I don't think Djokovic has anything else to prove to anyone. He has already established himself as one of the all-time greats if not, the G.O.A.T. to play this game. He wouldn't be too disappointed with himself considering he is 37 but will have some standards competing at this level for a long time but, it is fair to say that Novak isn't expected to excel in all years of his career.

Djokovic is the only one real true GOAT, there is no debate about that. You can talk all you want, Rafa sure cant be talked about Goat status in no way whatsoever. But he is somewhere third position cemented. 2nd being Federer. 4th position Sampras, 5th Laver, 6th Borg, 7th ..etc I dont know particular order of Connors, Mcenroe, Agassi, Lendl, Becker. Goatkovic you should make top 20 list all time.

Of the 3, the one who had the talent and ability to consistently challenge RF in his prime was Safin. Unfortunately, he injured his knee in the summer of 2005 and after that he was never the same. I still remember the AO 2005 semis vs. Federer. Beating a Federer playing in his prime was unheard of in those days.

Hi Goatkovic. thank you so much for your efforts and providing us with all this interesting data. I watched all of your videos in chronological order and had such a good time while doing so. I have no doubt that Djokovic is the G.O.A.T at the moment when it comes to Tennis, but i was not aware how much better he really is than the rest. Incredible. Honestly, i think your material should be boxed in one big Documentary when Djokovic is ending his carrer in 20 years. This could be a succesful cinema movie. I mean it, this is no joke! Let me tell you that i am neither Serbian nor a fanatic fan, but during the Covid pandemic i had to order a cap with his logo and name on it, because i want to support this MODERN HERO! Yeah, you heard me, the most important thing about his greatness is that he is a MODERN HERO and FREEDOM FIGHTER for the small men and tennis players! Someone special with his own principles which are the most important to him, ready to risk everything he loves. This is a high standard which almost none has with such a popularity. Combine this and never ever you can touch Novak Djokovic. Thank Goodness he exists and you, too! Keep going, you are awesome. The best channel on RU-vid by far. May i ask you where you from? I assume you are from SRBIJA. I doesn't matter much to me, but i am interested. No problem if you want to keep it for yourself. And what is your opinion on Alcaraz? Having 4 GS with age 21 is impressive and if he can go further with this tempo without having serious injuries odds are high he will break a lot of records. It also comes down to how much Sinner (Djokovic, Medwedew, Zverev, etc...) can win to stop him or slow him down a bit and if some new kids will arise to fill up the next era. Just curious about your prediction on the new Kid. He is definetly fun to watch and has some crafty hands. Idemo! Ernesto Z. from Germany

@ErnestoZebhauser-go9ro
@ErnestoZebhauser-go9ro 16 часов назад
Okay, i Must have missed the part about the vitamins thing. I have not enough insight about that topic. Seems interesting. Maybe I get it one day or Someone provides me a good link. Regarding Alcaraz, I have to admit that watching his games are so entertaining. 21 years and 4 GS are really impressive and he is good at different surfaces. If he can maintain that level this kid can do crazy stuff in the future. He seems to be a positive and nice guy too. Yeah he will probably never be brave enough to announce his principles like djokovic did, but I can see him being a record breaker. He is already an alltime great at 21 per your definition. I think only injuries and competition can stop him. This kid is just too good in the moment and probably will improve. And vitamins might help him with his physis but his talent has nothing to do with that. His wild and ‚unorthodox‘ playstyle is even funkier than the elegance of Rogers. I think Alcaraz is so much better than Nadal, because he is not a specialist and more fun to watch. But nothing of that changes that there is only one man of real greatness: Djokovic. Even if Alcaraz will manage to break most of the relevant records, no one ever will reach the overall greatness. That is for sure. And I think Alcaraz will not have so many stones on his path like djokovic did. Who wants to stop him to break those records. Nadal and ATP probably not.
@manbat123
@manbat123 12 часов назад
Alcaraz's game is physically demanding and he's sometimes injured. I don't think he can beat prime Djokovic or Federer on a random surface, or prime Nadal on clay. He lost to Medvedev and Zverev in GS and is 5 - 4 vs Sinner which means there will be competition. There's not much to say about the recent Wimbledon final. Djokovic didn't even run for lots of the points he would save in his prime and people act like Alcaraz played some god tennis. Alcaraz played on par with 2023. The choke at 5-4 40-0 holding serve is the worst I've ever seen. I wonder what would happen if we replaced Djokovic with his 2019 self from the tiebreak onward. Remember these two are 16 years apart in age, completely different from the Djokovic - Federer rivalry. Djokovic is simply the GOAT because he holds all of the 4 most important records: GS, ATP Finals, Masters, Weeks at #1. So objectively, if someone breaks the GS record and at least 1 more record, which is unlikely, there will be a new GOAT conversation. And it's definitely not today. I just hope the ATP and ITF make sure no player gets preferential treatment in the next era like Federer and Nadal did.
@ErnestoZebhauser-go9ro
@ErnestoZebhauser-go9ro 7 часов назад
@@manbat123 Excellent point. Can Alcaraz copy the longevity of Djokovic. That is a lot of discipline and dedication. Exciting to observe this kid through his career. Sinner will be good, but needs a really good season soon to keep up. Zverev and Medvedev won't peak anymore i guess and the rest is not so convincing. Shelton might be the next Safin, Hewitt, Roddick kind of typ. So it really comes down to Alcaraz and maybe Sinner in the moment to have a shot surpassing Sampras or beyond.

