I nearly died when I broke my neck playing rugby in 1973 at just 15 years old. I've been disabled ever since. Now, 52 years later, I use this RU-vid channel to share my journey. I can walk a little with crutches, but I rely on my wheelchair to get around-and as you'll see, I love my cars.
Join me to see how I manage as a disabled driver using hand controls, charging my EV (electric Mini), parking issues with my blue badge, and handling my wheelchair and electric trike. You'll also see the cars I buy and sell.

These cards should be available for FREE from any local store / station already, pay-as-go cash top up. NONE of this "App" Crap Smartphone rubbish required. Smartphones are Gov-made nonsense.
I can’t think of a better place if you’re on your own. You might find some obstacles in terms of accessible pavements, and things like that, but the people are extremely friendly, helpful. Service at the airport is excellent Taxi drivers are happy and helpful, hotels are excellent. Go for it.

What a nice picnic on the beach. We are still loving the mini cooper E. 12,000 miles in. It had its 2 year service and the dealer gave me a mini countryman. It was huge. I really did not like it. I am used to the one screen so that was actually nice but it was anemic compared to the electric mini and it felt like a Kia soul. The convertible looks so nice. Although it’s so hot here in Arizona we could only use it at night.
Hi, great video, can you tell me how your hand trike managed the hills back up to your motorhome please. How much effort did you have to provide, or did you just use power only? How were the gear ratios etc. Many thanks, Carol
Hi thanks for watching. Some parts are ok, but the main road down to the hotel and pool is very steep, no way you could get up there with just front wheel drive, my wife had to push and she was exhausted by the time we got to the top. I’ve since got the Triride MTW which is two electric rear wheels and adapted so that you can have a 3 x 3, that can cope with the deep hills. I haven’t made a video of that yet, but will do in the next few weeks.
I know crazy decision, seemed like a good idea at the time. Given the choice now I’d have the Merc back, the experience of the drive is important to me.
At the end of the day it's only you that's on the motability scheme, and all the lower end cars have five seats and a boot , the scheme is there to help you get about. And That's that 👍. If you want extras or a bigger car then you pay the extra money, a five seater car will be fine for most disabled people, and all adaptions are free. So I can't really see your point.
@@Paul-ey1ct I’ve been using the scheme for 30yrs+. All I’m saying is that it wasn’t too long ago when you had your pick of whatever car (virtual) you wanted and the deposits were never more than £100. This past 2 years you can’t touch most good cars for less than £1000, and that’s even cheap in their eyes. As we all are, I am entitled to give my opinion about what I think.
@orthodoxblue7252 my Mazda 6 was 799 upfront 5 years ago. Just about to switch to Ioniq 6, that was 3500 but went up to 5500 on July 1st, that's too high imo but at least there won't be many about😂
In the UK, if you have a permanent disability you may qualify for Disabled Living Allowance. This financial monthly support payment can be used to pay for a Motabilty car lease. It is a charity that was set up in 1977, They lease company is contacted and leases about 750,000 cars. The cars are 0% vat so 20% cheaper, plus insurance and servicing are included. It’s a wonderful scheme.
Such a fantastic video as always. It was lovely to see you both again and I'm so happy your car is running well. I missed so many cars on the day because my mobility scooter was playing up where the gravel was deep. I pootled along on the grass edge up so far as the lake and didn't realise more cars were the other side of the hedge. I thought that area was for caravans and motorhomes. Thankfully I saw many on the A17 before the show.

This is a great video Roger. I have even spotted cars on here which I missed whilst there. I thoroughly enjoyed the day out and although I suffered back pain on the journey home, I felt surprisingly good the next morning. It's just a huge shame your new car didn't win the best new Mini. It was certainly the best one there.
Hi Warner , Wow so many great classics . I love seeing the older mini’s . I could spend hours in there . 😀. Me and my wife just purchased a new Toyota GR86 for our son’s high school graduation . I told him to get a mini but he was set on the GR86 . 😂 . Glad you’re making videos again . All the best .
Hi that you that was helpful, how much was the first pod point, was there a pre authorisation. I charged my tesla in one of it and changed me £30 as pre authorisation and charged it to 80% from 20%. Does it cost that much

My Mini dealer up here in Stirling had a huge delivery of their entire allocation of 2024 Convertibles in March - they still have a few left including the BEV convertible that arrived in early 23 unsold……… I took delivery of a BEV Countrymen S E Sport L3 on 9th April and loving it. Will be taking my first EV road trip to Harrogate from Stirling in it next week - Plan A reckons I need 1 charge stop on the way south, a top up before leaving Harrogate to come home and another stop somewhere on the way home. If I had done it last year in the Cooper S E would have been 3 charges each way so I went by diesel power in the `defender instead iwith zero fuel stops.

Enjoy We collected my wife's first motorbility car in March. A hyundai kona N line s EV. was surprised we could choose any available colour for no extra charge, so metallic red it is. Took 3 weeks from order to delivery, they came and fitted a wall charger free of charge before it arrived. On the day my wife was unwell and they were happy for me to collect it and take an e signature from Tina. Almost seems wrong to be given the keys to a £43'000 car and we only paid a £1'500 excess (dead money, but its our first and I work,so why not). 428 miles in so far and it wonderfull.
I wouldn't pay £55k-£60k for *ANYTHING* from China. Admittedly it looks absolutely beautiful but no doubt it will be reporting its journeys back to the CCP and when China want to cripple the world so as to show its strength, all their cars will stop, along with every charge point owned by a Chinese company.
To be honest I thought you got great service from the gent that came out, he really tried to assist you. That BP station is crazy understaffed. He had obviously not done it before, had no training whatsoever and managed to wing it. This is Great Britain, that's what we are currently going through, as a business owner myself it's really difficult. If you had to sit in your car for a few minutes for someone to come to you, happy days, people are ringing for ambulances and waiting for hours instead of minutes. I agree apps feel very remote and disconnected from the real world, but staff don't have time to answer phones in a petrol station, they click a button and come to you. Looks a great charging place, in a particularly bad area for getting reliable charging. Well done MFG.
I wasn’t complaining about the staff? You completely miss the point. I don’t want help, I want to charge my car myself! There is a design specification, to build disabled accessible public chargers, BSI pas1899. MFG do not follow the standard and are in breach of the Equalities Act 2010 as a result. They are a huge company and could build access but they don’t, because it’s cheaper to use slave labour and apps, in an attempt to get around the regulations.

@@ctsljBut the Japanese weren't previously known for selling rubbish, even though their motorbikes were nicknamed "Jap crap", that was just snobbery from those on British bikes like Norton and Triumph etc... Chinese are known for selling things which break into pieces and electric cars which lock people in, or burst into flames. I absolutely love the beastly style of this MG. It looks good from every angle. Is it a rag top or a retractable hard top? If it were a rag top I would carry a fire extinguisher and a blade to slash the roof in an emergency but if it were a hard top, I'd avoid it completely
2-3 years ago there were a lot of free public chargers, made owning an EV a sensible choice, but now very hard to find free charging, and electricity prices have risen a great deal. Some companies are gouging because they no EV drivers don’t have a choice.
