Why are you roadies so concerned about weight on ebikes. 20kg to 25kg is fine for an ebike (inc 5kg of battery).

For a Cross Country Race bike this handle drops and rock gardens well, but if you don't plan on racing I would recommend closer to a trail or enduro bike. I would check out the video about the Santa Cruz Hightower on our channel if you would be interested in that.

I have a Orbea D30 and despite a battery change I cannot get the coachsmart device to work and also the iWok is set on orange and will not change. Please advise.
@ContenderBicycles
@ContenderBicycles 2 месяца назад
Orange should just mean that the bike is in between 25% and 50% charge, have you thrown the bike on a charger recently? We have noticed that the mount for those computers can be really tight in the mount which can cause the battery to slip out and affect its ability to turn on, our running policy is 'if the computer is working, do not remove it from the bike,' because it can cause it to reset. If you have any other questions you can call our shop line, otherwise I would advise you to take it to your closest Mahle dealer to help get you sorted.

Nice reviews, thanks for that! Looking at the Santa Cruz as next e-bike, coming down from full power. Do you have concerns about the Fazua controls being flimsy, do you think they'll age well? Thanks! 👍
@ContenderBicycles
@ContenderBicycles 2 месяца назад
I personally really like the design of the control. It keeps the cockpit clean and it is intuitive to use. As for it being flimsy, it is made of plastic so a direct hit to hit may cause it to break, but in a crash, you'd be more likely to smack the brake lever than anything else. The control is also easy to replace, making it simple in the event you need to.

GREAT video! Would love to hear opinions from the riders on which bike they prefer for their riding style. Would also like to see the MRSP of each bike. Lastly, I hear a lot of reviews say that if you’re on the bigger side (I’m 200 pounds) to just get a “regular weight” e-bike. What do you think? Subscribed. Strong work.
@ContenderBicycles
@ContenderBicycles 2 месяца назад
Thanks! MSRP on these bikes is constantly changing, but our website has the prices live there. I think a bigger e-bike could be a better idea for bigger riders, but I would choose your bike choice more based on the right geometry and travel for your area, and less on the weight. The Heckler SL, and the Levo SL would handle a bigger rider no problem! With them both having 150mm rear travel, they can handle bigger hits and rougher trail.

I essentially have that bike, just the non-+27 five version. It’s a 2017 Scott scale 720 and extra large that I happen to cross as a frame deal during the pandemic. I cannibalized it for a full suspension build in 29,so I just needed a few parts to build it back up in 27 five having the wheels and frame line around. I just rebuilt that this week and love it.

If you were doing Moab Rocks, BCBR, Downville, … which bike would you pick? Not limited to these bikes.
@ContenderBicycles
@ContenderBicycles 4 месяца назад
I would probably choose the Santa Cruz Blur TR, Cervelo ZFS 120, or Scott Spark. You would want something that pedals well while still inspiring confidence on the descent. The ZFS has a bit slacker head angle then the rest of its XC counterparts, so it is an awesome bike when you need to push on the descent as much as you do on the climb.
@user-wh7zu3gf4q
@user-wh7zu3gf4q 4 месяца назад
It sounds like you really like the ZFS. Do you think it could handle Moab better than the Spark?
@ContenderBicycles
@ContenderBicycles 4 месяца назад
@@user-wh7zu3gf4q If I am being honest, I personally own a Spark and really like the bike. The reason why I am not singing its praise in rocks is because the top tube is pretty short so if you ride your size you have to put on a long stem which puts your weight over the front wheel, making it a super fast bike. I sized up to get the reach I wanted, and it is an awesome bike, but in doing so I sacrificed a bit of the 'racey' feeling. The ZFS is a tiny bit more all around, but honestly either bike will feel really good, especially because they're 120s designed to handle rugged XCO terrain.

Why would the Hightower climb better than the tallboy ? considering the suspension is the same principle
@ContenderBicycles
@ContenderBicycles 4 месяца назад
That may have been a misspeak. The Tallboy climbs a bit better than the Hightower because it is shorter-travel and slightly lighter. If we said the Hightower climbs better, we could have made a mistake, we are all part human.

Hi guys! I have a question about these two bikes! Or rather, about size. I am 179 cm and I used Oiz in size L (M was too short reach). Large was very comfortable on climbs, but a bit too progressive on downhill sections (I'm not an enduro champion). This season I plan to test the Spark RC. The goals : downcountry workouts and some XCM, sometimes simply enduro. What size of this bike should I choose? Spark L calculations are similar to OIZ L, but I have the impression that the seat tube will be too far from the handlebar. Can you somehow compare what these bikes look like 1:1 in the same sizes? Any proportions or suggestions? thanks!
@ContenderBicycles
@ContenderBicycles 4 месяца назад
I would recommend the Large. I am 176cm tall and have always ridden size MD bikes, but I bought a Spark in August and had to go for the large. The reach is pretty short on the spark, so to get my position I would have had to use the 90mm -20º Fraser Bar. I would also check out geometrygeeks.bike/ they're really useful to compare geometry of lots of bikes.

@ContenderBicycles

The canyon one-piece bar combo only works on 2021+ Canyon bike steer tubes, the bottom of the bar actually goes into the frame and connects to the steer tube. However, BMC makes once pice bars and suspension stems that will fit this bike!

Focus on ride a bike can be very fun. In my races, often there were heavy propper downhills i was going with my 80mm 7,4kg Hardtail. If you know how to ride, you have a lot of fun with less mm.

No they are not hard tails, but they aren't a true full suspension either. This category would be a so-called "soft-tail" of sorts. But this and the Supercaliber are quite different, with very different geometry, weight, and even suspension layout. (The Supercaliber doesn't have a true linkage, this bike does). Similar ideology, but different in practice.
