Does anyone know the name of the music (and its composer) used during the reading of the Proclamation? 40:02 I heard it on Radio Foyle the other day, but I didn't catch the name of it
The was an amazing concert and this recording that should be better known. Everything was good but there are some exceptional parts. The young people who finish off the the concert portray a confident Ireland proud of its past and moving with confidence into the future. So different from the Ireland of the 1970s and 1980s I grew up in.
This has still so much emotion in 2021.those brave men and women how were prepared to lay down there lives for the rest off us. They will never be forgotten. They ever airbrushed the women out off the photos. Without them it would never have lasted the week. Thay was the real aim. So Eire could be declared a nation. Not as must finish the job and United the isle. R.I.P to all.
Panuska Well I do, but I don’t hold the Gaelic or Gaeilge and as such I wouldn’t have a clue on how to spell the name. The actor Dónall Ó Héalaí sang a rendition at a Ted talk in Berkeley. I’ll go try and look it up for you
This is amazing. I have been searching for this concert for all of 2017. I tried RTE, Tyrone production and Stillwater Films. Imagine 2018 when I was about to give up my search here it is to enjoy. Thank you so much. Larry
No bother Larry, It was for that same reason that I uploaded it here, I had originally emailed RTÉ for a copy from the archives but for €25 Plus postage it was a bit too expensive, so I managed to get a hold of it and decided to upload it for others to enjoy GRMA
I loved most of it until the end. It looked like they were half way through and realized they were out of money. But for the first 50 minutes it was absolutely amazing.
Claire Maloney No problem! I had been searching for it as well and when it was repeated early on this year I decided I would download it from the RTÉ Player and share it with other, hope you enjoyed! GRMA
I'm so excited to find this video! I was visiting Dublin from the US in March 2016 & had been walking back to my AirB&B one night when I walked past the Garden of Remembrance & heard the most haunting music. I walked over & saw a group filming & was told it was for this remembrance concert. At mark 33:16 is when the beautiful music begins that I was so fortunate to watch being filmed that night! I took a short video myself & listened to that haunting music over & over again this past year.
Christy Fike Hope you had great time in Ireland! Radió Teilifís Éireann (RTÉ) is the National Public Service Broadcaster in Ireland and this concert was to commerate the events of the 1916 Easter Rising/Éirí Amach na Chásca 1916 and the events leading up to Irelands independence it was produced in Co-operation between RTÉ and The Irish Government's (Rialtas na hÉireann) Éire/Ireland 1916-2016 Centenery Commemerations, more infor can be found from RTÉ.ie and Taoiseach.gov.ie
A stunning performance, and many thanks for sharing! It will certainly be used for educational purposes at the School of Arts Education and Movement, DCU. Paula
Thank you so much for uploading this. I enjoyed it the first time round on RTE and have been looking on and off on here for it to be uploaded. You have made my day.
A fantastic show, made me proud to be Irish. You'd have thought RTE would have released this on DVD (expecially given that it apparently it cost €2.5m to stage) but no. Therefore thanks so much for putting it up here, if only is was in HD too.
newrynyuk You can purchase the DVD of this program from the RTÉ archives for €25 plus postage, quite expensive I know, thats why I uploaded it here, it was impossible to get it in HD as it was not in HD on the RTÉ Player!
