This is seriously the worst music i’ve ever heard. It’s so bad i’m laughing hysterically with my friend who is a big fan and who understands what i’ll like and what i’ll hate perfectly. This is at least hilariously bad. I’m was SHOCKED that it wasn’t a joke band. All jokes aside - I do give them their props for being experimental and doing their thing, their way despite an almost instant and instinctual recoil from their sound. 😅
I had listened to their albums long ago, I like Octopus the best. Some is too repetitive and hard to listen to, quite frankly. They could've done better. Too bad, I do like them. Some good ideas, but could've had more than one lead singer, and the vocals don't stand out clearly and strongly as some other bands, and their compositions could've been more song-like with strong melodies and well-developed themes. They should have striven to have made some solid popular hits and taken a lesson from ELP (Lucky Man), Rick Wakeman (Journey to the Center of the Earth) and Yes (Roundabout). That's why they didn't make it big. I'm not saying be like the Beatles who had producer George Martin, but they didn't tighten up their compositions and arrangements. Look at the way Jethro Tull had a few great hits, Led Zep took off and kept going, and later, Pink Floyd's DSOTM, Grand Funk Railroad's Closer to My Home, and Boston's More Than A Feeling album.
Sorry, the drum solo doesn't fit. Liebestraum would say so, his piece construed over the out-of-synch drumming. Better placed in a different composition.
I REMEMBER THE SIMON DUPREE SONGS FROM THE 60'S. THEY WERE GREAT AND THEN TO GO AND INVENT PROG THROUGH GG. THE MUSICOLOGISTS WILL BE WRITING PHDs 100 YEARS-----LEGENDS
🐙.. sometimes Three Friends ties with Octopus but I usually have Three Friends as my go to pick after not listening to them for awhile and the idea strikes me to throw on some Gentle Giant for one reason or another. The first seven albums are all fantastic!
