The official RU-vid channel for the indie, folk rock band Fruit Bats.
Since the late nineties, Fruit Bats has revolved around singer/songwriter Eric D. Johnson. After five Fruit Bats albums Johnson shed the Fruit Bats name as a cleanse of sorts. Grief-stricken after the loss of his wife's pregnancy he felt the need to to start afresh. In the process of grieving, reflecting, and resigning himself to his new realities, Johnson realized how much weight a name can carry and how much of his sense of self was contained in just two small words - Fruit Bats.
In 2016 Fruit Bats return and the rebirth parallels Johnson's resiliency, and Absolute Loser is his treaty on how to redefine oneself after tragedy. Although he maintains that he doesn't have it all figured out quite yet, Johnson acknowledges that with that self-awareness comes some sort of acceptance.
I am seeing you at the caverns in tennessee this summer and I was requesting for you to play “it all comes back” from your new album 🙏🏻 it would be so cool to hear it live :) thank you!!!
Eric Johnson aint ever gonna stop! Consistently amazing music since Echlocation. I saw Eric open up for Band of Horses (before they even released their first album) and Iron and Wine a loooooong time ago. So so good. When you love somebody, it's hard to think about anything but to breathe!
Heard on college radio when Pet Parade came out, rubber soul vibes and instant fan. Finally saw last night, and second half of the set they layered disco over country, sweet spot 70s and total Dead vibes. Great live act!
I didn't think it was possible to find the perfect song for longboarding..... This, 👇 this👇 is the song.... I mean this song . This song is perfect for longboarding its a whole vibe
I thought someone found an old secret BeeGees song somewhere, or maybe a new song from Cage the Elephant…but no, Fruit Bats! LoL. U know how many documentaries on fruit bats I had to sift through before I finally found this video, and still didn’t know if it was the song I heard on the radio cause the video seemed like one of the damn documentaries I’d been sifting through! LoL. Well worth the search, though.
lol that is hilarious!😂 re-listening for the many-ist time I love this song. But first time ever watching the video! In the year 2024! Very fantastic hope yall are doing well! Hope yall survived the planned-demic!
Sensational, I can’t big up this man any more than I do so these comments are for the drummer. Man, you are in the groove! Your facial expressions and body language sum up exactly what you are hearing and contributing to. Bravo dude, and bravo Eric and the rest of you!
Where does one obtain this single curtain? I did not see it listed on your merch website. is Bed, Bath and Beyond stocking it? Please advise, would love to listen and feel.
I JUST FOUND THIS CHANNEL....SO REFRESHING.....HIS LYRICS REMINDS ME OF MY DEAR FRIEND JOHN DENVER WHO WAS KILLED IN A PLANE CRASH......I'M REALLY GOING TO ENJOY ERIC'S MUSIC FOR SURE.....IT'S SO DELIGHTFUL ❤
you know its been yrs now. many. and for the first time, i ask (which may have been asked in the comments but im way too smart to read them), who goes hiking in a turtleneck and white pants? Fruit Bats does, motherfucker!
I just cannot stop listening to anything by eric or fruit bats.. saw them in Boston and kids semi ruined it but after this show I fell in love with erics voice... my boyfriend is a long time fan and got me into this band. He is sn amazing songwriter..
The Fruit Bats' songs are so honest and beautiful. I found them on some random playlist website many years ago and fell in love. Seriously underrated band.
This song reminds me of a girl I met in art class during highschool. We both seemed really into each other and constantly goofed around and helped eachother with each others projects. One day she asked me if I wanted to have lunch with her and I accepted. However when I got to where she wanted to eat I froze up. I watched her thru the front window waiting patiently for me and started to panic and ended up quietly slipping away. It wasn't the same after that and we slowly went back to being 2 classmates that barely knew eachother. I still think about that all the time. I'm sorry I stood you up Joy.
I discovered your music about 3 months ago. Your song writing and chord progressions resonate. Lyrically and musically I have been inspired more than I can describe in words in a comment box. Thank you for the inspiration. You are underrated and do not have the recognition you deserve. Oh the vocals and chords changes in Deep Well….
