Emmy-nominated A Seat at the Table is the first talk show led by an all African-American female cast. This show gives voice to issues from diverse experiences, perspectives and challenges. A Seat at the Table breaks through the silence and gives African-American women a voice; a loud and clear voice.
For generations, black women have gathered around kitchen tables sharing insights, feelings and wisdom -- always wisdom. These thoughtful and informed voices are so rarely heard or fully articulated.
Until now…
A Seat at the Table is a weekly series hosted by intelligent, outspoken, unapologetic African-American women. They say what’s on their minds. Their unique perspectives are brought to life through candid conversations about national news, family, kids, careers, medicine, sexuality, finance, beauty, fashion and relationships… Or darn well whatever is on their minds.
The mission of A Seat at the Table is to let African-American women have a platform to educate communities about the
There is a lot in this one, but one of the most important tid bits discussed is grown male role models. Humans learn faster by what they see. Even to the point of ignoring what is said to them. Men have to be present and accounted for in these kids lives. They also have to do it the right way. Just being there isn't enough. Sometimes it it can cause more harm than good if the men present aren't good role models. I learned how to let my son go also when he needed teaching more from the positive role models in his life. Like boys n girls club counselors, teachers, and even music instructors. He also has an uncle and his father, not all of the time, but he stays in contact with them. Also, men learn how to treat women by how the men in their lives treat women, of course, so ladies be very decerning who you allow in your life and around your kids.
I'm sorry but B4 I could continue watching I had to pause and address the fact that she gave props to the lady but then acted like she didn't remember her name. That says a lot about her as his step mother. I'm not trying to down her but what she said was wrong. If she didn't actually remember her name a simple statement such as, (I respect and agree with his mother for the wisdom she showed in doing that would have suffice.
I was looking for this comment…gave praises but you don’t remember your own step-son’s mom’s name ?? & your married to the man she patented a child w? Sound insane or sounds like an odd nice-nasty remark
I have an adopted sun me and my wife will do the best we can in a two woman house hold. The kids has structure, discipline and love. And I will continue to test him until he is feels secure with himself to succeed in the world. There’s demons he will have to slay on his own but I’m sure I can provide him with some tools etc
Until standards are reestablished it dont matter. 4 ,5 generations of Women trying to raise men have taken an irreparable toll on the community. At 62 yrs old im part of the last generation of black males raised in normality, with a Mother and Father in a loving home as intended. A population that till 1969 was the most married. All other groups over us still Innerstand Understand and Overstand what Farrakhan said is fact. Strong men and Women, stong family, strong nation. We are they only group that the women are the Men.
There is a serious lack of Black male educators in elementary school. If statistics say that the school-to-prison pipeline starts with third grade, then why aren't high schools promoting teaching careers to high school seniors? I once saw a Black male elected teacher of the year in Georgia as a pre-school teacher and I thought that was so powerful because here a male could influence children from the start. My experience is that young Black males are more active in Pre-K & Kindergarten; they are more alert, more knowledgeable, some can already read and recognize a large amount of words. They are ill-behaved because they need more stimulation, they are bored because they are more advanced than others their age. It gets them in trouble and suspended in kindergarten! White women are the majority of teachers across the nation as a whole. Black women second. If we are not equipped to raise Black males as mothers, then we certainly are not as elementary school teachers. We are failing Black youth again and again and again.
These females are NOTHING like our mothers. All they wanna do is twerk fight have kids by men that they don't know and then everybody else is supposed to kiss they ass because they "queens". NOPE AND NOW BLACK MEN sick of it
Why can't we be latin! We don't know what the black culture struggle are.So we are just latinos, it doesn't matter what color you are! This is an American thing!
Colorism = Dressed Up, Glorified Racism. A nice way for a Latino racist to say he or she is not a run of the mill, garden variety, racist. That simple.
New to this channel - first time viewing. Good topic, so relevant, so now. Christine White sounds like she has a Jamaican background but I could be wrong.
