I'm new on preply. Do you think I should believe any offer if someone told me they will provide me student. But they're gonna have some of there comission.
Hey! I'm about to teach my first trial lesson to a 4 year old. First question: how do you upload exercises from onestopenglish & linguahouse & english4tutors to preply so that your student can also see the exercises? they seem to be in pdf format ? also how do you explain english to a beginner if they dont speak any english at all? feel like the exercises I'm finding on preply are too advance for someone that speaks nothing
Hey Julia, first of all you've picked out the exact same three websites that I use for my resources which is good. I've never had a problem sending PDF files through Preply to my students. Otherwise, what you can do, is share your screen during the lesson of these files and go through them with your student too. If you are unable to send PDF files you can screenshot aspects of the content, for example the reading or the exercises from Onestopenglish, and send the documents to your student that way. @@teachercook-e2572 do you have any advice about a platform which has a clear structured plan for a course of sessions - i find preply difficult to find the right thing and those other platforms a bit random with lots of different pdfs - dont really know where to start, can you advise anything?

Just 1 question: When a student books a trial lesson (or any lesson) with us, do we get a chance to chat with them beforehand to know what they expect of us, the topics they would want to be taught, just so we can prepare a better lesson in advance and be more confident?
Thanks for the kind words! Yes you do get to chat to them firstly about the lesson and their learning intentions, just make sure not to exchange any personal details or suggest speaking outside of the platform as this is against Preply's policy prior to having the first trial class.
Hi Alex. I'm enjoying your videos. However its 2024 and your vodeos are 3 years old. There are many changes since then on yhe platform. Coupd you make a more recent video pls for newbies like me. Btw i haven't got even 1 trial class still.😅

After watching an older video of yours, I'm glad to know that you ended up increasing your prices Also, you're the first person that I've seen on RU-vid giving a real life example of how asking for a review can end up badly. Kudos for that I use PowerPoints during my classes and I send them to my students after each lesson. In all of these pp, there's a slide in the end with "Did you like this lesson? Your rating helps me a lot :) " + link to the website Here where I live is too late, but tomorrow I'm gonna check preply, to see if I can also start there, since I wanna start giving more classes. Honestly I don't think that letting students negotiate prices is a good advice. People don't do that with language schools, so they shouldn't do that with tutors either. If someone asks you that, my advice is to say "For the amount of work that I put into preparing the classes, I can't keep charging the current amount. What we can do instead is to adjust the duration of the classes so we can keep working together".
You talked about settings, the only 'Setting' I have is the one next to the 'Community' button but there is nothing about booking 2hr before the lesson start, where are these settings?
Click onto 'Calendar', then on the left hand side press 'set up availability' and you'll be able to find the settings there that I talked about in the video. Hope this helps.
I'm really thankful for you Alex for doing this video! I have my first trial lesson with my first student on Preppy tomorrow, and I was a bit confused and anxious before watching this video. But not anymore after watching such an amazing video

I missed a second lesson with a student. Not a trial though but I think my profile is hidden. How long will it be hidden please. How can I avoid being hidden?
Be aware of Preply tricks on teachers. Firstly they don't pay you for trial lessons while they charge students fully. Secondly, they close your account whenever they wish with no notice and taking all your money from your Preply wallet. This happened to me. There is no trace of my account on Preply now as they completely deleted it with no explanation and they even do not reply my emails.

Thanks for the kind words. I believe some students can now choose to book 25 minute lessons as well as 50 minute lessons. I also, on occasion, get students who are still able to book 60 minute trial lessons.
Hi. I'm new on preply and I'd like to ask couple questions. I'm going to have a trial lesson this evening, but I don't know how to conduct it. I have an extra teaching material but I don't know how to apply it on the platform. Do I have to worry about it or preply provides an extra teaching material on the trial lesson?
Good question, you're welcome to use Preply's provided materials if you wish or your own materials. I usually use free lesson plans from 'onestopenglish' or 'linguahouse'. I feel these are often rather up to date and engaging for students of all levels. Hope this helps
Preply provides their own materials but you're welcome to use your own too. Preply doesn't make you use their resource. If you would like to use your own materials I would recommend using 'onestopenglish' or 'linguahouse' for free lesson plans
As you would for any regular Zoom meeting. Just make sure to take one or two screenshots during the Zoom meeting as sometimes Preply ask for proof that the meeting took place outside of Preply. By teaching on the Preply site the lessons are automatically confirmed since they can see that the lesson took place.
