Ferret Tails is a channel for pet owners, with a special emphasis on ferrets. You will find lots of DIY sew and no-sew tutorials, ferret care/enrichment videos, and some videos on other domestic pets, like cats, dogs & fish!
I have 5 ferrets, Weasel, Lucy, Ruby, Bear, and Oscar. I also have 2 dogs, Blondie & Brasco, 5 cats, Little Foot, Multi-grain, Scoop, Mommy Cat, and Claire Belle, 3 indoor fish tropical tanks and a goldfish pond, which houses our carnival goldfish Dailey and his offspring.

I have a boy with adrenal and now I have to take one of my girls in for a checkup because I believe she has it too. I have 4 total, 2 boys and 2 girls and I love them! I wouldn't trade them for anything, no matter the monetary cost to me to keep them healthy.❤
@@Karyssa87 I feel the same way! I love my babies so much. They are priceless to me and I would do anything for them. I lost my first and oldest ferret on Saturday. He lost his battle with lymphoma, my heart is broken but I know he’s dooking pain free now. He is my ferret that made me fall in love with ferrets and he changed my life in ways I never could have imagined. I’m missing him like crazy. His brothers and sisters are missing him too, I can tell they’re all a little down.
@@moahermansson5953 I can’t take credit for this absolutely amazing piece of work. This octopus was made by @littlefurfleece (she has a RU-vid channel and an Etsy shop. She makes the most incredible pet beds and accessories. She’s honestly my inspiration. I hope to have the time to make things this amazing one day.
@@FerretTails Yes of course! But I really miss your tutorials, you are so good at teaching and you have taught me how to sew. There is no one as inspiring as you!☺️
@@moahermansson5953 awww, thank you! I am hoping to get back to making videos soon. I miss it so much. Life got so busy and it hasn’t slowed down (in a good way) but my RU-vid channel was the platform I started from and I credit a lot of my success with FerretTails to my RU-vid channel and all the people that have me through it along the way. I want to get back to it as quickly as possible. I’m currently working on getting my LLC and expanding my business, so hopefully that will allow me to finally stop my 9-5 and work solely on FerretTails. Which would give me more to make tutorials again!

@@FerretTails I'm glad to hear everything is going well for you! You really deserve it! I watch your videos every day. I run my own business, I sew accessories for small animals from recycled fabrics. But still haven't got anything sold. I have no experience of running my own "business", so I think it is difficult. But you give me hope! So thank you!
@@FearEeatsTheSoul I wouldn’t say that, I just think it’s information some people may want to know before going into it. I’m not deterred by it, but I can tell you it’s hard to watch them age so quickly and it gets pretty expensive at times. To me they’re worth it, but that may not be true for everyone.
Owning pets is a commitment as strong as having a family. You are an amazing and informative pet parent. I’m sure others will agree, the knowledge you share is priceless! Thank you ❤
@@laurielahmed-powell6159 aww, that’s awesome! I’m so happy to hear that! When I first got my ferrets I had such a hard time finding videos that were easy to follow, so I try to make my videos as easy to follow as possible. I’m hoping to put some new videos up soon, if I can find some time. I really miss making them.
I just purchase some seeds I have an aquarium already set up I have plants already growing I have a betta a snail and a few shrimp already I wanted to drop the seeds in after I clean since I have alagea grow
I would really appreciate it if you sewed accessories with a royal theme. I'm going to take part in an exhibition that has a royal theme, but I don't have any good ideas (on hammocks)😊❤
I got it from Amazon. I have 3 sets of panels connected together. Each set is 24 panels, 12 plastic, 12 metal. I’ve been using it for 3 years and I love it. It’s sturdier than it looks. I leave it up all summer and take it down in the winter and we move it to mow the grass. The only thing is it doesn’t have a top so I never leave them alone outside. I live basically in the woods and we definitely have prey birds around and I don’t want them getting my babies. And the ferrets can absolutely dig under the panels if given enough time. So I just stay in the pen with them like a giant human scarecrow 😂 amzn.to/3V0T4Ex
How bad they smell depends on how clean you keep their area, what foods they eat and if they’re spayed/neutered. Also bathing them too often will cause them to smell significantly worse because it washes the natural oils off their skin and then their body over produces those oils to compensate for being washed off. But they definitely have a little bit of a musty smell although most people that own ferrets don’t seem to mind it at all. I’ve noticed the smell is either one of those things that you don’t mind or you really dislike. If you really wanna know what they smell like go to a pet store and pick one up and smell their fur and then smell reduce that smell by at least 10 because pets stores, especially in the US are notorious for not keeping the enclosure clean and also feeding them the worst kind of food on the market so the smell that comes from a ferret in a pet store is far worse in my personal opinion than what it would be once you got them home in a clean environment and switched them to a food that was actually good for their body.
