bad politician, he's quite an agreeable, man, not arrogant. He has a global view but he overestimates the greatness of Britain in the World. We're not able to compete now with these trade barriers and we're not worth making a special deal with. No we're not doing better in growth terms than France and Germany nor were we likely to better them on our own. I mean this optimism may be what got him to where he was (everyone like a positive spin), but there is this thing called pragmatism. Sorry to say Davis is a tiny bit dense even if he is a good people person.
I didnt know much about this guy, and from the beginning of this intrview I wanted to like him, but by about half way through, I found he was a superficial pretentious blue blood who hasnt learned a thing.
Someone really needs to make a case study out of this guy. I guessed that he was stupid, but stupid, deluded and arrogant to this degree? At times I thought hr was putting it on for effect :)
As politicians and business leaders have not been sufficiently proactive in dealing with the labour dislocation of globalization and the growth of the internet, what hope is there that they will do better at dealing with the effects of AI?
I've never heard him speak before. David Davis looks like an interesting case for psychologists. That childhood really left a number on him. He's using bluster and laughter as a way of deflecting and silencing people and once he drops a claim rarely ever follows through with an argument to back it up. He's a posturer. Really interesting how he tried to derail Rory to avoid being held accountable and actually explain himself.
Anyone count how many times he said 'right' when trying to bolster his account or argument, right? As if to affirm that what he was saying was gospel. I never liked David Davis and this interview made me dislike him even more. What an arrogant, rude and odious man. I listened to the last 20 minutes of this whilst doing my supermarket shop and found myself chuckling away like a madman at the utter drivel and delusion he was coming out with. Never admits he's wrong and has done more EU negotiations than anyone else in the world?! How'd that work out for the rest of us?! Nice to hear Rory get stuck in.
Well said Johnson; both left and right are as bad as each other. Campbell sits there as if he's exempt. He too is a part of the problem, polarising people, unwilling to find middle ground, to understand, or even listen to the other side.
