This version originated with American folksinger Jean Ritchie, who was about to sue Bob Dylan for cribbing it's melody and chords for his "Masters Of War," but Dylan's management quickly settled with her for $1000 USD -- a fairly grand sum back in the 1960s. Yeah, Mighty Poplar was in town the same night and I found out pretty late. I had presale SJ tix for Denver. I would have gone to SJ in Boulder (sold out early) and seen both had I known.
