You're not really going to see outright gays here (ehem this is 17th century) but there are strong women characters here. You just need to remember that this is the time where men have higher standing than women.
In this time period, a marriage wasn’t considered ‘legal’ until it had been ‘consummated’. Claire was reading a contract of marriage drawn up by Ned as Jamie approached. It would have spelt out the legal requirement for them to take it ‘seriously’. Claire would also have known from her own knowledge of English history that the ‘bedding’ process is the thing that seals the deal and was therefore a requirement they had to negotiate.
Totally loving how into the show you are. It's one of the best shows I've ever seen (top 3 for sure) and I can't wait for the remaining episodes. Hopefully they will consummate the series as brilliantly as it has been all along; with Outlander I just can't fathom a disappointment happening at the end like in GoT. Get ready for quite a ride - there are literally dozens of masterpiece-level episodes and scenes all throughout the show. By way of long-range preparation, listen to the 60's song "Never My Love" by The Association : )
The deeper you get into outlander the better it gets. The story only gets stronger and Claire and Jamie get closer and closer. Plenty of those steamy scenes as well. One thing I like about this show is it takes you into some VERY dark story lines as well. Things you really don’t see on shows as much especially in such detailed imagery.
🤣🤣I wonder if this show has nudity?🤣🤣 Jamie remains an open book with her through the whole series. He never does keep many secrets from Claire, especially if she asks something outright. He says they are starting out strangers and have nothing between them, but asks that they can have honesty at least, and he keeps that forever. Jamie never has any complaint about Frank. He says he will hold in honor anyone she loves or who loves her. About Randal-- yeah that's his kink. The author says he's an equal opportunity abuser. Full on sadist and he has a particular fondness for Jamie (or would very much like to anyway).
Colin is not good with distress. That's part of what comes with the hero complex. And it's complicated in this episode because it's all within the family. If his family is under threat, he wants nothing more than to save them. Yeah that's the same time HE's adding a member to this family that may seemingly be putting the others in danger of ruin in the eyes of the QUEEN. So he has love battling with a different kind of love which seems to give him a define the purpose. So that makes him in a fight with Pen
I mean... "he has love battling with a different kind of love"? what a beautiful analysis. and genuinely helped this click for me. thank you. makes sense, because he seems both chaotic and grounded in his feelings.
This is why this series became so popular. Sex scenes with the female view, not just the male view. You won't get them all the time, but there are plenty.
yeah nothing to do with the amzing cast, scenery and everytning else just the full on fifty shades of tarten lol, seriously though its a belter all round, fantastic series its got the lot, even time travel, whats not to like.👍
This was well worth the wait. I had a friend tell me that they couldn't get thru the first few episodes of Outlander - I said, wait till Ep 6 and then definitely Ep 7 - it will be worth it. You will still never convince me there isn't something more going on with Sam and Cait then they let on. I ship them so hard. This is the episode that won me over - and then I was ALL in - for the books and the show and life has never been the same.
I think epsiode 3 is what hooked me! and episode 7 DEFINITELY has me more invested than ever. I don't know anything about sam and cait b/c I'm scared to google and run into spoilers, but I can't wait to get to a point where I can deep dive everything. "life has never been the same" --- eeek, this excites me! maybe I'll start the books earlier than planned. 💚 thank you for watching along!
Yep Ep3 - wound checking in the surgery ❤️🔥 plus their mini capers had me hooked although I was never quite sure their story wouldn’t just be a drawn out sexual tension thing 🙄. The show itself was holding my interest with its twists and turns but Eps 7-9 definitely had me completely invested in the good ship Jamie & Claire. Welcome to the obsession Sailor!
You are so right about Randell and his need for power. You have no idea how right you are! but he is more complicated then that imo. What you said about Frank being attractive- I agree so much. I think it is because Tobias Menzies is one of the best actors I have seen in a while. The way he can play two roles and have us feel so differently (and strongly) about each of them is astounding. I think once you see more of him you will get what I mean (even though I remember you talking about it during the last episode). I am so happy this episode was longer and loved all of your reactions to these steamy scenes lol. I want to say so much to you but trying very hard to avoid spoilers :) As always, can't wait for the next one!!! 👏👏👏
This was the the best reaction sailor I was so excited to see this episode through your eyes, you certainly didn't disappoint. I remember feeling like you did and smiling the whole time. Thank you so much for this episode I had so much fun.😊❤
I'm so glad you enjoyed it!! I certainly did. & I love that you smiled the whole time you initially watched, too. because I struggle not to smile, lol. 💚
Great to watch your reaction and glad it met expectations. Always the risk when we’ve hyped an Episode up beforehand. Loved watching your thoughts and reactions and being taken back to my musings on first viewing. The balance was so well done - Real Time/flashback. Anxiety/confidence. Humour/seriousness. Bravado/vulnerability. Story/character development. Fire dept 🔥/romantic and sweet 🩷. Looking forward to watching your questions being answered!
