My passion for making videos started at a very young age. Born and raised in a small village in the north of Italy, I moved to Hong Kong in 2017. There, is where @sferro21 was born due to my never-ending eagerness for creating content and an increasing need for eye-catching, short and impactful videos. Since 2019 I live in London. I am a strong believer in emotions generated by photos&videos and I'm always looking for unseen perspectives and breathless compositions. In this channel we explore strategies, techniques and tools to improve your photography and the business around it.
What off camera flash do you recommend that will work with a smartphone? I'm going to be doing portraits outdoors So it would need to be battery operated. I have a Samsung
Ringlights are made for flat lighting and specific kind of catchlights. Same reason they make beauty dishes. And there is a reason they call them that. There is no advantage to using a ringlight they way you are demonstrating. You should buy a better light that allows you to use modifiers if you’re going to use it differently.
I think you and most other young people have completely missed the idea behind ring lights. I was about to give you a history lesson to explain where they came into use and the look that photographers were after when they first started using them for portraits but then I realized it would be much simpler to ask you one question; why use a ring instead of any other shaped light?
Thank you very much Simone. Very helpful. Can I apply this to recording video too or do I need to change something? Btw you both look very attractive like pro models.
Last video i watch was comparising dynamic microfones, and i have to say; i have to stop under minute watch this just because this annoys me 🙊 (Edit: i check newest video after that and it was wayyyy better 👍)
Thank you, Simon, for the explanation. But i advice to look ad your mic or sound of it. It sounds if your voice is constant clipping of that you are using a distortion... . Maybe the incoming volume of the mic is to high? It is in the lower frequencies.
What app are you using on your phone that synchronizes with your prof camera? Can you share your camera settings to bring the dramatic portrait effect?
About "flat light" Well duh its flat, people use the ring light for the catch light in the eyes not for "cinematic look" then you're better off with a softbox
Thank you for your video! I just bought one of those ring lights yesterday with the phone holder in the middle. I didn't like it and thanks to your video, I will purchase the light separate. It makes so much sense and so many things I'll be able to do with it separate! Thank you again! Keep up with your videos...I'm learning so much🥰
Two years later I have found your page, because I'm learning/teaching myself mobile photography and scouring the internet for ideas and happened upon a video of yours and just stayed and taking in ad much as I can absorb. Thank you very much, Simone. 😊
