Translating a 30 year old play to make sense to a modern audience is causing me the most grief. Very funny in parts, but completely down to what has to be very good comedy timing which is a real challenge to new stage actors. We are putting this play on in 2020 and I think it needs a rewrite to change the names of the characters and generally to bring it up to date, who boasts about using a word processor?
i thought polly was ok..manual under ok,,mrs faulty superb ..basil rushed thru his lines and didnt act the lines, though he was very good at moments..mr hutchinson was doing bernard cribbins .perfect..even spoke like Bernard..exact same manner..excellent..sign mrs fawlty and mr hutchison to the next play..he and mrs fawlty were very good,,overall a great visual treat,,,well done--
Great to see the club going strong. I was the club treasurer in the early 70's. Directed and acted too (but not well. Hahahaha). I was a far better fund raiser .
thats really good obviously its nowhere near the laugh factor of the original but its a great attempt and some of the voices especially sybil are perfect
Really enjoyed the performance! Our society is just about to perform it and I thought I'd get a look in on how other societies performed it. I have to say, out of all the videos I've seen, this one is the better of the lot. Also, the girl playing Joyce is beautiful :))