I'm amazed how a 37-year-old tennis player can play in the finals after having surgery only a few weeks ago. He's still my favourite tennis player and his career stats prove that he's no. 1 and when he's not, he's no. 2 but "still alive and kicking". I wouldn't be surprised that in the rankings by next year, he'll be back at no. 1.

I hope Rafa and Nole don't do what Federer did and damage their legacy by holding on too long. Djokovic is 3 - 3 against Alcarez. I recommend that both he and Rafa both retire after the Laver Cup. Djokovic may have one more competitive year in him. But remember Djokovic keeps getting older and Alcarez keeps getting better. I don't see a 39 year old Djokovic beating a 23 year old Alcarez. Djokovic don't be stupid and risk retiring with a bad head to head record against the possible future goat. Something Federer did against Djokovic.

So why were you making fun of Federer loosing to Djokovic at 38 years old if you say Djokovic making quarters and finals at slam at 37 is impressive?
@goatkovic
@goatkovic 2 дня назад
1. I have consistently made the point on this channel that Federer did not decline after 2011, and that , in fact, he played at an elite level all the way to his retirement. In other words, I always gave Federer credit for making deep runs in slams at an advanced age. 2. I don't recall making fun of Federer for losing to Djokovic (maybe I did), but I'm sure that I made fun of his stupid fans. 3. Djokovic is less than 6 years younger than Federer, so age is not an excuse and making fun would be perfectly fine.
@lukerne9260
@lukerne9260 2 дня назад
@@goatkovic Yeah I've seen your video on Federer and how you chose only the stats that support your thesis. Just because he continued to be elite doesn't mean he didn't decline. Why would he play increasingly more riskier and attacking tennis if he didn't decline physically? Why did he change his raquet? Why did he played less and less tournaments? Why did he start to loose to lesser players in slams? Even at 80% of his best he was still superior to everyone except 3/4 players, that's why he kept making deep runs. And 6 years is a long time, not when one is 28 and the other 22, but when one is 33/34 and the other is 28 it is a big difference. Federer was the one that had to adjust his game to try to keep up, playing riskier tennis while Djokovic and Nadal could still their normal game. It's very hard to play a game you're not used to while your opponent can play the tennis he's played his entire life. That makes a difference especially on big moments. And Djokovic isn't just any player, he's not just a good player like Medvedev or Zverev.

It’s a disappointing season, no doubt. The last year that Djokovic didn’t win at least one major was 2017, so it’s not normal at all. He’s never defended USO so it’s unlikely he’ll win there. He’s getting old and the knee injury did not help. Should’ve won AO this year when he had the chance, 24 might be it.

Exactly. I've seen Fedal and even supposed Novak fans arguing that he should retire because he's behind Alcaraz and Sinner. So basically he's the number 3 right now, and should retire for losing a GS final? If any of these new gen players would've reached AO semi-final and Wimbledon final, I'd say it's one player to watch, but since it's Novak we consider it a failure. I don't think he's unmotivated though, the challenge of reaching Alcaraz and Sinner again (like he did last season) should be enough motivation, but he needs a coach asap.

Now I agree with everything in this video except the last seconds. Similar to when a politician wins an election there is no point in continuing to antagonize the opposition. Djokovic has beaten Nadal in the goat race, utterly and completely. He will never catch up and he will never beat Djokovic again. Now it's time to tone down the rhetoric against Nadal and hail him as one of the best the sport has ever seen. Doing that will make Djokovic even more legendary since he consistently beat Nadal. There is also no need to make fun of Båstad. It's a great tournament and a favorite amongst players. Nadal went there because he loves the tournament, not because it is "easy". He used to go there every year when he was younger and only stopped because he started doing well in wimbledon (I think båstad was scheduled earlier back then).
