Welcome to my channel! My name is Stephen and I’m starting this channel to document my journey of being an Apprentice Electrician to one day becoming a Journeyman. I’m new to the trade, I just completed my first 3 months and I’m excited for what the future holds. I’m very proud of myself for trusting God and making this decision. Grateful for the opportunity & to share my story, Trust The Process..🙏🏽
“For we live by faith, not by sight.” 2 Corinthians 5:7 NIV
I like your vids , I'm glad u hit the gym too, I'm going to ibew local 26 to figure out how to become residential electrician although I'm not good at all I'm math, keep up the hard work brother 💪
@@tahasamak8247 Appreciate the support Taha! Congratulations on going to IBEW I always hear great things about them. Hopefully everything goes great with you becoming a residential electrician, You Got This!👍🏽
Hello Stephen! I appreciate the content you make and glad you’re enthusiastic about becoming a journeyman electrician. I can relate the same the goal because I am an apprentice too! Please don’t take this as hate I only want to you be become the best you can be. I’m not sure if your journeyman or foreman advised on doing things per the NEC. But there were a couple violations. 1. The minimum depth on UF cable is 24 inches, as far as I can see in the video you simply ran the wire under the house and only partially buried a small portion of the wire as you ran it through the pvc to complete your light fixture. It would’ve been better if your foreman supplied you with a sufficient amount of pvc to run it under the house and run normal stranded wire so the wire is protected from the elements and wild life. It’s only a matter of time before a squirrel starts to to eat away at that exposed UF cable casing at minimum an inconvenience the client to potentially causing a fire. 2nd violation pertains to strapping pvc. At minimum pvc needs to be strapped every 3ft. Again I’m not trying to hate on you I’m only looking out so you can be the best you can be.
@@fabiantaveras8458 Fabian I appreciate it, I don’t take it as hate at all.. I’ll definitely take a look in the code book & check it out.. I’ll also ask my journeyman about. From my understanding I thought it was ok not to have it in PVC if it’s under an area that’s closed off. I could be wrong I’ll definitely ask though! Appreciate the advice & One day at a time..🙏🏽
@@TheApprenticeToJourneyman personally I would have ran PVC conduit under the house to better protect the wires. If you're running UF cable and you aren't burying it then it kinda defeats the purpose of running UF to begin with.
Apprentice pay does seem too low, it should not be more profitable to be entry level in customer service, sales, etc. that are much less demanding jobs. But maybe it pays off because your pay can scale up pretty quickly as you gain experience unlike many jobs.
@@EileenTheCr0w Yeah man it’s tough starting off especially if you have Family, Bills etc.. But the more experience you gain & get better everyday I do believe it will be well worth it in the long run!
Im thinking of applying to ibew after watching a bunch of videos and yours have been my favorite. Feel like a friend talking to me. Do you learn more by filming yourself and then watching the videos back when editing? That seems like a great way to maximize your education, might have to do that if i get into this
@@pizzadrugmule4207 Thanks for the support Brother I really appreciate it, I’m Glad some of my videos have been helpful for you. That’s great I’ve heard nothing but great things about the IBEW, hopefully everything goes great with your application! Honestly I do learn a little more when I’m editing, trying to learn as much as I can.. Thanks again for the support!👍🏽
I would say when someone gives you an opportunity, Because they will..🙏🏽 Make the most of it, Be a sponge learn as much as you can & Enjoy the journey the ups and downs because there going many.. You got this Brother!🙏🏽
It's crazy man because before I became a diesel mechanic I actually had started to go to school to be an electrician. But life happened. Still worked out. But this is great man! 💯
Loving the content my guy and truly lucky i found your channel. 17 and have a clear vision on what i want to do for a career. i feel very driven to learn any little thing that’ll help me with this career path i want. Congratulations Brother! It’s ok to be a little nervous that’s natural, Just enjoy the journey & have the right mindset and be a sponge.. You Got This!🙏🏽
Hey man, you've been such an inspiration for my start, im 20 ive applied to couple apprenticeships here in san deigo, playing the waiting game so far, hoping one day to get my start as apprentice.
