The camera with the fox gloves is a Hero 12 go pro and the other is a Hero 9 it’s quite remarkable how much better the 12 is. But to be fair the operator of the 9 is a rookie and not very good at remembering to clean the lense 😂😂 he’s also just learning how to bike as you can tell 😉🤣🤣 The wet conditions make that ground very slippery 👍🏼
Would you be interested in meeting there beginning of may and me taking some footage of you guys, I run a digital photography business which is partly government funded basically trying to get young people into biking and enjoying trails. Prob 3-4 hours shooting, and could be £500 in it to share between you, 4-5 riders?
That’s epic, look forward to it! It’ll be well worth it for you guys got plenty of advertising merchandise from POC and FOX so you guys will leave very happy 😜
I rode both and also WTB vigilante, maxxis shorty, and so far my favourite is the new continental argotal. Perfect por loose conditions. The vigilantes qive good grip but the casing is not so strong. And the rubber not as soft as maxxis. The maxxis give amazing grip but wear out quickly and the assegai picks up rocks and cakes up a bit, the contis are just amazing imo . Been trying tires for years and omg are they good
Which argotal? I’m on the trail tyre front I believe. I have the downhill tyre on the rear. Maybe I should try the enduro soft on the front. I was riding dyfi this weekend and I had a couple of dual wheel slides 😬 I’m a big guy.
I’m a big guy too, been using assagi max grip front dhr rear for years until I picked up my kryptotal clad Atherton. Softest compound DH case front and back. They feel light for a dh casing and imo, so much more grippy than the assagai, which I’m kind of disappointed about as I get Maxxis trade price. The Conti’s have ruined the assagi for me now!!
I literally can’t say enough good things about that bike.. It eats the ground, but also climbs fantastic. It’s a massive travel bike but all my friends were on smaller travel bikes and I’m by no means currently fit or a small guy but it was fine. I’m amazed I thought it would feel hard work. I do believe because of the correct fitment and straight through seat post your exactly where you need to be on the bike to get the best out of it.
Next time, rather than go back up the road over Honister, you should carry on to Buttermere, then go up the path next to Sail Beck and then down Rigg Beck into Newlands valley. One of the best flow descents in the lakes I reckon (Rigg)
Thanks for the recommendation 👍🏼 We really don’t like pedalling up roads if we can help it.. although we’re only 1 hour from the Lakes we haven’t rode it enough to know where to go, I’ll have a look. We are planning on doing the 4 passes next.
You missed a sneaky left on the trail descent parallel to Honister Pass. This takes you to the brilliant Castle Crag section of The Bash. It is very easy to miss, very narrow and blends into its surroundings!
Yes, my bad. I know I need to check the camera before I set off, and during a ride. Sometimes I catch it and knock it out. I also forget to press record on the drone for about half of one of the descents. I’m pretty new to this, but I’ll get there with some more practice 😂.
What's up my dude, how are you liking the Tech 4's (I'm guessing they're V4) on these longer descents? Any noticeable heat build-up or traveling brake point?
I really like them, yes there V4’s. I swapped them before going to France to race E2 which is a 3 day enduro. One decent was 1000metres over 9k and the brakes worked faultlessly. I’m a big guy so I’m asking a lot of the brakes, I can’t recommend the V4’s enough. I have even spent the money and swapped to them on my other bike.
@@A_bit_better_than_average Okok good to hear! Iv'e been on E4's for a while, Tech 3's. Whenever I do full laps at race pace the last 20% of the track they'll start acting up a bit, May need to bite the bullet for the upgrade. I'm 100% a Hope fanatic so It's not all that bad to get another set 🥸 Are you on vented rotor's as well or standard?
@Frorideism Im on solid rotors not vented. I was a bit unsure if the move onto the hopes was the right thing. A friend of mine had the V3’s and he always had some slight issues. But I can say I have had absolutely no problems with the V4’s hence to buying a second set.
This is literally the first set of continental tyres I have used, basically I fancied trying something new. I didn’t have a problem with the maxxis tyres I always use and I think I prefer them. I will try the enduro soft next before I fully make up my mind.
Hi mate got the same bike. What do you reckon to it?Only ridden mine twice both atDyfi and from my limited skills it seems pretty good.Got the Dh bike coming soon as well.Recovering from shoulder op at minute so unable to ride😥.Nice video mate👍
Really like the bike, it’s so fast. I would like the DH bike but can’t warrant all that money into something I will only use 3/5 times as year. Hope you recover soon and get out on the bike 🤟🏽
That's a proper boys room full of all 2 wheeled madness! Such a lucky fella! The build looks fantastic too. Way too much bike for my meagre ability but great to watch the build up. Best of Luck to you with your racing, being 58 I just ride for pleasure now and my Mondy carbon Raze pulls me out of the shit more often than not! My Crafty also flatters my lack of fitness 😁 But I'd obviously love to try that 170 on the silly stuff! 😈
I’m very lucky, the Mrs says I’m having a mid life crisis 🤣 you need plenty of toys though.. The bike is just mega, I have recently been to Dyfi and bike park wales I’ll be uploading the video soon.
@@A_bit_better_than_average hoping to do BPW in the New Year. I've got a Mondraker Carbon Raze that should get me down there nicely! But those Atherton bikes look VERY cool with the Ti lugs etc...
I have had all carbon frames for the last 4 bikes and can’t say I have had a problem. I will say the carbon reserve wheels are by far the best wheel I have had. The amount of times my aluminium wheels went out of true was unreal. I’ve had some big incidents with those carbon wheels and they are always straight 👌🏽
