Scout Prepper is a new channel from the Scout Tactical Network. This channel will feature prepping gear reviews and theory videos for the beginning to the advanced prepper.
Always liked them, very innovative in their time. especially the M17 which have likenesses to the old ALICE packs. It really takes 2 ALICE rucksack straps, LC-2 recommended, and the small strap back at the bottom of the pack with one metal hook connects to the upper centre eye on your individual equipment belt ... that's right! That system incorporates a backpack with the fighting load! :) . I got the M3 in a lot, and it was the old-style non-fastex buckle assembly, which is somewhat of an IQ-test without the medic manual, and mine...came without either assembly nor manual! It uses some of the archaic hardware like on old LC-1 and LC-2 shoulder and waist straps, so I'm putting together my own solution now, because that bag is too good to let go :)
I built something a little Badder using the Harbor Freight 3800 Hard Case. IT has a 30 Amp LifePo4 battery, a 10 Amp Charge Controller a dual 3 Amp USB, a Cigarette Plug/ Also a Cigarette Plug for the Input from the Solar Panel, a 100 Watt AC Inverter, and aa 10 Amp Powerpole rotary Switch. It can handle up to 125 Watts of Solar, and it has ALL of the Adapters it needs for EVERY Solar Connecting system on the Market. It DID Cost a little over $500 to build: But the advantage is that if something DOES go wrong, as the person who BUILT it, I can FIX it, lol!
I have two M-3 Medic bags. Interesting that the M-3 comes in different sizes, depending on the date. One is a first aid kit, the other is for my Beaver craft wood carving tools, works great for that by the way . I was thinking the M17 bag might make for a good light travel carry on bag. It looks like it would hold 3- 4 days worth of cloths and toiletry's . I just picked one up on E bay for $29 for my 4 night trip to Cali. I also did purchase a Korean era shoulder strap for it. The back pack straps were just too expensive for me right now.
It's crazy to think 9 years later this system is about $649 before taxes if you can get it new. I got a used system that didn't have all the pouches or camelbak for $359
I took a couple of my pouches similar to your radio pouch that wasn't water proof or resistant I went to tractor supply and they had small spray cans of flex seal of black and a can of green so I bought a few green spray cans of flex seal and I turned my pouches inside out and lightly sprayed them and let them dry and I sprayed them with a second light coat of flex seal and let them dry really well and I have to say that flex seal is a great pouch sealer. Water doesn't penitrate it at all. I'm almost tempted to spray the inside of my back pack and see if it works great in it also. That way when I use my bivy back pack cover on my military back pack it should keep everything dry in side it . I have dry bags in side my back pack that works very well just wondering if I might make my pack more water resistant because I have got caught up in a hurricane before and water comes from a lot of different directions all at once. And that's the time you will be talking to the good Lord for sure and no matter how good you have your one man military tent staked down and guide lines taught 80 and 90 mph. Winds are terrible. I servived and my tent and gear but it took some doings to keep it all there and praying that big limbs or trees wouldn't wipe me out. If I would have been a radio back then I would have had some warning and maybe I might could have gotten out of the wilderness sooner. So now I have one of the best weather radios I could get. Even for tornado warning and lightning storms it will let you know before it ever lightning. 30 something miles out in the middle of the wilderness is not a good place in a bad storm and being by your self you just got to hunker down and do the best you can do!
Question: 3 poles + stakes + fly, is that a viable option without the tent? I found a fly cheap, have piles of stakes and in Colorado, do floorless year round. If 3 poles, fly, stakes work, a stove jack and small Kifaru Box Stove could be added..
I bought my 2 strions in 2014 for work (mechanic on night shift)They are absolutely wonderful still work great (2023). And now have the streamlight switchblade. Same battery, same charger and has a UV light as well.
Does anyone know how you use the hole in the head on that's what I'm looking for in a video. I've never seen a arrowhead with a hole in the center before for lashing I was just curious if they had a way of doing it
Nobody is going to survive for very long on wild plants. You'll need more calories than that, and that amount of calories come from protein and fat, and they mostly come from animals.
Nice fire kit and video! There is still room for a ferro rod and striker in the pouch, which I would definitely add to the kit. Thanks for posting! Well done!
No fancy names? Aaaw... I put so much thought into naming my Bergen project lol, it started as A.S.P., abandon society permanently. And quickly evolved to the M.O.A.B. A lot are starting to see belt order as the way :-D
Great video I got most of the set but would love a vest in the level 7 got the pants but like you I’ve never worn them I’ve worn all the other ones a bunch I’m in nw Georgia it gets pretty cool here I do have barter stuff if you want to get rid of the levels you don’t want . Eric.
