Learning to play the trumpet can be frustrating and confusing -- but it doesn't have to be. Blackwell's Trumpet Basics is here to get you on track in the practice room so you can have more fun making music.
OH MY GOD THANK YOU SO MUCH!! YOU ARE SUCH A LIFE SAVER! I am in marching band as a mello, and I am SO GLAD this works for mello too!! I was SUPER scared that my band director would yell at me 😅
Yeah endurance is the hardest part. I was blasting a solid double A by the end of the first week but had no endurance. Just goes to show everyone who thinks you need strength to have range is wrong.
Thank you so much I just got mine and I was cleaning then I put it all back together then I tried to play it and it didn't work and I thought I was about to get in trouble
Thank you! I recently purchased a new Yamaha and I cleaned it after it was delivered, and I had noticed no air was going through, after watching this video the problem has been solved. Thank you once again!
Wow you really are awesome Just picked up a brand new trumpet valves we’re sticking. I did exactly what you show me. I did not know about the clicking and it did click into place. Trumpet is working fantastic. Thank you so much.
Former trumpet player here (Brandenburgs and such) and now bass trombonist. This pedal exercise is similar to my present warmup on bass trombone. And despite gradually increasing from a 1.5G to a Markey 87 (about a Shilke 59 or Yamaha Yeo) my high b-flat is still usable and there, Haydn's Creation is still performable on the Markey and the low through double paddle pedal range is huge. what's also interesting: i had big problems on the trumpet messing with different mouthpieces. On the bass trombone, no such problems.
Chunghung825 Very common on used trumpets for pistons not lining up or in wrong spot. Not always a number on the pistons. Remove pistons and bottom caps. Clean the valve case with a brush and isopropyl alcohol. Oil all pistons. If the pistons are numbered place 1st pistons in. Then blow, if correct spot it will work.if not try another pistons. Repeat on other pistons.
OMG. I am a tenor sax player that just started learning trumpet. I was getting really discouraged having watched other videos on embouchure and not seeing progress. Looking forward to trying your technique!
Have to do a solo and I choked three times while in band got red as a tomato for the first time in my life so it’s a new feeling and I didn’t know how to deal with it fr this put my mind back into order
