Hmmm... Planet Earth has 8 billion people. So drawing better than 99% of humanity meats to draw worse than 80 million of people? :-). But jokes aside - your method looks effective and I`m going to try it, Thank you.
Thank you! I'm working on my website to make it easy to reach out for business enquiries but for now you can shoot me an email with more info on dustin.granola@gmail.com :)
I take the feedback to heart! Congrats on being a filmmaker. I'm finding solo film-making to be such a comprehensive and multi-skill endeavour, I had no idea it would hook me so much!
@@massa_art, brilliant. It's another way to express yourself. Writing and making shorts is a cathartic activity. Like all art I suppose. I do wish I could draw though, it would help so much in planning my films. I used to use stick men (just to get the perspective) but have recently started using a program to create storyboards.
you need more subs. great production value, humor an just fun content. dont stop, big things will happen with this quality. ps i cant get rid of my phone. wouldnt have found your account without it lol
Hmm ur telling me i already draw better than 99% of people. odd i don't feel like a good artist. I drew 3d boxes + shading can imagine things from different angles etc. Never use references, yet i cannot draw the things you are perhaps there are still good skills you've learned i have not. Developing good control and technique isn't a waste either.
Developing good control is definitely foundational to everything else, and like everything else you might want to layer on top, the way to get that is through small, frequent, and consistent intentional practice sessions :) btw, the imagination side of things that you noticed you can do is no small feat at all! it will serve you well in your art journey 💯
I love the analogy you centered this around, it’s a super creative (and effective) way of looking at a problem everyone can relate to. Videos of this length presented in this way are a pleasure to watch. Great work on not only the editing but also the art you made and the outro song!
@@massa_art creativity on a whole nother level😂😂😂... I have been struggling for the same thing but when you said charge your phone like a pet that's when everything started to make sense because I was doing practically everything that you've listed but treating my phone like a pet. 💯
It’s so nice to watch you. I can tell you’re a passionate artist and these tips are amazing. Thank you for sharing your kindness and sense of humour with us
Always has been the same for me too, it’s very odd, I think it has something to do with how strongly you visualize something in your brain, which can be a negative, when your perception overrules the actual object your trying to interpret
Every professional artist uses reference for paid jobs that consist of real world objects, people, places etc... If you want to draw made up stuff that's fine but if you're being paid to draw Tom Cruise on a 1963 Harley Davidson motorcycle with an F16 fighter jet soaring overhead in the background, you can't just glimpse at a few photos and kinda make it look like a guy on a motorcycle with a plane and expect the client to pay you for the work. Animators are constantly using reference and character sheets while they work and comic book artists would be looking up how super hero costumes look from various angles for consistency between panels and issues, guns, vehicles, clothing, hairstyles and landmarks to add realism to their drawings. There seems to be this stigma among mostly non-artistic people that looking at reference is somehow cheating or tracing. It isn't. You can't possibly draw something with complete accuracy from memory unless you're some sort of savant with a photographic memory. Even if you learn to draw anatomy, knowing how every muscle, arm, leg etc... would look like from every angle without using reference or models would be near impossible to make it look right to the human eye. You think Michelangelo carved the statue of David from memory? Reference is a tool artists use to create and it's just as important as the instruments they use to put that idea onto a particular medium. You shouldn't be trying to be like Kim Jung Gi, that is a lofty goal that will only leave you feeling inferior and frustrated. Few artists will ever be able to achieve that level of drawing skill, with or without reference. This comes from someone who loved to draw as a kid, can draw better than most people but because of self doubt, perfectionism and not being able to get what was in my head onto paper, lost the love of art. Try to be the best you, not the 10,000 best somebody else.
yes i never understood why some people have a problem with using references 🤷 the difficulty is in learning how to use them properly to inform your designs
Everyone has their own gift or talent. Drawing without construction lines from imagination is unique to Kim Gung Gi. Find out what your gift is. It’s good to learn from Gung Gi but you cannot wear his shoes you have your own. Again find your gift or talent that’s unique to you. Ask God and pray to the God of Israel or God the Father. Ask him what your gift is and once you find it you will shine your own unique way. I had to learn this the hard way I kept trying to be like Gi but there’s nothing wrong about learning his style just don’t be bummed if you can’t draw like him. It’s ok. 👍
