Hey everybody! Welcome to Honey Hollow Homestead! Wondering what my channel is all about? Well, I'll do my best to explain it. When my husband was forced to retire earlier than he had planned, we had to shift into high gear to move out of the expensive state of New Jersey. Fast forward to our move to Kentucky! We are LOVING it here! But, we have a lot of work to do! The land we bought had been allowed to go fallow and the home that was on the property had been torn down. So, we are basically starting almost from scratch to build our homestead. Come along on our journey! See the discoveries I make, both good and bad, as I explore the land. Watch the process of making decisions based on those discoveries and then building our homestead around them. So, fasten your seat belts, this could be a bumpy ride! Mailing address: P.O. Box 713, Tyner, KY 40486 I have been asked several times to add an Amazon wish list: amzn.to/2TMCvzq
The only problem with that, in a circumstance like Helene, event the wells were contaminated. The more options available, the better the chances of having good water. Of course, if water storage is overcome by flood waters, it is still useless.
@@HoneyHollowHomestead I've stained a lot of things, just not something that needs to be stained. Of course, the majority of my stains are from grass, dirt, manure, etc. 😁
Yeah, the mud makes things more challenging, and it takes longer to get things done because of it. But, as you know, things could have been a LOT worse! Grateful for the smaller volume of mud.
When you find that remote put velcro on it and mount it by the door. That's what I did got tired of looking for it!! We have that sticky red mud here to and boy it can be so nasty
The rain has been a blessing. It has cause my fall grass to jump up great. It’ll grow well for another few weeks, making great winter pasture. We are so lucky. What they were predicting for us and what we got is so fortunate. The Carolina’s got what we were supposed to get
It's nice to have the grass growing, but unfortunately the mud has been growing here as well. Holding up work on my retaining wall and handling system. But east of us got hit HARD! My sister is in NC, but in a safe part. She has friends in TN in a rough spot, but safe. Wider spread devastation than what we had here in KY a couple years ago. 😢
Amazingly, east KY seems to have avoided catastrophe. Just some light debris on the roads, nothing serious. Lost power for about 2 hours, that was it. Prayers for all those east of us that got hit HARD!
Ya that rain puts off so many things that need to be done here as well,it's been a bad mowing season here, seems the grass is always to wet,and regardless it keeps growing lol, stay dry my friend 😉and take care as well👍😊...
@@HoneyHollowHomestead a little worried that if it does not stop raining soon I will have to dig the ditch behind my house deeper right now I'm on oxygen until I can get my heart fixed but you do what you have to do. It's been raining 4 days now
Got the wood looking good. I have a sander just like that one. It came with a hole punching jig, the holes help the sawdust blow out., probably I've lost that but the sander still runs good.
I like to use dowel centers. You just drill a hole in one side and then put the center in that hole. Then you align both boards and give them a light tap which make a center punch mark on the second board. Drill the second board, glue and clamp. The glue does all the work the dowels or biscuits just hold things in place till the glue drys
So good to see you on your tractor. I had a problem with my pole barn leaking. I used used roofing. I caulked and caulked and caulked but could never get rid of all the leaks. I finally had to replace the roof.
It felt good! Used roofing is good for some things, but not all. My goat barns are built with used roofing. What holes we couldn't reuse we used Flex tape on.
The MDs who push pure carnivore spread anthropology disinformation constantly. EVILution is their religion. Jesus ate and served bread to over ten thousand families. He created everything including herbs/ plants for our food. Colossians 1. I can go on for an hour, but the fact is that those MDs are just learning about nutrition. Some of us have studied for decades going back to Joel Wallach and hundreds of other experts. Reject the fake unscientific anthropology of millions of years. The Bible genealogies show less than 6500 year history. Different Bodies adapt to different diets for different reasons. That is not a proof for monkey to man. Those Drs deny the truth of God's True Word while wanting to make $ from Christian viewers. I reject MDs altogether because 99% reject the Bible. Jesus saves ,Not drug pushers. BTW I'm Evangelical/ Baptist. The 7 Day Adventist followers of the demon possessed Ellen White, was very wrong . Jesus ate lamb as the Passover required up until His crucifixion. He created fish for many families. There's no command against eating meats other than that it is a doctrine of devils.
When Calamity died I did a Necropsy and she had intestinal torsion. Part of her intestines twisted and cut off blood supply and nothing we did worked to cure her. I even took her to the vet and the vet couldn't tell what was wrong. The vet thought it was pneumonia. Calamity lived (suffered)for 5 days before her internal organs that had died caused toxins in her body that killed her. I wonder about this for Franky since you did so much good to help him and he still passed.
@@HoneyHollowHomestead maybe but maybe not. B vitamins get used up fast and goats have a very fast metabolism which is why they get frequent relatively high doses of stuff
I need to get one like that. I have to block the sunlight so I can see it. And im😢 always afraid I'm gonna accidentally touch the wire at the same time.