I should’ve also mentioned that even though my ferrets are very well taken care of and their area is super clean. They definitely do have a bit bit of a musty smell. Nothing you’re gonna do is gonna take that away, but it’s not horrible. For example if you come in my house, according to my mother who is one of the most brutally honest people I know she can only smell the ferrets if she comes into their room, she said she can’t smell when she comes in the house, but their room definitely smells a little musty. I wish you had a scratch and sniff button 😂
Ohhhh, thanks a lot for your Comment❤️ i really appreciate your time :) we went to a breeder but they only had 2 boys 1 year old and not neutered. I love your Videos and keep watching them ❤️
@@L.16.9 when you get them from a breeder, they’re normally not fixed, which is good because the ones you get from a pet store in the US are spayed and neutered way too young, which is what causes all those cancers and things that ferrets get. The ferrets that come from pet stores in the US normally come from one big giant, corporate breeder called Marshalls Farms. Most people that get their ferrets from a small breeder will wait until the ferrets a little bit older and either have them spayed or neutered or get an implant that suppresses their hormones but the small breeder ferrets are actually more healthy most of the time because they haven’t been spayed neutered so young and because the pain normally have a better bloodline. All of my favorites are pet store ferrets and I love them with all my heart, but so far all my older babies have been diagnosed with cancer in one form or another and I’ve had multiple surgeries for different things and a lot of it you can be linked to them being spayed and neutered too young.
I just use warm soapy water or a mix of warm water and vinegar if I’m trying ti get rid of smell. The vinegar is a natural disinfectant and won’t hurt the ferrets.
They are as long as they don’t eat them. I would just keep an eye on your baby make sure that he/shes not going to eat it. That’s really the main concern with most toys for ferrets.
I am making one of these for my tiny chihuahua. She loves sleeping on my chest while I am gaming. I always hold her up with a blanket and she slips down. So I bought a sweatshirt and I am going to use a throw blanket to make the pocket. I think she will love it. Thanks for the video!
So I didn't watch the whole video or all the comments but I have an elderly ferret 7 yrs he is having trouble using his back legs collapses after 3 strides but still eats and drinks not sure what to do took to vet they couldn't decipher between an enlarged spleen or tumor gave meds.for enlarged.spleen was doing better but now back to collapsing and just doesn't seem like he wants to be here anymore.but is hanging on
Also blood sugar was normal no insulemia no fever no anything the exotic vet thought it could be took trays couldn't tell if spleen was enlarged or was tumor
@@kimmykakkezz I just went through something similar with my oldest and we ended up doing an exploratory surgery because all his labs and X-rays were not showing the issue. After the vet went in, he was able to confirm he had adrenal disease on his left adrenal gland, a mass at the end of his spleen and he did several biopsies that came back positive for lymphoma. They removed his spleen and left adrenal gland during the surgery and he is now on medication twice a day for the lymphoma. He’s doing pretty good. The vet said we caught it early and he could live another 2 years. He sleeps a lot now days but he always gets up at meal times and he plays like a young baby every once in a while. Without the surgery I’m not sure we would have been able to figure out all that was going on.
Thank you for sharing this. I got this today using your Amazon link. I have two ferrets that love being outside on leashes but I often feel bad because it's too hard to walk them both at once and sometimes I think it'd be nice for them to be able to be a little more free in their movement. Like being able to put tunnels out and stuff. I think this will be fun for some outside time. I'll definitely keep an eye on them because I also live in an area with too many animals that could hurt them and everything you said. I'm excited to sit out with them.
I miss taking my boys out so much. Had to move back to CA (where they're illegal to own) post divorce a while back and family health has kept me here since, but honestly, not having my woozles was the most painful part of the divorce.