Great video. I'm thankful to see the packable gear. I'm very much looking into the HQ17 as my other camper is seeing its last days. Are you pulling it with an F-150? How does it tow? the camper I currently pull with my F150 3.5L eco boost twin turbo is a couple 2000lbs lighter. If you are towing something similar, how is it going for you? thanks for any info.
Wow!! pleas tell me where you got your bag for $10.00. the norm for an M-3 on Ebay is around $25-$35 The lowest I have seen is $20.00 . And $39.00 for an M-17.
Why do you Americans feel like you need to run around in ex military uniforms shooting off guns everywhere? What are you preparing for? Really interested in finding out why you all are so paranoid? All the best.👍🏾🇬🇧
My survival I keep a hobo reel to fish as well as a gill net I tied my self plus df4 traps and snares and arrow and spear heads. Trapping is great it’s a passive hunt you hopefully gather food while getting wood water shelter sleeping. Or set traps and hunt fish 🎣 it’s increasing the odds of getting food by having multiple ways to get it
Man, that intro is obnoxious. Had to turn my volume down. Hunter here... map n compass dude. Just picked one of these up. For literally 35 bucks. New. 75%off. .... mark where your deer is down? Where your truck is? Gtfo. Godamn I can't wait to use this thing. If this is half as good as people say it is, ill eat my hiking boots. Can't wait to find out.
There must be something wrong with your regular strion because mine that I've had since launch shines across my field and you can see it on the trees. Hell I've used it to spot deer randomly
I've had my strion since they first came out and I am still on the original bulb and the only thing I have had to do is buy one replacement battery and I carry it on me every single day all the time for 80lm it shines quite a ways that's for sure and they give you a spare bulb in the end cap wrapped in foam which is nice just like how Maglite puts a spare bulb in their lights.
I own this pack but when I look online I can't find a reliable listing of the specs. One listing says the main compartment without sustainment pouches is 4,000 cubic inches and each sustainment pouch is 500 cubic inches a piece making the pack 5,000 total if u add the two pouches. But other web pages say the main compartment is 5,000 and with both pouches its 6,000 total. And other pages list different. The molle rucksack seems big but it's a few liters less then the ilbe unless ur using all the pouches possible. The ilbe main compartment is 75 liters. They add the lid space separate. The lid is 7 liters making the ilbe 82liters. The assault pack is 27 liters which makes the total ilbe 109 liters. And the assault pack actually fits amazingly on the pack. The molle rucksack can get huge but the basic parts only make it an average military size. But I just don't know the correct molle rucksack size.
I have this ruck and you're right about various sources listing various specs. Actual specs are : The main ruck is 4000 cubic inches ( which is 65 or 67 liters, something like that ) capacity, with each sustainment pouch being 500 cubic inches each, which is where I think a lot of people get confused on the 5000 cubic inch thing. The newer Marine FILBE has a 5000 cubic inch main ruck. I set my large MOLLE 2 up with the 2 sustainment pouches on the sides ( as intended ) with a 200 round SAW gunner pouch MOLLEd under each side sutsinment pouch. I added 2 more sustainment pouches on the front main field of MOLLE, as that seems the most efficient use of the space and they help carry my cold and wet weather gear. Lid flap MOLLE carries my entrenching tool and pouch. Are you sure about the ILBE having a 75 liter main ruck ( before adding pouches )? I thought it was 90. Anyway, they both carry more than I realistically can and both are great rucks. I always use surplus, as military gear is superior and more long-lasting, rugged and durable than most civilian rucks. The civilian tactical rucks that are as good or better than military rucks, and often used by military personell, are generally in the $500 + neighborhood. Too rich for my blood, especially when you can get 2 surplus rucks and still have money to spare for gear and ammo for that much
I ordered a Doobie and wanted to watch a few review videos. While you didn’t review the Doobie, yours was the best review. I got all the information I was looking for. Thanks for posting.
@@drewspencer9769 it’s great! It has become a piece of gear I use quite often. I’ve used it as an over quilt in my hammock, take it on camping trips with the family, and used as an extra layer over my sleeping bag in really cold conditions. Definitely worth the investment.
I have a almost brand new 3 modular sleep system sleeping bag, totally awesome!!! I've lived in a camper year round a few years ago, ran out of propane during a super cold weather stint up in Maine and used my 3 modular sleeping bag it got - 20 degrees and i was warm
From a retired Navy Corpsman I advise putting instruments in the elastic loops. The suture packs go in the pockets. It will secure your instruments.Just some advice.
