About the pairing... If a pairing means two drivers in capacity to make the team score the maximum points : RB is out because of a only one driver politic And if RB has a useless second driver, McLaren has a second driver who is a handicap (Piastri wins when Norris should, and is nowhere when the team needs him to back up Norris). Sorry but suddenly the 2025 Mercedes pairing seems to deserve the benefit of a reasonable doubt.

To help solve the problem of overtaking on a corner, they can draw a line on the track from the inside of the apex to the outside (probably at right angles to the tangent of the apex), so that everyone knows where the apex is. They can even have detectors in the cars that receive a signal from an emitter at the apex. We already have these lines and emitters at drs detection and deployment zones. So why not?

Drivers ARE allowed to be heavier. The limit sets a minimum, not a maximum weight. The problem with bigger drivers is that they choose to aims at the limit that sets the minimum, so they are not punished by the extra weight. It's not that they are required to be at this limit. It's the minimum.

We also need to recognize that Fred has done a phenomenal job at Ferrari, so far. There have already been so many strategy wins in 24 alone than strategy wins from 2019-2023. He’s cleaning out the garbage nepotism at Ferrari but it’s take longer than I thought.

The best F1 podcast imo buut I dont understand why so many say Leclerc statement he can learn from Hamilton is so bad. Its pure hubris to say you cant learn, how else do you keep improving? Every loss, overtake etc you should learn from your competitors. Newey happily acknowledges he learns from other teams designs. If nothing else you can learn what not to do.

"In order to be ahead at the apex Verstappen lets off the brakes". That is categorically wrong and proven wrong by the telemetry. Max brakes at ~50-60% initially and gradually increases his braking. Norris brakes earlier and harder immediately. There is no letting off the brakes, get your facts straight. This fanboyish twisting of the facts is just plain annoying. It add to this general feeling of British bias towards foreign drivers. Right now they may like Leclerc to some extent, but next year, if he beats Hamilton and takes the championship, the hate will shift to him.

frm canada to gb, leclerc had horrible luck and even then he got a p5 in spain, he has been in top 5 through out the season except those bad run of luck. max can draw out the full potential of the car because he doesnt have to worry about the team, it is a well oiled machine but leclerc is in a ferrari and though sainz is nt as good as leclerc, he is much much better than perez. so leclerc has many things to think about: his own team, his team mate and obviously the other drivers. so these mistakes you talk about by leclerc in fp3 or whatever are just an excuse of your bias. made a mistake in miami and missed an entire fp, still ahead of his team mate. he crashed in hungary in fp, still in p4. you wanna criticize, great but give valid reasons. those mistakes are the ones which he pushes the car to place where it doesnt deserve and not to punt someone out of the track or anything. there is a difference

Rosberg is OVERrated. He was a decent driver, but NOT top level, had he been TOP tier he would have won 3/4 titles. Him winning a single title is comparible to Checo winning a title during 2023. The car was good enough but it should not have happened had his team mate performed.

Lando never had a serious chance of winning the title as he doesnt possess the minerals to ever be champion. Now that Lando's slim chance is gone, McLaren now need to focus on the Constructors and stop hobbling Piastri otherwise Ferrari (who have had the best car since Monza) will win it.

Ferrari's form has been there for a while. Monza, Baku, Singapore and now Austin, in race spec in particular it is an absolute specimen. It rides well over the bumps, it's balanced, goes fast in a straight line, turns in when they need it to and it looks after its tyres as well if not better than the McLaren. It's a proper, proper race car and Leclerc is in the form of his career.