I hadn't thought about that, but you're right. I think I was so excited to see them finally acknowledge their feelings (or begin to), that the 🔥 aspect was the cherry on top. and okay --- your balance pairings are SO on point! I was nodding along reading your comment. I think those balances are how I've become invested this quickly. Thank you for watching along! 💚
I smiled at your facial expressions the whole time... the same faces we all made watching this episode for the first time. (I'm glad you called the fire department!! ). I think this is one of the most authentic 'loves scenes' I've ever watched. You had great questions that will be answered. As usual your intuition is on point :)
💙 happy I'm not alone, because I genuinely can't help but stupidly smile at all things claire/jamie. and yes! authentic + not through a male gaze. super well done. the fire department agreed. And my intuition being on point scares me, lol. I don't want more randall. But I do want a little Frank. :)
One of the other bloggers asked the costume department what determined which side their Tam was on & the answer was depended on the way the wind was blowing.
The show, as the book, is told from Claire's POV, so anything she doesn't understand, we don't either. Gaelic is the language at that time & she doesn't understand it.
Another great reaction!! It's so lovely to see you get drawn into this wonderful world. I'm impressed how you've anticipated the story arcs and character development so far :)
I'm thrilled to be this invested only six episodes in. what a treat. and that's so funny, because I feel clueless half the time about where things are heading, lol. but thank you!! 💙
Love your reactions. As someone else pointed out you are very quick. I have watched the whole series maybe a dozen times and each time I pick up on something I missed. I have read the 9 books twice and plan on going on a third round soon, and I watch all the reactors like most people here. Welcome to our obsession which will be yours soon
Thank you! & totally. Even rewatching this early on (while editing), I catch things too... mostly in supporting characters. I love that you love the outlander world so much --- I can't wait to be in deep! I plan to read the books after the series. 💙
Jamie is in favor of the marriage (very tiny spoiler here) he's already in fascination if not in love with her and has been wanting her since she set his arm. A lot of marriages in those days started with less. Claire agrees simply to make her off limits to the English. A LOT of whiskey and those beautiful muscles go a long way to convincing her that it would be a shame to leave him a virgin. Personally, I think it's the best choice she makes in the whole damned story!
I didn't read past "very tiny spoiler" because I'm scared, lol (thank you for noting it, by the way!! 💙) --- but I will come back after the next episode or so and read this. I love deep diving motivations.
So happy! another reaction! OMG can't wait for the next oneeeeeeee 😆😆😆 EDIT: Love your reaction but every time I watch you, it feels too short! Hope someday we can see longer reactions because you are really fun to watch!
eeek! I'm SO excited for Ep. 7. steamy + a wedding? kicking my feet. and wait, that's so kind! 💚 these reactions are actually 30 mins, but I have to super cut it for copyright. I may post 'em on patreon or similar eventually. til then, my extended rants and rambles are just me in my living room for no one 😂.
@@sailorreacts LMAO But we also want to see those rants! your rants are prob so funny! Btw, I have watched two also great Outlander reactors a few years ago who didn't have problems with copyrights because of some tricks they did. Just in case you want to check them out- Anna Alexander and Evie reacts. I am only saying this because I love to watch you and want more :) Again. Can't wait to see you next week! So excited 🎉🎉🎉
@@sailorreacts I just woke up and saw your comment and that you uploaded episode 7! Starting my mornimg like this is the best :) This is such a great day already!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Another great reaction to an excellent episode. That scene with BlackJack and Claire was transfixing. Tobias Menzies is awesome as BlackJack. Definitely bye bye list-worthy! Loved the smile as you realised Jamie was the likely groom to be. This show keeps a cracking pace. Glad you are hooked and along for the ride.
transfixing! that's the word. yes, what an actor! I believe him to my core. and thank you, I really am 💚. & "a cracking pace" may even be an understatement, lol. Can't believe this is only six episodes in.
I also wonder why this show wasn’t popular. It’s my favorite of all time. Black Jack is a sick man. Bye bye list is a great name. I may start using it. Love having you be a part of Outlander world. ⛵️
It's fairly popular but i think it competed with GoT and hence didn't get as much attention. Also everyone i've showed this show to ends up loving it too. It's my favorite show as well.
ok the bye bye list is official. yeah, it's strange it wasn't on my radar. I'm glad netflix pushed it to my home screen. based on what I've seen + it being a popular fave, I think I'll love it intensely. feels like a world to get lost in --- and I'm trying to get lost. & thank you! 🌎
He will grow on you in the later seasons because I felt the same way about him but later on i started to like him and understood why he is the way he is
