My son and new daughter had their wedding reception here, all went well until the waitress spilt boiling coffee down the bride's back then denied doing it. They also forgot to get the wedding cake out. However I've stayed there overnight since and it was really nice with a lovely breakfast.
Considering it's 26£ a night and you get to visto everything (other than the pool (I'm not sure)) then 26£ isn't that bad, no wonder the sytes are closing down
It's such a cool building in the perfect position, but they're struggling to fit the grand building's rooms that are from another time to modern habits, large ballroom areas that would have been used for banquets now look sad as empty bar areas, a room that has a grand fireplace just gets used for gambling machines. Scarborough used to be a classy resort town when the Victorians thought sea bathing was the fancy thing to do, but the high class market isn't there anymore to enable this building to function as it was originally intended.
Great review its another bad example of britianca hotel 🏨 chain leaving things not fixed or cared for the place is 192 years old you expect care and attention thanks ben 💓
As someone who comes from Alicante I hate this loool Benidorm is super cheap and I used to party there when I was in high school! Cheap booze and food but honestly the vibe is so bad! Everyone is drunk and all the foreigners are rude and horrid! Really ruined that side of alicante with so many foreigners
I get the idea of the video but The Grand hotel is an enormous building built at a time when Scarborough was one of the busiest resorts in Europe. Without Britannia it’d be likely empty due to the costs involved keeping it running so hotels like this in Scarborough are stuck. We just lost the Futurist and have lost other hotels like The Pavilion over the years. The Crown Hotel did a great job but there’s only so much demand for hotels of this size in a resort like Scarborough. Until we know the answer Britannia offer affordable holidays to keep it going. Perhaps in the future if flights are limited to once every 3 years to reduce global warming then hotels like the Royal and the Grand will be brought back to life.
I live in Scarborough. My son had his wedding there and it was lovely, apart from a waitress spilling a lot of hot coffee down the bride's back, scalding her. Ive stayed there myself at a different time and it was good, awesome breakfast.
Because the Dutch have four major cities around the “Green Heart” (Amsterdam/Rotterdam/Utrecht/The Hague) plus others like Haarlem Delft and Leiden nearby, they have a more decentralized urban setup than places that place all their eggs in one basket.
I know they fired all the UK staff on their UK registered ships, but one of the Hull-Rotterdam ferries is registered in The Netherlands; did they also fire the Dutch (and Indonesian) staff?
Never worry about being under dressed for something like a First Class Lounge. The days of having to wear a collar and tie for such things are long gone. A friend of mine who's very much a multi millionaire tends to always wear, T-Shirt, Hoody, Jeans & trainers with a baseball cap. He does sometimes get some sideways looks, but he dresses the way he wants and doesn't give a fig for what anyone else thinks...
LOL!!......Cabin Small Window, it’s a f.cking Porthole. Generation Z😂😂😂 Clueless!! Did you lose your Cherry in Amsterdam son?? Hull, what a shithole!.......It’s like my Underpants, full of hard seamen
As others have stated you went on a ferry with P&O Ferries. No connection with P&O cruises which is an entirely different company. You need to be very careful using "cruise" in this context and state the non connection. Carnival (the American parent company of P&O cruises UK) might have something to say about it.
Scarborian here, there are (unfortunately) many worse hotels than the royal! Such beautiful victorian buildings, that are left to ruin, once big chain hotels take over them, such a shame 😢
Thank you so much for your amazing cooperation 🙌If anyone here loves great travel deals, especially on trains, please follow us for more discounts and campaigns.🥰🚄
Looking at Hull from Canada through your video, it looks pretty appealing. I’d emigrate immediately site unseen if I was given the go ahead from your immigration department
I'm really keen to give this a try - I've seen a lot of marketing of this product as a 'Mini Cruise', and couldn't believe the prices that they were charging. Thanks for taking us with you, and it's worth stressing that P&O Ferries and P&O Cruises are two very different companies, with two very different products!
There is absolutely no way that hotel deserves the accolade it’s been given , ok it’s a bit rough around the edges , but in my opinion it’s fifty percent better than most hotels I’ve seem on you tube .
