Fascinating! I am interested in incorporating this into my Orthodox views. I agree that the text isn't itself inspired, but we need actual continuities of authority for any of us to discern the scriptures. We just simply could never get off the ground; especially those of us who can't understand the writings of an obscure French intellectual (I say that in love of Girard, as he's my biggest influence) or critical historical methodology. The Spirit's work too must be embodied in actual manifestations.
Just a quick correction. I think Michael misspoke when he talked about the Dead Sea Scroll in question. It is actually 4QMMT (not 1QMMT). If you want to look it up, I'm sure there's stuff online, but it also appears in the "New Translation" of "The Dead Sea Scrolls: A comprehensive translation of the controversial ancient scrolls ....", tr. w/ commentary by Michael Wise, Martin Abegg, Jr., and Edward Cox. It begins on page 454 of that work and is titled, "100. A Sectarian Menifesto," which states that 4QMMT covers 4Q394-399. Just in case you needed to back up anything that Michael so awesomely puts forth here.

An important, contextually valid analysis - even more important in 2021that in 2016 when first presented. You speak with wisdom and understanding that can move the church forward into the 21st century and away from outmoded theological constructs that belonged to another age. As an Anglican clergy person, our Anglican community in Christ has never been based on theology structures and propositional statements of belief; rather the Anglican focus is on knowing God through worship and discerning what God is up to in the world today. You have a lot to teach those who process to love and serve the God revealed in Jesus Christ. I've just purchased your book "Knowing God?: Consumer Christianity and the Gospel of Jesus" and am very much looking forward to reading it.
I feel like you are misrepresenting Peter and James. Reading the letter to the Gentile believers in Acts 15, it does seem that James in particular was a bit on the conservative side when it came to the Jewish observances that Gentiles should keep, but he also expressed concern that the Gentiles not be overly burdened with Jewish legal practices. And let us not forget that Peter was the first Apostle to break from dietary laws in order to fellowship with Gentiles. There is the question of Antioch, but there may be good reason for Peter's actions. If he was focused on ministering to Jews at that point, then eating with Gentiles would be an obstacle to his ministry in that period. To paraphrase Paul, "For the Jews, I became a Jew, for the Gentiles I became a Gentile."
Protestants and Evangelicals don't have the right cannon at all. Martin Luther and John Calvin threw out the Deuterocannon. Jesus quoted from the Old Testament Canon which included the Deuterocanonical books. It was talmudic unbelieving Jews who threw out the deuterocannon about 400 years after the time of Christ. They adopted the masoretic text. The talmudic Jews didn't like the fact that the church fathers were using the deuterocannon to prove that Jesus was the Messiah. So they remove the duderocannon. John Calvin and Martin Luther adopted the masoretic text which is the Septuagint without the deutero cannon. So Protestant and Evangelicals don't have the correct Cannon that was established by the church in history. They have the Old Testament Canon which was adopted by unbelieving Jews. The masoretic text. So if you are using the wrong Cannon your doctrine of Sola scriptura doesn't work. This video is retarded.
Im getting the sense this type of view is an invitation for us to all enjoy God together. The dominant calvinist view has always seemed to be a gate keeper to God. The suffering saint type of faith, alone in this dangerous God hating world whom God Himself hates, I can't accept. Nature reveals God's essence, He looks at creation and says it is good! This reminds me of the verse about the Spirit of God, those in step move with the spirit and no one knows where it came from or where it is going. For a few years now I've been having this growing sense that something is amiss, I wasn't "converted" by Brian Mclaren or others like him, I don't think that's he's aim, but I believe God is working and has perhaps helped me discover a community who are like minded. Still I tread carefully and treat no man as 'pope'.

You are over complicating, truth is that Paul was a false apostle. Which is why he speaks through both sides of his mouth. I can understand why you would come to this conclusion BUT usually the simplest explanation is the true one. The false teaching was based on one verse in Genesis that Abraham was justified by faith. He then throws the law out. But ti cover his ass as this was tooblatant he says stuff like "do we then throw out the law? No by no means!" This istypical for afalse messenger, an Anti Christ, as the devil is the author of confusion.

Not at all. Jesus, Paul, Peter, we’re all born Jews, lived as Jews, and died as Jews. He’s using it here to mean Christians who want to keep the Torah.
A bit of this is not sitting right. You are calling into question the authority of the bible, yet you are still able to quote Jesus. How do you have any confidence you have the "right" Jesus? Also, do you not perceive the irony in your derision of Christians who "have all the answers"? Not to mention your derision of worship, tithing, etc. And what you're talking about, "we are all one" is going right back to pantheism. What are you saying then to all those times God singularly set himself apart from creation? Did the Hebrews just make it all up? I suppose if the bible has no authority at all you can believe whatever you want, and I am curious as to why you even study it so. All that said, I am still very intrigued by your "worldview" and by the notion that the Bible must be viewed through the correct contextual lens. But at what point does it lose authority and one simply apostates altogether?

And he means in the furnace that every time you try God's word it comes back. Just like metal in fire more pure. And In hell there's fire and it's not symbolic
I'm struck to the core! Thanks for sharing Jesus with us. My (perceived) enemies will benefit. Usually those I disagree with politically. Which I find difficult because their politics are negative toward the marginalized in society, but just maybe I'll move beyond those feelings like you did relying on the guidance of God.
We're all ultimately star dust? Much of Michael Hardin's world view/method of interpreting reality - seems to depend heavily on modern theoretical "science". The primary basis of these theoretical sciences is Hermetism and the Kabbalah. Sheesh...
These people ARE lost we need to pray for them and ask God to cast this man down in Jesus name. Let him be accused. I've studied a lot of this and he knows what he's doing twisting and leaving important things out in almost every topic.
