Hi, my name is Ali and I make videos about various topics such as Computer Networking, Career Development, Self Development, Technology and Consulting.
You have saved my day! I have spent close to 90 minutes with AT&T, simply asking them to highlight the difference between the two Gateways. This video explained it succinctly! Thank you 😅
Hii Ali I am Pawan from india. I liked you video, i want to know how i increase my knowledge as noc engineer Currently i am working as noc engineer. At globe teleservices.
Hi. I have this device through ATT. I recently got the Archer AX-10000 to act as my router. I turned the wifi off on the BGW-320 and have it connected to the AX-10000 upstairs via ethernet through the walls. I use the AX-10000 for wifi and also to connect to other devices in each room via ethernet through the walls. I have the BGW in pass-thru mode and firewall and packet filtering off per setup guide of the AX-10000. I don't know a lot about networking and I am wondering if i can connect my PC directly to the BGW-320 via ethernet and it not pose a security risk since the firewall capabilities are disabled and handled by the AX-10000. Is the AX-10000 still using its firewall capabilities to protect my PC even though I will be directly connected to the BGW-320 or does this mean it will not go through the AX-10000 since I am directly connected the BGW-320? If you could help explain this I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
To use your own router, use just connect an internet cable to the router like you would any modem, all of this isn't necessary, Att fiber installed, connected my router to it and I didn't miss a beat with previous settings and extender
Just found your video. I am really pissed off with ATTs 320-500 router is not giving out WiFi signal. Right, customer service sucks unbelievably so much. Agents can only say they are sorry for my problem of no WiFi signal and they suggest signing up for $10/month Wi-Fi extender service for a free ATT Wi-Fi extender that they will send so that I can get a better Wi-Fi signal. I already have a Wi-Fi extender that worked with the previous version of the router that I had for the last 2 to 3 years. This is AT&T Wi-Fi extender model number Air- 920 which will not pick up a signal from this new router. They sent out a technician to install this new router is 320 who told me that I had a whole house signal and the problem was with my television HDMI ports that could not pick up the signal because apparently they were broken. So I tried ordering the AC adapter that converts to the HDMI and plug it into the three prong ports. You know the red white and yellow ports and still no Wi-Fi connection. So I assumed that the problem was with the television since you really can’t get a TV repair person to come out and do anything to these big ass televisions when they cease to function. So I purchased a smart TV that Has. Fire TV already installed and it works through the Internet connection, which I have the Internet connection, but still no Wi-Fi connection. My blink security system cannot pick up any Wi-Fi signal and it was sitting right beside the new 320 router. There’s nothing wrong with my blink system. There was nothing wrong with that television that I got rid of. The problem is with this new router That is not sending a Wi-Fi signal, and I’m reluctant to receive another Wi-Fi extender from AT&T. That is supposed to help this problem. I am considering switching to another Internet provider. I was glad to find your channel and find out what a problem this 320 router truly is. The technicians and Agent on the phone cannot do anything except look at their computer and tell me you have everything up and running. There is no problem being reported on the computer. But if you order this new Wi-Fi service, it should help your problem. Well, I don’t trust anything that I’m hearing right now and I definitely will never trust. Another technician that is not fully instructed or trained on how to check for Wi-Fi and Internet signal in your home. Comcast did this crap about six years ago and I stopped my service with them because their technicians were any Joe Blow that wants to install stuff for them who they do not train adequately And do a terrible job when they come to your house. I need Wi-Fi service in this house but from researching on RU-vid here and seeing many other people posting videos about problems, they are having with the an inadequate Internet connection that will not send out a proper Wi-Fi signal to their Wi-Fi extenders. I know this post from you is a year old, but I have not had a proper Wi-Fi signal since May 6 of this year. I was getting ready to call AT&T and tell them to just please send me out this new Wi-Fi extender that seems to need to be connected to this new router and pay them the $10 a month since all the other Internet providers are all screwed up just as bad as AT&T. but right now I really don’t know what to do because these Wi-Fi extenders are expensive. AT&T wants me to pay $10 a month for some new service that they are offering and they full well know that this new 320 router is not sending out a signal. Just who do you report this problem too I have talked for more than 12 hours to different agents at AT&T trying to remedy this problem. I asked which Wi-Fi extender they were going to send to me and they wouldn’t even tell me which one it was. What on earth is going on. I have been trying to remedy this problem for 5 days now with no success. So, is Verizon really any better than ATT?
I would like to be able to use the ATT router as the main router but use a mesh system behind it for WiFi, would that work just by connecting the mesh system to one of the Ethernet ports on the router? The one area the ATT router lacks for me is WiFi range. I have two of their extenders and neither one of them wants to connect using WPS. I used to have one in the living room to give me better coverage but it stopped working a month or so ago. Just got a new router DW320 from ATT and neither one of the extenders wants to connect.
I will be starting my NOC Engineer (VoIP) Role this coming April coming from a Service Desk Position and this video helps me prepare for it. Thank you so much ❤
Great video man! I about to get an upgrade from my BGW210 to the 320-505 soon, I just wish AT&T service let us use the router we want because I wish I could add my PFsense firewall BEFORE the 320.
That’s me now. I’m an information security analyst. I am preparing for my CCNA cuz I want to move to network admin. I’m burned out with blue teaming as my boss ruined it for me.
You should rise to the top tier so you get the most exposure in troubleshooting. I would then switch companies and move into a deployment engineer role as I did and finally get into designing and architecture.
Hey man, this content is still gold in 2023. I am looking to transition out of a L1 role with a software company and I really like networking. Currently sitting for my CCNA and looking for more day to day vids on NOC engineers. It's not as trendy as Cyber or Cloud stuff right now so the content on YT is far more sparse so when I get good stuff like this it's super helpful. Please keep it up.
I have the BGW-320. Wifi is really good, but my ethernet speed doesn't go over 300mbps. I tried different cables, removed the switch and connect directly to the gateway and I still don't get what I'm paying for, which is 1gb.
