Hey! We are Charlotte and Carlos, a couple who moved from South London to an abandoned farm in the Portuguese mountains. Follow us as we document adapting to our new lives here in rural Portugal. From farm renovation, to local food. Sightseeing, to growing our own food. There is going to be a lot of ups and downs and we hope you join us along for the ride!
Hello there, I just finished watching your video, and I must say, your content is really amazing! However, I noticed that there is room for improvement when it comes to RU-vid video optimization. By making a few changes, you can increase your video views, channel traffic and subscribers. I took the liberty of making a report on your channel and identified areas that needed improvement If you are interested, I will be happy to share it with you! Please let me know
I was going to ask about that. I know their family has a farm there that were thinking about buying and renovating but I think they chose this one because it was more affordable. I am curious about what happened to the other family farm though.
I adopted a little dog on the terrace of a restaurant where we eat frequently. The owner of the dog didn't want her anymore. He was only interested in her son. I took her with me. She had a bad ear infection. What I didn't knew was, that she was pregnant again. A few months later we had 7 puppies. I ask my veterinary for help and a nearby shelter which has a partner shelter in Germany. I made a file with fotos and a short get to know about the puppies. 4 puppies went to Germany, 2 were adopted here in Portugal and 1 girl stays with me and her mum. It was a difficult and costly time but it was all worth it. Beautiful little fur bays. I cried alot when I had to let them go to their for ever homes. I will never forget them. ❤❤❤
25:03 you could put a course of brick on the sides to shore up the wood lintel. Or just remove the wood lintel and the course of brick above it and add a chunkier wood lintel. It would look cute with some hanging plants and maybe once it’s rendered and painted you can hang the old blue wood shutters on either side of the opening. 40:08 that area behind Carlos is cleaning, I was thinking you could add block instead of the fence to the front part of that wall. Basically enclose the patio to about the tallest height that Ella can’t escape from. You can lay a bigger piece of wood board or glue some of the ones you have to lay on top like a ledge. Then you could set potted plants on it. If you render all the block you’ll elevate the space a lot. And since you have a sculpturing degree, 😉 that should be up your alley and be pretty fun project I think. It could become a really pretty spot to sit and drink your coffee. This does mean you’ll only have the door opening to the carport. But then you’ll only need one doggy gate. 😊
@@lfuentes4098 such a great suggestion! Thank you so much. I was thinking the same thing about that wooden lintel but wasn’t 100% sure it would work. Think I might go for it now 😁
Please try to separate the mother dog from the pups feed the mother dog on puppy food to build her up with vitamins that's in puppy food hope you don't mind me saying good luck
@@jeanettenicholas2863 dw the moment we found out she was pregnant we put her on the puppy food. There are also certain rooms that only she can get to when she needs her space. Though recently she has take up running up and down the house playing with them 😂
Your going to have a random tomato plant over in the field where Carlos chucked it. 😂 Volunteer tomatoes. If you’re near Mr & Mrs Adventure or near Maya Feliz. They have a good digger fellow.
That is great! A lot of potatoes for next weeks’ meals 😊 Oh, love, love, the traditional Portuguese dances (folclore), beautiful. Poor Ella, she has a very tired and sad look… but those are some cutie puppies ❤
A terrific potato harvest - all those chips, mashed potato, jacket potatoes, roast potatoes, oh the possibilities go on and on! Oh my goodness me, you have your hands full with all those little babies, hopefully they’ll all, but one, go to lovely families. Thanks for taking us along on your night out, it was interesting. Really like you guys but you should have got the cat neutered before she had kittens and you've had absolutely ages to have Ella neutered . You know the issues there in Portugal and you've spoken about them yourselves. I hope you've neutered all your male and female cats and will be neutering any puppies you keep as well as Ella.
I’m so glad I found your channel, it’s therapeutic to watch you and your pets enjoying summer. It’s cold and rainy at the moment where I live in the southern hemisphere and I’m fantasising about being outside in the sun 🫠.
What a beautiful sunrise! Thanks for sharing that. If you don’t mind me asking what do you do both do for work besides RU-vid and what did you do for work before coming to Portugal? Try to water early morning before your walks or late evening so that the water has less chance of evaporating in the heat. 😉
That was me with the pollination comment.💟 Great job! (no worries if it doesn't survive, we've all been there) The earlier you can pollinate in the morning, the better. You could also remove the male flower and take off the petals, then use the stamen directly into the female flower. This year, for everyone, the weather is not cooperating. Here in New England, US, we've had so much rain I held off planting my tomatoes for a bit. 💖💖💖
@@robine916 as I said it’s all a learning experience 😅 tbf the one I killed was shading the other plant out so hopefully the other will do better now 🤞our plants went in a lot later than useual this year. I think some were a whole month later. Hopefully that should be the end of the rain here now and we get loads more good veg for the rest of the year 😊
Those plums look delicious. If your making jam you can cut away the eaten bits and use the parts that are ok! The figs you picked will be edible but you should wait until they turn darker like one of the ones you picked, was turning black.. that, is when they are delicious!!
@@leafside we find if we leave gigs to that point that the wasps beat is to it 😅 we will definitely get more in next couple of days so hopefully there will be a couple of darker ones
The river beach water looked cold. All that fruit must have made some good jam. Have you tasted it yet? Noodles was cute looking out the window looking at the storm.
Congrats on hitting 2k subscribers! You guys are awesome. I love your land, and the fig jam looks delicious. Enjoyed the video as always. Small success on the property. 🎉❤😊
