This brings back memories.l used to cast a net in a little estuary called Broad Creek near Swansboro North Carolina.l fished a good Pier in Topsail once.l think it was called The Jolly Roger.
Thanks for this video. Hope to come to Surf City from Johnston County next week 😊. I’m looking forward to checking out the local artwork! New subscriber.
That is intended for people who arrive early. If you arrive early and the property isn't ready, you won't have the ability to keep anything cold or frozen.
I really miss being able to park at serenity point for free and taking my kayak and going over to the island waiting for the tied to shift and paddling back
I knew the owners when they opened the NY Corner Deli in Surf City. It was their only store for sure. Super nice family that opened it here on Topsail.
Topsail was always our favorite beach, and we spent many years, (from 1967 to around the early 80's), vacationing there. Things were pretty simple back then, not much to do except the putt-putt, but that was fine, as it was all about the beach and fishing. I know things have changed a lot since those days, and I look forward to seeing what is going on there today, although I may be disappointed on what I might see with the development.
You should talk about why they call it topsail Island. Most people don’t even know and butcher the name and call it topsoil… without ever realizing the reasoning behind the name
Hi there. I do mention in another video how Topsail Island got its name. Just not in this one. Appreciate your comments. If there is anything you would like me to cover just let me know. Thanks
I loved having 😊a place in TI. I just sold my Shipwatch Townhouse in North Topsail Island. Before that we had a place in Topsail Dunes. TI is great because it was peaceful and had a lot to do. I will miss it. The problem is the erosion of the beach in the North end of the island. The ocean kept getting closer and closer. The dunes they would replenish, would wash away. The 5-6 years we owned a place there we had great memories.
We are coming to Topsail Beach for the first time in July. What are the crowds like at that time? Does it take long with traffic to get beck to Surf city?
July is our busiest month of the year. If you plan on not hitting the roads a prime time, it's not a long ride to Surf City at all. If you go around dinner time, or an event it will be crowded. Also, if it's about to rain, all the day trippers leave at the same time. You really shouldn't have a problem.

I'd say about 100 yards to the right of the entrance and about 300 yards to the left. The South End offers a pass for driving on the beach as well. I believe it's only during the off season. This year they didn't allow any passes because of a dredging project on the very South End.
