I love orchids and other house plants. I will be focusing mostly on orchids as that is my bigger obsession but occasionally throw in a video of a house plant or two, or three...... I am not an expert and have much to learn but hopefully we can help one another become better plant parents and make new friendships along the way.

Hi Trish, I’m so glad your channel showed up on my feed today! Loved this Hoya video and you picked a lot of great Hoyas to build your collection. They’re all beautiful and they’re doing well under your care. Thank you for mentioning what sun or light exposure you give them as well as the substrate you use. This is part of what makes a video great in my opinion. Love your enthusiasm, energy and your sense of humor! You were smart to look through all the Hoyas to find a fully green Carnosa . Although I love both variegation and silver leaves, there’s something special about an all green leafed Carnosa! Thank you for sharing your lovely Hoyas and for a video with very good content. 👌🪴🥰

Thank you Peggy for your kind words ❤️ I appreciate you taking the time to not only watch but to provide your thoughts. Happy to report that Carnosa is still all green😂 (I may also have added one or two since this video😊) Do you have many Hoya?

Great information. I have two orchids which have bloomed successfully for me 2 yrs. We're in our 3rd year and I found some lovely transparent pots I've planted both orchs in these pots with no drainage holes not sure if this is smart 😆 one of the orchids hasn't bloomed at all this year and leaves a bit withery despite watering. Not sure what I'm doing wrong. I may try to find the right size inner pots with holes.
@TrishsOrchidLife
@TrishsOrchidLife 23 дня назад
The one with leather leaves, was it this way when you repotted?
@DollyMat
@DollyMat 23 дня назад
The leaves were all little soft. I found an old 12cm inner pot with holes and have repotted the one without blooms temp. Hopefully it will dry out I found some clear pots with holes that will fit so I ordered them on ebay. I'm scared to repot the one with blooms. 😬
@TrishsOrchidLife
@TrishsOrchidLife 23 дня назад
@DollyMat repotting the one with blooms will not hurt it per se. You may lose the blooms sooner but if its leaves are a bit dehydrated too then I personally would cut the spike off and repot it. If not then you can enjoy the blooms and repot once they fall. Just keep a close eye on it as blooms take a lot of energy and your phal can go downhill fast from expending the energy into the blooms.

Do I water in the moss? I dampen it and then monitor for dryness if that is what you are asking?

Mine got some kind of fungal infection recently while being on a west facing windowsill. It's still very young but it's growing roots. I uploaded a short video showing the infection.

Hello! I hope you are well! Beautiful plants as always! I had a question regarding your barrina t5's - may I know how many hours you run your barrina's per day?
@TrishsOrchidLife
@TrishsOrchidLife Месяц назад
Howdy! 👋 during the growing season I run them for 14-16 hours depending on which orchids are in the shelf (space) and in the non growing season I run them 8-10
@trendworld9803
@trendworld9803 Месяц назад
@@TrishsOrchidLife thank you very much! I've been running my lights for 12 hours a day year round, but for some reason my leaf growth seems to be smaller than previous leaves and it seems as though I have kind of a lot of anthocyanins. my blooms and root production are great but the leaves are not the best. Do you think the light is too intense or the duration is too long? I'm not sure whats going on but the plants do seem to be a bit stressed 🤔
@TrishsOrchidLife
@TrishsOrchidLife Месяц назад
@trendworld9803 anthocyanin is usually the plat protecting itself from too much of something… light or cold. I would pull them back from the light a bit and see if that helps them get their “color back”. I have mine 8-12 inches away from the Barrina

Very good instructional video, thank you👍🏻 I have (1) E.codigera- E.randii that has survived all my neglect . Luckily I planted it right and the humidity and patio sunshine sustained it. So I been researching how to repot it, and this is perfect. And I’ll be using my Dynomyco mycorrhizal fungi just as you did. Great tip!

Yay! So happy I was able to make a difference for you and your repot. I have definitely loved using mycorrhizal fungi in my ladies. Have definitely noticed an improvement in root growth and recovery from stressful repottings. Have a wonderful weekend 🌸

Hi Trish! So glad to see you are feeling better! Nice update video…….you did your best…..sometimes it’s just not meant to be. I call it, in the organic waste bin you go. However, fairies does sound so much nicer. Love your sense of humor too. Have a good 4th and watch out for your doggies.

Some orchids sure can sulk when their environment changes. Most of the ICPU's are slow to adjust but doing okay.
@TrishsOrchidLife

I wish the sulking were just for the darn ICPUs… but as you already know the “healthy”’ones sometimes sulk too and those are the ones that frustrate me more 🤔😍🌸

I hope you continue to get better quickly. Hugs and prayers my friend!❤🙏❤🙏❤

Great video Trish! I have a quiet morning, hubby's still sleeping, and I'm trying to catch up on what I've missed. ☺️ I think your tiny rescue box plant is sooo cute!🤩 It might actually be an Agave isthmensis 'Ohi Raijin Shiro Nakafu'. If I'm correct, it's a rare dwarf butterfly century plant. They get to be about 4 inches and will produce pups... And, that Alocasia Jacklyn, oh my.😲 That's a score!🎉
