Here we are a year later and Flex is what? No disrespect intended but some of us old heads have seen Fads come and go, and unless proven otherwise, Flex is/was a Fad. I live in one of the fastest growing areas in the US, new schools, courthouses, and homes are being built nonstop since Covid, and yet every site has Milwaukee or Dewalt, no Flex. It doesn’t help that the 4 Lowes within 15 minutes of my house carries more Metabo HPT, stuff than Flex power tools, no Flex Packouts, zilch. With 3 Harbor Freights going up since 2022, I’d expect to see more Hercules at this point.
Flex Storage Boxes are really the Best man. But the tools still are not betterment than Milwaukee. Torch Tests about Drill, Grinder and Circular Saw Milwaukee always beats all the brands. Have you tried Milwaukee on a Rain and tough weather how Reliable are? Chris
Today I bought my first FLEX Tools (Red Line), I am not a Pro Wood worker. Is this Black Line a USA/Non EU Version? I did not find Black Flex Tools in Germany. And my one is a 18V Version.

I plan to build a small, one-story, advanced framing, 24" OC 2x6, home with regular OSB with 1" EPS Insulfoam foam board between the studs & the OSB. I'll plan to get 2-3 gallons of Elmer's glue from Amazon & mix it up with the right ratio of water & alcohol, letting me garden spray glue the EPS to the OSB. I'll tape it with Naushua Extreme Weather 2.88" tape (8 pk of 150') @ $115 vs the ZipTape. Finally, I'll have a quality airless sprayer and I'll spray the OSB with a thick coat of solid desk stain from Olympic for about $210 for a 5 gallon bucket. It should turn out just as good for about 40% savings.
My diamondbacks got holes on the outside corners after only a year and half of framing. Then got a replacement and they are the made in Taiwan versions and they didn’t feel right so I switched to badger customs they are so much comfortable and handmade in America. Love badgers.
My mechanical engineer brain likes pier and beam for the accessibility to utility pipes and for maintenance. Imagine an aircraft without hatches or access panels.
I've also made the switch from Occidental to diamondback. My hips can't take it anymore. My dawson rig is in the mail and will be here on Tuesday. Im pretty excited but also sad to retire my Occidentals.
I’m an Occidental guy… have been for over 20 years. I just like the feel and durability of leather. I still have and use my first Occidental belt that’s about 25 years old lol. Now that I’m getting older though my hips can’t handle a straight up belt for every day use, and I’m mostly a trim carpenter these days so most the time I don’t even wear a belt at all. But my fav is their lightweight vest (and system). It’s a tool “vest” that I mostly just use as is when I’m doing finish work, it has leather straps on either side though that you can use to mount any pouches from basically any brand on your side/hips. But even when you load it up with pouches, nails, impacts, ext the weight is still on your shoulders and not your hips.

I have a bunch of Stack Pack boxes and the one thing I would prefer is for the latching mechanism to be on the front like the Packout or Stack Tech. Now the Stack Tech is very appealing, but since Toughbuilt does not make power tools, there will be no integration for battery operated tools into their storage system. I've bought a bunch of Flex tools as well that have yet to be used, so I am already in the system. What makes me excited is that when looking at their website, they have a bunch of new tools coming out AND, as the only company other than Metabo to have one, they have an AC adapter which is huge plus for me.

Does this application work without the internet? Like so many IOT applications do not? People buy 60,70,100 year old homes every minute. Imagine having to pay to rewire a house all over again because the company went out of business 50 years ago. That has actually already happened with some electrical panels much less technically dependent than a box like this and fully rewiring those boxes were a minimum 10k$. Also if the answer is yes it works without the internet, my next question is does it accept normal D breakers, again 50 years from now if the company is gone they wont be manufacturing any breakers either. Peloton is a wonderful example, it’s going out of business. People who bought 10,000$ gym machines are all big dead paperweights. The moment a tech company closes its doors updates cease and the product dies. Also what about cyber security? Will that be included or up to me? That will require an expensive firewall, I suggest Ubiquity. Could a North Korean hacker hold my house hostage in the middle of a Vegas heatwave or Chicago Winter? Until all these factors are addressed on the company’s website and they’re not, I’d be EXTREMELY hesitant to jump on board a product I don’t have FULL control over on every level. It would make more sense to offer smart breakers that work on dumb boxes because a breaker is much easier to swap out.
I get your point, but I disagree when you said people who support her stand for nothing. They are centrist, they believe that the middle path is always right and are worried of a backlash in both money and support if they choose an actually left-wing candidate, and for the rest of us voting for Kamala if she becomes the nominee in the end is still the better option, because Trump is the worst by all standards. I am not American, but I follow what's happening, and you still have the oportunity to force a new candidate at the convention. And whatever happens there needs to be protests for judicial reforms.

"Right wing" is for personal freedom and liberty, which means minimal government among other things, and you are correct that the USA became the greatest nation on earth because people found personal freedom and liberty here. And don't raise up the slavery canard. For one thing American blacks are the richest blacks on the planet.

Thanks for the honest review. Just picked up a Flex drill and impact driver combo set for a really good price. Was going back and forth whether to keep it or return and go with Dewalt. I’m like you and couldn’t care less how fast it drills, I need longevity and a great battery. Keep up the great work!

@@kd9937 You're right at the very least it boosts our economy. At the same time dewalt can certainly make superior tools and chooses for whatever reason to fight for 3rd place while the M18 line and flex fight for 1st and 2nd place. I'd love to see more american tools of high quality out here but the other companies are full steam ahead while dewalt is releasing solutions china has already made and sold here years ago. nobody is going to replace their tools until these american companies start dropping serious hardware.
