Hello. I make videos primarily to share thoughts about various topics I find interesting. So far, they've mostly been about language learning, but I have many videos planned about other topics as well, such as art, programming, games, and so on!
linux mint has been the easiest for me, but i am definitely not an average person and i’ve spent many years doing advanced stuff on computers. my main issue with linux is, unsurprisingly, nvidia.
Everytime it takes me some time to watch a recent Livakivi video and the videos never disappoint. My mum thinks I'm crazy because sometimes I'll have these videos on repeat (and in the background) for no other reason than "I like this guy's voice and editing". Thank you for making videos!
Dude, why didn't you just reinstall Windows. Or use the Repair option. Also, using a command line command to remove the Windows Store was a stupid idea; it probably caused all your system issues.
Noita spotted!! 😮😮 I love that game! 9:55 I wonder if that's an xorg thing. Xorg is super dated compared to wayland. That or the linux drivers for Nvidia. Wow I was right. I haven't used linux in a while. But I remember being told by my friend to stick with wayland when setting up a display server on Arch Linux. I like Linux, but it's still missing HDR support, and proper adobe support from what it seems. I really need to spin up Linux again and give it another shot. But I know I'll still be using Windows in the end. I think a solution that could work would be level 1 hypervisors. It's basically a virtual machine but communicating with the hardware more directly. I remember Nvidia being a pain in the ass to set up with that configuration though. I hope that's changes.
Recent convert to Linux from Windows here--my take on Linux is that it's definitely a switch with a high learning curve that requires a lot of patience. I started using EndeavourOS (which is Arch-based; hey, now I can use the Arch memes unironically), and in the few months that I've been using EOS, I've had to reinstall 2x, struggled with random bugs (no hibernation, AMDGPU threw random errors with my card), and learned way too much about the Linux OS. That said, once you get past all the bugs and the learning involved, Linux can become quite stable, and you're finally free from the monetizing and over-coddling clutches of Microsoft. It's not a perfect transition by any means, and nor would I recommend it to everyone--the amount of research and debugging I've had to do is probably beyond the patience and skillset of the average user. But if you do have the patience, technical expertise, and time, then at the end of the day Linux is great. It's a refreshing change of pace finally understanding and having control over my own OS. Or maybe that's the Stockholm syndrome talking, IDK.
For me i wouldn't change Monterrey osx if i had to use MacOs, tho is not secure . Is way better than Sonoma ( i called it sodoma cause is hideous for me) . Anyways i rather work in Linux than MacOs or Windows windows is my last choice is horrendous is a bootwear os especially windows 11. Is more stable than years before. But for me windows is just to play is the only thing it does seemlesly
I have greatly expanded on my toold to learn japanese (including talking japanese to myself), however some days I have less energy than others, and there it is nice to just do a little duolingo
Go and complain to nvidia for there crap closed source drivers. Put the blame where it belongs. Oh and check the rest of your hardware. Seems to me that your RAM isn't fine. Pro Tip: don't use your editing software to do the actual encoding save your work in ProRes or DNxHD and learn the power of ffmpeg.
Im trying to take a mini itx pc on a plane, do you think I would be allowed to take it inside my backpack or would i get stopped at security, im not planning to include any water cooled parts so im assuming its just the same as a laptop right?
It's kind of worrying that Linux has been updated and developed so much to be more and more open to new users and casual people. Yet these basic small things are such a huge problem. And for so long that it seems Linux users just take it for granted. The best and most important thing for any software or tool is to be as smooth and natural as possible. Nobody would genuinely like a game that had input issues and already required you to manually add keyboard input in the first place. Make it a smooth experience and people will love it.
As a Linux fanboy, I'm always painfully aware on how difficult it is to set things especially for newbies and on the many usability bugs even I face and annoy me at times. However I didn't expect MacOS to be THIS scuffed. Like wtf? So many third party apps just for features Windows and Linux (!!!) users take for granted? At this point it makes sense to buy a Mac only for the hardware, while in the software side you could just throw MacOS in the trash to use Asahi Linux or sth.
