After Playing the First main Story, I will say this game is fine. I played the entire game on default settings and only hated 2 levels because of it ( especially the stupid last one, which was just lazy.) Once you set your inner dead zone, to avoid snap back on a pro remote and remove the camera deadzones in the presets, and going to advance setting and putting all speeds on max, this is the closest feeling to 1 & 2. I'm going to say you can use spin-dash a fair amount, and was extremely intuitive for me at least. Yeah I think default camera is bad, but it wasn't impossible. It only took away from the bowl boost, slinky, and final shitti racing stage. 9.25/10 would recommend, especially if I can just tell fellow vets what the optimal camera settings are.
I was hooked on Pokémon when I was a small child, and my first ever mainline Pokémon game I played was Pokémon Diamond, which I played when I was a teen. When BDSP came out, to me at least, I was stoked and looked forward to it. Brilliant Diamond did not disappoint me in the slighest. I am a 31-year adult now, and I must say that it has been one of the greatest gaming experiences for me. I know nostalgia is a big part of it, and that the games aren't anything special if you aren't attached to the OG Diamond- and Pearl games, but for me specifically I savoured every moment of the game! And the soundtrack is amazing imo, it really triggered those nostalgic feelings. I loved Brilliant Diamond. (It was over 15 years since I last played Pokémon Diamond, so the nostalgia was huge for me when I played Brilliant Diamond on release.)

Thanks of this! Honestly, out of all the racing games out there, this had the most potential to compete with Mario Kart. In some ways, it is better than Mario kart as it has that sense of speed and adrenaline and is one of the rare occasions a game looks good but also makes you feel good through its gameplay and combining that with its visuals! But I think all games in the series are worth a try, even Free Riders if you’re active enough (it’s actually my favourite!). Controls worked perfectly for me actually! I honestly think Zero Gravity is more disappointing though as it removed most of the distinctive mechanics that Riders 1 had and dumbed it down. But if they ever come back to this series, several fan projects, mods like the no kinect patch, and Speed Simulator, show the inspiration and potential that they can use for the next supposed entry. Not boring kart racers! Seriously, I played Mario Kart 8 DX so much by now that I just want something new! So come on Sega!
Sonic Riders 1 is extremely good yeah, I feel like everyone agrees on that Also storybook games were decent, and good on TGC and GVG for exonerating them
Damn, that title spoke to me. Sonic Riders, for many years, was the only racer I enjoyed because of its unique gameplay and style. I've since learned to love Mario Kart with 8, but it's nowhere near as kinetic, nor expressive enough for me to consider it better. I will also never forgive Sega for sitting on such a golden premise, and watering it down over time instead of honing onto what made it great. Also also, the "why does Sonic do x when he can just run" question was always silly. Sonic likes to do cool things fast, so whatever form that takes, of course he'd be in! He might like running the most, but if you're telling me he wouldn't be thrilled to prove himself on a futuristic hoverboard, then you're crazy! It's actually so Sonic that it should be without question.
2:20 You had me until you mention Awakening was a prequel of Echos... I know just enough of both those games for that statement to leave me totally bewildered.
I always consider this game underrated. It was never a huge part of my childhood. But the time I did spend playing while renting was an overall good one. I can't help to think that Knietic exclusive sequel they had, Free Rider, was what really did damage to the series legacy. Because oh boy, people love to dunk on Free Riders and I totally get why.
I remember loving this game as a kid . Admittedly I also loved zero gravity and didn't notice the difference in quality at that age. But still hold good memories with both, I would like to at least see a port or remaster of the original at some point
There's a really awesome tournament edition mod for the game, (called sonic riders tournament edition of course) rebalances a lot of boards and characters, and has a very dedicated online scene. Worth checking out!
There was quite a bit of drama between the tournament edition and the EXGL version, but EXGL kinda blew itself up and killed off its mod. If you want a modernized version of Riders now, TE is the way to go.

The 2005 to 2009 era of Sonic was... certainly an experimental time hahaha. The first Sonic Riders was a game I would go back to a lot on my gamecube copy because it was just so much fun to play! Unfortunately the only other person I knew who could get into the game was my younger brother. I guess everyone else just wanted a more traditional racing spinoff... I love the style and the aesthetic of the second game, but I miss the mechanics of the first game. Free Riders? Uhhhh yeah we don't talk about that one

It's not just any race, it's a special race to see who's the fastest! My sister and I loved this game. I've said for many years that it was the best Sonic game released in 2006, which to be honest, isn't a difficult bar to reach, but it's a blast and still very much worth playing! This game is how I learned Nights Into Dreams, Space Channel 5 and Samba De Amigo were things. I knew Super Monkey Ball existed thanks to the TV commercials
tbh I actually like Secret Rings, it's not amazing but it has crazy potential. the "on rails" gameplay style can be doodoo, but it also gives every level an iconic moment, and the world is so whimsical. there's already controller support for it around youtube, so the mandatory side missions are the worst part of the game to me
I mean Alear is basically their own character & the reason almost everyone likes or wants to be liked by them is because Alear is seen as dragon Jesus. Like out of everyone their Avatar worship literally makes the most sense & honestly, they're barely an Avatar. They get their own feelings, arcs, conclusions, character. The worst you can say is cheesy but from an outside look, the crazy anime style medival/dragon combat of Fire Emblem may as well be. Does this mean internal exaggeration is good, bad? I dunno, but I have to disagree that Alear is so bad they're good. They're straight up just a good character Edit: And unlike every other Fire Emblem main character. They react to them having actual worshipers, comment on it in mutliple interactions with them & end up reaching a conclusion that they're not really happy with it, but it's like 1000 years old worship so they can't do much about it.
I really have to disagree with your take on legends. As a person who skipped sword and shield, bdsp and scarlet and violet I absolutely loved legends arceus. It was such a breath of fresh air, the music was phenomenal, the characters were really good and the gameplay was very fun. Sure, it has its flaws, but so do the original diamond and pearl games.
