she’s amazing and as a lgbt person in the south she means so much. she is a STAR like madonna or gaga she is saving pop imo. and her style and references are so cool.
Heyyy lauryn..hope you read this. I REALLY need you to react to bad blood by taylor swift music video PLEASE..i swear youll love it if you didnt watch it yet..can you tell when youll be doing it 😭🤌❤️
also, Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess is *such* a triumph for her, and I think really tells her story over the last two/three years. She moved to LA, got to explore herself and her independence in a way she previously hadn't, got signed to a label, who dropped her after pink pony club performed poorly (and the pandemic certainly didn't help). The relationship in my kink is karma was absolutely something she based off of being dumped by her long term gf, which happened shortly after the label dropping her. California is the homesickness she feels, along with feeling like a failure for letting everyone down for failing to live her dreams. She had started working with her new producer on the album but he was also producing for Olivia Rodrigo at the same time and when her career blew up he just didn't have the time to keep working with Chappell, but once Olivia's next album was done he got back in touch with her and they finished Rise and Fall, and she got to be the opener for Olivias Guts tour. At the end of the video you mentioned if next year is gonna be her big blowup year but if we're being honest? This year is absolutely her blowup, her streams are growing at an exponential pace every day and every single bit is so supremely earned. I love her so much as someone who only really was exposed to her relatively recently, and she is doing so much for queer kids in rural areas.
I think artists have a blowup year but I also think they have “their” year. Like Sabrina carpenter has been on the rise but 2024 is finally HER year, idk if that makes sense lol 😭
I am a newish swiftie and you are picking up exactly the same points as I did. Currently at track 11 and we are in sync. The highs are so high, the lows just miss.
Oh please don’t worry, you’ve been nothing but kind about your opinion ♥️ I just wanna give some context about the producer thing: This record was created during a time when Taylor was afraid to answer phones and was scared to trust people around her. So she had a very close limited circle. And while I do agree that a hip hop producer would have put this album into another stratosphere - I don’t think she would have been able to be vulnerable with someone new in a way she has to be to craft her songs. On top of that: Today she is THE TAYLOR SWIFT - everybody would LOVE to work with her, I would assume. But back then? That was a completely different story. It was before we found out Kim doctored the video to make her look bad. Even celebrities she was somewhat close with distanced themselves from her. It was a very different climate for Swifties. The Taylor Boom we’re experiencing now is unprecedented. Also Big Machine had a hand in her craft as well. At the end of the day I believe at that point she did what she wanted but I remember her talking about them arguing with her about including some banjos in (I think it was) 1989 cus they didn’t wanna lose the country audience. That said … I think Jack Antonoff will be producing the re recordings but ohhhhh having some hip hop producers for the vault tracks at least? Delectable. I’d literally make grabby hands in their directions like a kid until it Rep TV dropped, lol.
every time i listen to chappell roan or watch reaction videos all i can think about is how much i want a live band concert recording of her album. i just KNOW that would be AMAZINGGGG
100% agree with your comments on this album. I can say that not every Swiftie thought this was great… I wonder if this will be the one (Taylor’s Version) she’ll change up in big ways.
Hi, new subcriber here... I loved your reaction and I can't stop listening to the album ! I also shed a tear when I first heard 'Pink Pony Club' , It's not that it's sad, it's that you feel that feeling of finanly being free and not having to hide who you are and who you love anymore. I'm from a tiny mining village in the North of Englad and I was a teen in the 90s and early 2000s, There were no safe queer spaces where I grew up. I'm a grown person and my mum still won't 'let me' come out to my dad. That song just fills you up with queer joy and a sense of libiration and the whole album does that, even the sadder songs.. Also, I love that a song about masterbating to someone's photo sounds so freaking beautiful. This aomen deserves every ounce of recognition she gets. This and 'Hit me hard and soft' are my albums of the year so far and I'm not even really a 'pop' person historically.
Btw, as a trained singer I wanted to say that you totally can sing! You were easily replicating the notes you were hearing on your first listen, you were just a little wobbly when landing on them. If you really want to, all you need is some practice so you can hit the notes a bit more precisely. Even that higher range that’s less comfortable for you will get easier if you work up to it with exercises ☺️
So Chappell actually opened for Olivia Rodrigo on her last tour, and is playing a fully sold out tour herself right now, with resale tickets going for CRAZY amounts of money. If she tours again after this one she will most likely be in sold out stadiums, or at least very large outdoor venues.