I tried Ubuntu First then PopOS and at last Linux Mint DONT EVER TRY POPOS ITS TRASH and Ubuntu and Mint are kinda usable but i didnt liked them so Fedora KDE it is xD I am only at 6:55 BUT WHY POP OS WHYYY??? WOULD YOU DO THIS
@@StripesInTheYT In my experience, unstable and unresponsive and many Quality of Life features from Windows doesnth exist. With Linux Mint and Fedora KDE until now ive had far better Experiences! And yeah you can Customize Linux how you want i know, but if the Basis is trash ill just use something different
Nice. I recently got V1 Max and installed my preferred Gateron G Pro 3.0 Yellow switches from my older K2 V2. Originally I ordered with Gateron Jupiter Banana switches which I didn't like, think I am more in to linear. Now I have ordered TTC Frozen Silent V2 switches, which should arrive in a weeks time, and am hoping it will make my keyboard much more silent and enjoyable, not just for typing but also for gaming. As per mods I did the following: 1. Removed the original foam from the board and instead used 4mm Practik Base for vibration/sound dampening (orange) and 5mm STP Biplast sound insulator (black). Both are used in automotive and sound industries. 2. Added Poron switch pads 0.5mm on top of PET sheet 3. Tape mod with 2 layers 4. Added Poron 0.5mm pads under stabs and the stems, and re-lubricated the stabs as well (was thinking of changing them to Durock V2, like I did on my K2 V2, but these stocks look good) 5. Added O-rings between the bottom and the top case where screws go in. 6. Changed to Cherry PBT Double-Shot Dark Blue/Black keycaps set (usually comed with Xinmeng A66 keyboards) I'll have a Reddit post later on the mod, but for now you can see what I did with my K2 v2 here (www.reddit.com/r/MechanicalKeyboards/comments/1com73o/comment/l3gz8f2/?context=3). I am very much satisfied.
That’s the doubt I have while watching Japanese videos with Japanese subtitles turned on. I wondered am I even improving my listening if I’m basically comprehending most of the content through reading instead of listening. But if I don’t turn on subtitles, not only I may make mistakes, I won’t understand many words or phrases that I’m not familiar with yet. I guess it’s okay to keep the subtitle on for the immersive training
I started Duolingo 45 days ago with the purpose to find my way through somehow when I'm on vacation in Japan. When I look japanese videos on YT I can already get the gist of most "usual" sentences and things to express when walking around the country, ordering food, asking for this and that, etc.. Reading is of course a whole different level. But my goal isn't really to become a native speaker but to be able to navigate through a country on vacation. For written things there is still Google Lens or Apple Translator as last resort. And so far I think Duolingo covers exactly that.
Is windows really that bad that you need a different operating system? Like do you get less work done on windows at the end of the day but using windows. Probably not so why bother switching?
It's so funny to hear, being russian, how foreigners talking about my language. I was started to learn english about month ago by reading "Clash of Kings" by George Martin and viewing RU-vid videos (I was learned only german in school). This is my first try to write something, and i sure i make a lot of mistakes with punctuation and grammar. In any case, i believe, that sometimes i can do this correct. (Commas was stood like they be stood in russian). Thank you for the video!
I always wanted that secret "Windows that just works" but the people talking about it always refuse to give any useful details on where to obtain that version. I think If I ever actually got my hand on that thing. I would almost certainly still be on Windows. I know that realistically speaking I am not that much of an idealist. If I really was I would not still be eating meat. Or at least way less and more high quality. But with the support end of WIn7 it just became unbearable.
I'm doing duolingo right now and for sure it can be useful when it comes on practicing your vocabulary and learning a few words, but it can't be used as the only or main resource to learn. The course itself is too repetitive and wear nonsense sentences you can't even assimilate in real life.
we found him.... The guy who uses mac as it was linux. with all this "ok, I fix this this with my custom script". Generally just use linux mint with same effort and it be banger. Also, dude.... U now... U can and should adjust fun speed... its .... its not harder than doing ur own scripts for mac