What’s Up Brandon! I really appreciate the support Brother.. Definitely hang in there someone will give you an opportunity, when you get it make the most of it & enjoy the journey.. You Got This!🙏🏽
It really depends on what your situation is, I think that it’s best to try to get with a company & learn on the Job to get the experience. But if you feel like the school route would be better right now that’s cool too. I think you’ll be fine with either decision, pray on it!🙏🏽
Brother I have the RIDGID set but I don’t like it for new construction. Especially when you work on building with a lot of stairs. The handle tends to break. Good thing is you can Always take it back to Home Depot and get a new one for your replacement
Thanks Deion for the advice, Hopefully if I get the RIGID set it’s doesn’t break on me.. I really just need some extra space for my tools.. Thanks again for the advice & The support!👍🏽
I just graduated highschool and dont know what to do. I see this as an opportunity but im also afraid of heights and i have little to nun experience with tools and etc. do yk if i should still give it a shot?
I definitely think it’s a great opportunity if you’re willing to put in the work. I was similar to you when I started I didn’t have a lot of hand tool experience either. Don’t let that stop you, You Got This!👍🏽
You’re absolutely right Nate, It will definitely be your best friend! Congratulations on your Electrical Journey, One day at a time.. Thanks for the support!🙏🏽
It’s still working just fine for me, I Love that Backpack! Hopefully you can catch it on sale, when I got mine it was 80 bucks! Wishing you nothing but the best on your electrical journey..👍🏽
Great video. I turn 1 year as an apprentice on 6/26/24. Very inspiring stuff my dude. The thing that keeps me going is knowing that too many people want to be influencers and are afraid to get down and dirty with hard work.
Congratulations Brother on hitting your 1 year mark that’s a Big Accomplishment. I was super excited when I hit mine. Thanks for the support just doing the best that I can do, One day at a time!🙏🏽
I salute you brother. I'm a Journeyman out of Centex IEC here in Austin Texas for almost 8 years. I love the trade and I feel everything you saying about health and being in shape for life and the field of being an electrician, lol. Peace and keep pushing
I really appreciate it Brother, Praying one day to be where you are. Definitely have to stay in shape it’s a must..😂 Thanks for the support again Brother!🙏🏽
I’m starting trade school next week for the electrical program but I don’t see a lot of vids on youtube about it, you inspire me to start my own channel to inform people if it’s worth it or not
Congratulations Alejandro, Enjoy the Journey Brother. So happy for you man, Let me know how the Trade school is & I definitely think it’s great for you to document everything and share your experience with everyone. Thank you for the support & You Got This!🙏🏽
Good topic to discuss. You not alone in this journey. We are more alike than we are different. My journey was similar to what yours is now. Trusting the process has its moments of difficulty but it will always make you stronger in your faith and in your trade. My wife and I will be celebrating our 30th wedding anniversary next month. What I have learned from my experience is to always make time for God and Family before anything else. Other things will come and go but family will have a greater part in life.
Congratulations to you & your wife 30th Anniversary that’s amazing hopefully one day my wife & I can get there.. It’s definitely tough trying to find that balance but trusting in God & Keeping him & my family first is a must.. One day at a time.. Thanks for all of the Advice I really appreciate it.
It's good to be a presenter of something but you should show more of this bag for example if you want someone to watch next video or subscribe,I didn't understand good this video because of lack of explain and bag
I’m 18 coming straight out of high school and been wanting to become an electrician. The thing is I don’t know where to start. I’ve been recommended a 6 week certification course but don’t know if it’s worthy, any tips?
What’s up Andres! Congratulations on graduating High School! You have a few options you can go to trade school for electrical if you would like or you could start with a company with know experience & learn like that. It really depends on your situation, if your parents are ok with you going to school it’s nothing wrong with that either. I went the route of just working with know experience because of my situation. I would pray on it & you’ll make the right decision. Don’t be to hard on yourself, You Got This!🙏🏽
I’m not sure where your located but in Texas We have TDLR, TEXAS DEPARTMENT LICENSE REGULATION which is the website where I ordered my license from. Look at your state & they should have something similar & apply for the electrical apprentice license, mind was 20 dollars and came back in a week. It’s just good to have so when someone hires you, you will already have it..
Speedy recovery!! Also you might want hit abs last, especially on days you do squat or deadlift. If your core is tired you're more likely to get injured
You know my doctor said the same thing, But I hate Abs that’s why I do them first to get it over with. But I think you’re right! Thanks for the support Brother..🙏🏽
Yes sir, The stretching, Icing & Medicine has helped but I feel like it’s getting better day by day… Definitely easing back into it..Thanks for the support Brother!🙏🏽
