Documenting the journey building the business with a few tips and tricks along the way that we have picked up. Sharing the highs and lows of growing a business.
This is very useful information, your videos are all great and give such good tips. We will be ordering some new company merch soon and will be coming to Totally Branded!
Hey Taylor, Great Video, Calendar management you described is exactly as in Routine = Results book by Rob Moore. Thank you for this video. Will definitely implement few things.
All great comments and it’s good to get a reminder to always have time to work on the future. Best thing I have done recently is take my my work emails of my phone and iPad. I always get in early and can rattle loads of emails off whilst having that first coffee Mon to Friday and when I leave on a night and especially on a Friday night I can choose to open my laptop and check my emails but it’s a conscious choice to do it. Now I only get good news on my phone and iPad and that’s shopify notifications of sales and has improved my work/life balance tremendously. It’s been a game changer for me.
This was very very good! I’m going to implement the email time blocking thing definitely, and will start paying attention to giving percentages to high level work. Will actually save & rewatch this. 👍🏾
It’s ok. We say umm a lot. Don’t pressure yourself about small things like that. You’re running a huge business. You can’t tackle everything. Sometimes you just have to take the L.
Interesting to hear you mention the election. I'd be really interested to know how many businesses felt the effect of the snap election announcement. We lost 4 events because of it with ministers that were due to speak pulling out and that creates a knock on effect with other speakers.
We had a really bad May for cash in, June has started off well, more in first week of June than the whole of May... seems everyone just decided to stop paying their bills!
Around 3 minutes in you say how you are confident in front of camera and talk how you would if someone was sat there with you. That's the problem, its quite dull. You would have much more subscribers if you brought some charisma to your videos. It can be worked on and you could get really good at it.
I have coached many people on public speaking...a free tip for you: Watch your video (this one) and count the number of "ums"...you'll be amazed. (knowing what you need to improve is part of the process). Filler words (or filler sounds like um) can be corrected. Let me know if you need any help
Always an adventure! From checking construction progress to expanding the warehouse, it's all hands on deck. Can't wait to see what's next in store for this dynamic small business! 🏗
Just brilliant. Some real nuggets there. People over profits will see you right in the long run. I'm predicting now that your own story will also make an inspirational book in time 👍
Enjoy the holiday. Must admit that I often have some good new ideas when im not actually at the coalface. When you are running fast it’s hard to stop and think.
I'd love to see you track an order from initial order to final delivery to customer (in a totally branded box of course!)...just to see exactly what is involved along the way
Rule 1 for computers in business. Never let it auto update. Employ and IT firm to manage it and schedule the updates for your business or set it up yourself to only update in early mornings (if you keep the computers on 24/7). Not only will this help avoid issues like restarts happening during business hours but it will also prevent major issues like microsoft publishing an update that then allows hackers to get in to a fully protected computer! Long term this allows your assets (Computers) to last longer; Having over 10 years experience in the IT industry managing IT for firms, I hate seeing a business just simply replace a computer because its "Slow" or causing problems without researching or properly implementing their IT policies and infrastructure which will save £££££ long term! If my business was bigger with more reputation (I am struggling) as a small IT firm, I would have happily helped you with this if you need it, but frankly being as small as my business is and the competitive overcrowding nature of the IT industry I doubt that'll happen. Good luck
Excellent video and yes I have heard and used pretty much all of them previously BUT it’s so easy to let them slip when “work”is happening. Going to definitely use number 11 myself though and allocate myself a few time slots. I am good at insisting others do it when an urgent or important task needs completing but I have realised that it’s often me that is struggling for “quality” work time and end up doing that when I should be relaxing at home.
I LOVED THIS! Of course, all us business owners know this - but we FORGET! It does us all a world of good to be reminded. And I haven't seen a better 10 (um 12) lesson reminder in a long time. Taylor - thank you for this. Oh and CONGRATULATIONS on the success of the business. So inspiring! Onward!
Very enjoyable and I can totally relate. If we have a great day I’m buzzing and if it’s quiet I’m praying for that next decent sale to come in. Know what you mean about premises too. Just moved in to our new warehouse (several months later than planned) and already wondering how to fit the next container in lol.
Question guys. Your content is great. But why is it so basically edited??? This is video remember. As viewers we want a good visual experience & good visual storytelling. Some better, on brand music throughout the video. Text overlays. Overlays. Transitions. A bit of B roll. A nice intro & outro. Not a video editor, just a viewer, but as someone who watches videos regularly these are the basic standards we come to expect. I’ve been watching for maybe 6 months & am not even sure who owns the business. Who is the main guy that is always on the video. What does the company actually do? Why is this on RU-vid as the audience is not really addressed throughout the content? Good editing & better video directing will address these issues.
They are to busy running and growing a business. Be happy to get this free insight into business growth we rarely see. These no bull here, no fancy nancy.
@@Oldcasiocollectoractually it’s not fancy Nancy as you call it. 1) there are plenty of channels providing equally valuable business insight (this isn’t 2001 RU-vid) & 2) this is video, you need to be mindful of the audience & their needs. If they’re too busy running the business then they shouldn’t bother uploading videos- which they are clearly choosing to do, so there is vested interest. Ultimately the content *IS* good & more people should be seeing it. It’s a shame editing & low audience inclusion is hampering its growth, which I hope they will improve. 👍🏾
