The Army needs to buy that #69 and hand it over to the Tank Design branch. I have never seen anything (other than another Imp) go end-to-end with a Box Car and WIN.
I was there when this happened. The Budweiser Boss had everyone on their feet when he went around the track with the pulling sled. That truck is insanely powerful. No other truck like it. Remember this like it was yesterday. I was probably about 10 years old. Awesome times. Too bad they don't have these at the Houston astrodome anymore 😢
How much of atpa TV do you have recorded, would be neat to have the entire thing complete one day, from Wabash 1996 to Georgetown 2005, especially some of the 2003 episodes would be nice
Always fun having Tom do the announcing, no one does it quite like he does, really do miss having his voice on TV, especially now that he's left the Battle of the Bluegrass
Turns out tom is not a particularly great person, he plays with money and people's trust, he doesnt pay out checks, at all, ran away with the end of the year prize money in 2005, leading to the ATPA shutting down and its assets being bought up by Lucas Oil, forning Pro Pulling League Tom is still at it with his funky money business with the VTPA and KTPA, Battle of the Bluegrass seems to be safe, lots of consistent pullers
Back when you didn’t have to own an auto shop to be in a derby hell today you gotta be a certified welder and machine fabricator expert just to build a derby car back they you just chained shit shut put ratchets in the rad and rod the hood shut and you’re good to go lol
This is so badass! Monster trucks used to be so cool. At the risk of sounding like a "boomer" (I'm actually 29) everything about this era kicks todays era in the junk. The trucks look way better back then, no trucks that look like Iron Man or a Stegosaurus here. Do they even race anymore? Monster trucks used to be on the cusp of being a legit motorsport...now it's so damn goofy, it's legitimacy is probably beyond saving.
REAL AMERICA!!!! I was 9 and we used our brains back then We just did it! This is America didn’t take shit ofc of any other Country, now look at us. We cited the Pledge of Allegiance in the classrooms. This era up through like 2005, heck people could read roadmaps one time then remember where they were heading. WE COULD COUNT CHANGE BACK TO CUSTOMERS USING ONLY BASIC MATH YES WITHOUT A CALCULATOR! Ahhhhh I miss these times
Amazing video. My first Bowling Green Nationals were in 1976, so I probably saw some of these tractors. Run whatcha brung, and hope ya brung enough. No firesuits, no helmets, plenty of diesel smoke and dust. The tractors have gotten more powerful and better-built, but the competition isn't any better.
Cowboy hat, a DeKalb or Pioneer seed corn cap, Western shirt, jeans, and a pair of Cowboy boots, pulling attire. Our Moto each pulling event was…. “If she goes, she goes! If she blows, she blows!”