Humbly disagree. The way it was before was idiotic and stewards were having to guess if a driver could have made a corner at that speed and guess if they were going to leave enough space and figure out if the driver was opening up or not etc. I don’t know if you guys touched on this because I stopped listening after 28 minutes of the rant. If the bottom line proposal is to change the rules to the driver must stay on track if they’re on the inside that’s fine. Great. Just don’t go back to the way it was before that was madness.
@Grrrrrene
@Grrrrrene 4 дня назад
It is Max who uses the rules to his advantage. This podcast has always been overly critical about Max, this was nothing new. This weekend the stewards were at least consistent. The fact that they are confused in this podcast is just funny. Bottas was fully alongside, contrary to Norris. If you don't understand the rules: fine, but don't judge drivers by rules you don't understand. Again: don't hate the player, hate the game. Also: the whole grass or wall on the outside farce: drivers don't willingly drive into the wall trying to overtake on the outside. The reason Norris risked the overtake was because there was tarmac on the outside.

Another great episode. Excellent analysis from Brad and the rest of the team. I knew that move from Max was ridiculous but I love to get an informed analysis of specifically how it broke the rules. As many have said, this is a legacy of the 2022 manipulation of the racing rules to justify Max’s driving in 2021 and the stewards support of those shenanigans. As an aside, I really enjoy a longer episode so please don’t feel compelled to keep it to an hour. I get lots done while I listen you all.

The stewarding is a mess. Stewards should be treating every incident like it's the Haas of Kevin Magnussen, because you just know if he did what Max or Norris did he'd get a slam dunk 10 seconds penalty. In fact we have seen that countless times this season; like forcing Gasly wide at Monza or overtaking Tsunoda off track in Jeddah. Both times felt like overkill penalties but both justified because the stewards said theyd be harsher this year and that's the way it was going to be. Well clearly only if your a Haas. Top teams get a little bit more leeway, then Max just another level of margin. It's an absolute joke.

The guidelines lines state that, The car being overtaken must be capable of making the corner while remaining within the limits of the track. As long as the driver is in control of the car under braking, the word ‘capable’ doesn’t mean the driver has to. Max was in full control throughout the corner so I think Max cleverly stayed within the rules
@The7yph00n

being in full control, making the choice to take the foot off the break, in order to be first at the apex and therefore going off the track, should not be accepted anywhere.

@@The7yph00n You make up new rules and then judge Max to your new rules. It does not work that way. Don't hate the player, hate the game. Max followed the rules 100%. That does not mean we should like the rules, but he knows the rules and will use them to his advantage every chance he gets. All world champions do this. Lando just needs to lean this. Lando was never going to make the corner either at his closing rate. They both overshot the corner and Lando would have done so too if Max kept it on the track, I don't believe for one second that Lando would have made the corner AND left room for Max. No way. But Lando fans will not see this, that's OK.

Lewis Hamilton drove the worst weekend I've ever seen him drive. The panel trying to conjure up multiple excuses is pathetic. Call it as it is. Lewis got out qualified in SQ, anonymous in the sprint race, qualified 19th and then spun off by himself lap 1. I genuinely think Mercedes should consider running Kimi in the car to give him more time in the car because running as they are with Lewis is not good for either Lewis and Mercedes...

So glad when Brad joins you, he's great 😊 👍. Well done Ferrari ❤👏 It undeniable that Verstappen and Red Bull have the favors of FIA, they still get away with a lot of controversial events. McLaren as well as Norris will have to wake up and be more tactical if they hope once to overtake Verstappen. Right now and unless they have more speed no chance for Norris to take Verstappen in turns' 😅. Very deceived and angry with Mercedes. I feel sorry for Lewis and really glad he will join Ferrari, however bit sorry for Carlos who did an amazing Sprint and another good race. How does Albon must feel about Colapinto performances !

Great analysis by the team who managed to keep bias and emotion in check. Well during the racing rules section anyway, before Spanners pooped in the nest with his (admittedly tongue-in-cheek) derision of Lawson and faint admiration for Franco. After too many years with a number of drivers more than my age it's timely for the young talent to come out looking so good. I'm surprised Albon is looking stale really, but add Bottas, Kevin, Zao, Stroll, and even petulant old stagers like Sir Lewis and Alonso and you have a less than exciting grid. At least Hulk and Sainz are showing their best may be still in front of them in their thirties.
