Hi, folks, I'm Shane welcome to my online craft school. I'm a LARP and cosplay builder and I run Ttc Craftworks here in the UK. this channel will be focusing on tutorials and how-to videos on my own practices on build LARP safe and cosplay weapons armour and trinkets. I normally live-stream my builds over on twitch Weds to sat morning afternoons under the same name pop over and say hi. if you want to see more of my work check out my Etsy store or social media links below. don't be afraid to get in touch and ask questions. here at the craftworks, we like to think if you can imagine it, we can build it.
Good day dear Sir, In the future do you plan to make a Larp saber? The reason I ask is my future project is to make a Mongolian saber sword. I can’t use the rod you use because it is completely straight. I was planning to use a PVC pipe formed to the proper angle by using the hot sand technique. Then glue in PVC caps & do the rest l the way you do it . What do you really think of my idea? Should be safe .Sort of making a boffin but formed as a Mongolian sword.
I use thin coats and allow plenty of drying time. Sometimes might need to give latex and gentle rub down with some high grain sand paper just to score it.
Excellent, thank you. I'll give that a try. I've always just used latex on all of the coats. After trying Flexi Paint, it's so much nicer to paint and highlight with. I didn't want to miss out on i . lol
Thats awesome would love to see a build one day. Making it larp ready takes a level more thought for durability then cosplay armor. Curious what technique you may use.@@ttccraftworks8469
@@ttccraftworks8469 thanks appreciate the reply. It's very hard to find the right things here in Italy... Foam craft is not very popular so most of the time we have to import form the US
@@ttccraftworks8469 if it's not too much to ask could you tell me the measurements (length and width) for the 2 different 8mm thick foam... To make it exact around the rod diameter?
Great video as always. I have question though. Is a latex spray something that only comes in a bottle to be used in a spray gun or would a product like Plastidip or Hexflex provide the same sort of functionality?
Plastidip and hexflex are not strong enough to protect the foam in larp situation and you can buy latex and brush it on. But the finish won't be as good.
i love how slim you're able to get the blade while sticking to all the stab-safe regulations. all the stock stab-safe spears i've seen look like a sponge on a stick lol
this one was really fun to watch come together. never ceases to amaze how one minute you can have a rough lump of foam and some glue covered strips, the next minute you've got a monster sized bagel lol
As long as you got 6" of open cell foam and 2" of closed cell foam between tip and end of core you should be good. As long as as open cell foam ain't to soft
