That station is almost identical to one in Mountain View, Calif., all the way down to the overpass ramp. How bizarre. Oh,. Sunnyvale. Mystery solved. Mtn. View is the next stop for that train that started moving first. My home is just a few miles away. Final destination is San Francisco 50+ miles to the north. The train the video was shot in is heading to San Jose and beyond. I've never ridden the train south of M.V. so I never saw that station before, but I have driven on that on-ramp many times.
Tickets sold by kiosk these days. They call it "progress". He can get off, buy a ticket at the station and then catch the next one in 10-15 minutes, or maybe an hour if on the weekend.
@@Novusod An education is a wonderful thing. You should try one. On weekdays CalTrain runs every 15-45 minutes. Google CalTrain Schedule for more info.
Most stupid man ever he said “I am going to get off at Sunnyvale” but doesn’t and is okay with the cops coming and just says the most random thing? STUPID
Sounds like that bell is gone to the wayside needs repair - I need repair. I need repair from the old SpongeBob episode that was the voice of Hieronymus Glove
When I’m trying to sleep this specific bastard is blowing his horn out unnecessarily.. I live so close to Lawrence & Sunnyvale station too. Most times it’s nice, sometimes not eeally
Hi Jason! Troy here. These are some pretty nice railfanning videos. I don’t have the time to do these things, but when I can it’s super fun! Anyways, love the F40PH. How did you get the cab shots, did you board the coach at the back?
Hi, I recorded on the back of the train. You can only record on the back of the nippon sharyo gallery cars. The bombardier cars have have something over the window in the back so you can’t record. If you want to find time, I recommend recording in the morning at rush hour or in the afternoon also at rush hour because there are more trains then. There are less trains on the weekend and it doesn’t matter when you record on the weekends because there are only 1 northbound and southbound train each hour. If you want to get more trains, go to Santa Clara or San Jose Diridon, you might get Amtrak or ACE (maybe Union Pacific).
@@CasualJBplayer64 Thanks Jason! I had no idea you did railfanning. It’s pretty awesome! I plan on going to England with my dad to visit some steam heritage railways in the future. Wish you the best, Troy
great shots! From here we can really see how even though the caltrain corridor looks straight on the maps, the tracks are twisted here and there. I wonder why they didn't fix the track alignment during electrification. The tracks need to be straightened in the future to accommodate the hsr anyways. Bad planning as always
question: what trainset do they use on the last baby bullet of the morning? and do they use the bombardier cars in any of the 7-8 am trains from Redwood City?? I want to take it tmr after 5 years of not being on Caltrain and i want to know
I used to take caltrain to work and Giants games all the time when I lived there. Can't wait to get a chance to ride the new models. Are they still running the older model trains? I saw an oldrr one parked in Redwood City.
The older ones should still be running for another few months, they will also continue to run from gilroy to San Jose but I’m not sure. The new trains should be running in a few months.
My video is not running backwards. The southbound train here can only go on the northbound track because of the other electrified Caltrains on the southbound track. Later in the video the train switches back to the southbound track
Not really, the right of way is fully cleared. They're just doing the mandatory 1,000 miles with each new trainset before service. The Bay Area is also launching Open Payment in the Fall, and a bunch of systems will increase their schedules at the same time. Caltrain is just waiting for everyone to bump frequencies at the same time. The actual electric trains themselves will have a "soft launch" already next month. They'll be replacing various existing trains in service. So the new trains are actually coming to service next month but the boosted schedule will happen with everyone else in September.