Y’all are so delusional when did this happen. And my god - idk as a black man I rarely think about race - and the obesity and the delusion is unreal. Well at least black women are educated and at a certain age are the best of women in my opinion but too fat - so many so fat it’s not attractive or healthy and the hood , ghetto thing is a trash culture traaaaaash I’d rather marry a fat woman that be with a model ratchet woman even 20% ratchet it’s so disgusting
Colorism and nationalism is a result of colonization. It’s all used to hide indigenous ancestry. Race is a misnomer because race especially in the U.S is strictly tied to colors it has absolutely nothing to do with genetics. It’s all political and the ability to have access to resources.
72% Percent of Children be raised by a single mother in the black community is INSANE! We as black men have to step up & take accountability & break the cycle 🔁
Anit gonna happen without a high level of Dick-ipline Discipline You're just doing what these females are doing here on this vid No disrespect to you but you gotta stop wishing on a star And stop eating a Box of lucky Charms AT around the age of 10 - 12 years old gotta really start getting on them and showing the world around them At how it works It's Also show them science and engineering and arts and culture and how everything is built up Boys/Men ARE REALLY that simple IF you CATCH them early ( like IN the movie Boys in the Hood - was saying ) around 7 to 12 years old most young men have some ideal of what they would like to be and do in life BUT in the BC ( Black Community ) asking questions like what you what to be or do IN life is look down on ( Especially ESPECIALLY in the Southeast ) PS I love ALL the BC ( Black Community ) BUT I am sooo glad I am sooo rejected and despised.. Better go get yourself a big Box of lucky charms and sit back and just watch the destruction because that's what these people love.. As Quiet as Kept
Its not even about wedlock Because you can eventually get married we should start shunning mfkers who are absent fathers & shun women for using children as a weapon against the man
@@ownerofastolengun but then what if the couple divorce? What if the couple can’t conceive children and have to go outside of them for reproduction. This is why alot of old ways womt really work. Then men are waking up and realizing marriage isn’t for them. Due to the financial burden of it. Just like I’m history we have to Evolve,Natural selection. Women by themselves are raising great men and women and single men are as well.
@@ownerofastolengun then if majority of the black families are raised by single moms and we have a huge success rate amongst our athletes etc then it looks like we’re all doing a pretty decent job
Black boys need their fathers black boys need other male role models black men or black women that believes it is OK to raise these black boys in single parent homes is what's causing all the problems that exist in our communities.
I don't think Any black woman thinks it's OK BUT so many black women have NO CHOICE but to raise their children alone when the man chooses not to be a father. You can't force an man to be a father
@@carolinadavis2178 but it's a woman's choice to have unprotected sex with a man she is not married to that man has given that woman absolutely no commitment whatsoever and it's not like we don't see this on a daily basis it's not like the young women don't know the pattern they know it from their mothers their fathers and whole neighborhood nobody's married nobody's committed so that means the percentages of her and enough raise that child on her own it's 90%
@@carolinadavis2178 this is what every black woman should be preaching to their black daughters I know nobody likes wearing a condom but they should really know what's going to happen we're raising mad black boys who grew up to be mad black men mad about not having their fathers
This video is one of the goofiest bullshit discussion on colorism ever. They don’t talk about the genocidal policies enacted by South American leader to reduce and erased their Black population. They invited Europeans to settle in countries by giving free land and homes while sending their Blacks off to die in wars , or just let them starve to death homeless. Having Black skin in Latin America was like being marked for death.
This was a amazing show. I just saw it this evening. Lots of gems to look over and thru. I was having a very heavy discussion with my friend about us (Americanized African people) in the workplace and in high positions not hiring other black folks for higher positions and when they did it usually was filled with under the table drama and unfair expectations, how Hispanic people would hire their own in larger amounts even if they weren't qualified for those positions, how black women were and are qualified and hired but many not due to the amazing talent but as a slap in the face to black men, how black men take on traits of white men when in high positions at the workplace, We've got some work to do because it seems everyone is taking care of their own except for us.
Interesting that grown adults are sitting there trying to justify what is considered " annoying" and " rambunctious " behavior as normal. That is not normal if 98% of the entire globe doesn't do it.
