This is brilliant - Thank you guys - And the aspect of where you explained how the camera reads the firmware updates and what variable to change etc in the file without changing the filename - I may try this.
I respectfully disagree with you. The reason why the AF is so bad is because people had not spoken about it before with enough volume. No matter how pretty they look, professionals will just skip the cameras. We invest in lenses for a single system, and even if you sell gear you are at a loss of money. Having a complementary system makes things much, MUCH more expensive.
@@lionheart4424 I really don’t think Fuji is going to do anything just because a bunch of grown ups are crying on RU-vid complaining about Fuji’s crappy autofocus just saying.
@@yingthao6855 well, they kinda prove you wrong in their previous statement about the upcoming video AF firmware coming in November. They stated that they got feedback and watched videos about the issues (or something along those lines).
I disagree, I pay full $$$$ on these items so I expect them to work. I'm also at the age when I have other priorities other than cameras so I can't afford to buy other gear and lenses that will just be used occasionally.
This was recommended to me by the algorithm, good chat! Thanks for keeping up the discussion about Fuji AF, it's sad that it's near the end of 2024 and they still have bug issues.
Nice Vid and thahk you for sharing. I'm a Fuji Wedding Photographer in the last 9 years in Portugal and I have to say that Sony, without any doubt, is far superior in terms of AF because at the right time they hired the best (software development) programmers the industry could have, to focus on what is essential, leaving aside hardware development. As a result, the other players in this sector had to make do with less good programmers, leaving aside software development, which includes significant improvements in AF, but betting on hardware (launching cameras, lenses etc). The way I see it is that in this industry it all comes down to excellent HR and having the financial capacity to feed that, i.e. Fujifilm needs to have a lot of financial availability to hire the best in software development so that the AF system is reliable (regardless of the lens aperture) and that could take a few years. I will continue to work with Fuji but if they don't fix the bugs (AF fix) in the near future, I will stop ‘feeding’ Fujifilm because I simply don't trust the system and many have already stopped trusting it after this last bad firmware update. In this day and age, it's ridiculous to be praying at work that the AF will work properly and that it won't focus on a nose, ears, hair, etc. It doesn't make sense these days, because technologically humanity is very advanced. Thank you for reading!
I finally caved and switched to Sony. And only for the AF/tracking/recognition for street shooting. Will slowly sell almost all my fuji lenses and several bodies. What I will keep is my GFX for landscape because that's untouchable, IMO.
I've shot with Canon, Sony, Red and Blackmagic but after using GFX100ii I am convened this is the only camera closest to Arri Alexa Mini LF quality. No FX3, 30, FX6 or Canon C brand can compare the detail, quality, depth and DR to GFX, the autofocus improves vastly if you use an adapter with Sigma or Canon lenses. If you want that Hollywood quality look on budget then GFX is Godzilla.
The only time the ridiculous frames per second is relevant is wildlife and sports, I tried the a1 and it felt incredible shooting kingfishers, the autofocus is so fast and accurate I felt like I needed to swap 😂
I just got my xt50 yesterday and AF is working quite well so far. Filmed my nephews all day today and took pics and didn't see 1 thing hunt or out of focus. So far im quite happy with it
Thanks for the podcast style video - been watching your stuff for a few years now since I picked up an xt3 in 2020. Since then i have an xh2 now and it’s really great to hear how you shoot as a paid professional Harris. I’ve been having autofocus issues over the last year as a hobbiest and really toying with the idea of a switch to Nikon or Sony but the $$$ in glass I’ve invested makes it a daunting dream lol. Its interesting to hear how you use two systems for different things and I might dip my toe into another system with just 1 body 1 lens and see if I enjoy what autofocus feels like with other systems
Fuji, please turn the page on this AF issue. I’m a Fuji user for years because of the color science and presets! The AF issues have pushed me to replace all but my X Pro2 with other systems. The throwback look vibes of the x pro 2 will keep it in tow. The knockout punch for me will be the X Pro 4. Please bring your A game for that release Fuji!!
Great video guys ,We all hope they fix it now. I am thinking as Sethi said, what if they dont fix it properly but they patch the downgrade procces , That would be bad and make people angry. PS. AF will never be as the other modern cameras canon sony lumix nikon (at least for those gen5 fujis). I am sure of this because of the way is always stepping, even on fw1 where it tracks very well , is still making small steps that you can see in the bokeh. I think fuji cameras are relying 80% on contrast af and 20% on phase af. Also guys, for all lenght of the interview you were never out of focus haha. Made me laugh when you guys said fuji should sent me a camera haha.Im silent cuz I do my jobs with fw1 , it works good for me.Waiting for the "new improved one" 52:00 There many af options on sony, box , spot , big spot, area.
Lovely to hear from you bratan! Damn! I wish they sent you the new AF to test🤣 let’s see what happens.. Yeah I found a way to make the Sony have the box now as well, thanks for pointing that out 👊
Great video! I use xh2 and xt5 professionally and I’ve missed a lot of critical shots and I recently added a canon mkii and wow I use it for fast moving subjects and low light at indoor wedding venues and wow it’s amazing and it’s made my work a lot easier due to the autofocus but I still use Fuji for outdoor photography in good light and I’ve never up dated the software on my Fuji cameras since launch and it still works great in good light and I can only imagine how bad the latest software is on Fuji ! If Fuji don’t sort out the issues in this next update I will just move over to canon and still keep my gfx line of cameras and lenses together with canon ! But the colour science is still the best on Fuji
I switched to Canon from the Fuji X-series lineup in 2020 when it became obvious that the X-T4 had not corrected the autofocus problems in both video and stills of the XT-3. I am sorry to learn that problems remain in the Fujifilm system, because like you both I adore the Fujifilm color profiles. This conversation was very informative and entertaining, even though I am now an outsider...
Sameeee. I dropped Fujifilm when the X-T4 was bigger heavier and no better than the X-T2. Wait until people realise that IBIS hasn't improved since the X-H1 either. 😮
Hi I've got loads of canon glass, but now buying an XT3 for my carry around camera. Wasn't really clear why you advised using the fuji glass over the canon on the XT3, when the canon results look great? Was the reason the look you were going for or do the canon lenses not function as quickly?
Very nice lens. My only gripe with it is the halo around lights at night. I used to shoot with a Lumix, and the 25mm F1.4, didn't have the halo around the lights. Having shot with the 25mm f1.4 lumix, the difference around the lights is obvious to me ugh. Apart from that, the 35mm Fuji is nice.
Thanks for sharing, I bought the X-T3 in 2019 and did not regret it. On previous digital cameras, I always switched to manual for everything - on the X-T3 I could for the first time rely on the camera taking great pictures the way I want them to be, as if it could read my mind (my mind seems to be pretty average ;)). You made a great statement for the X-T3 and I'm going to keep it until it breaks ;)
What was the focusing like with the sigma 18-35? (For video mainly) And did you update the the lens firmware Was there any focus breathing while zooming?
Hello i watched a video you have about recording comedy and i bought the lav mic you recommended. I eas wondering what settings i should use because i dont really know anything about this kind of stuff
FYI just did this on my XT5, took about an hour and was a real pain - happy it's done but not sure if I'd do it again ... works the same as in the video but you need to apply a ton of force, ended up using a small flat head screwdriver to push against the tiny edge of the thing to push through, once its a bit out i used pliers to pull it out. good luck!
Wonderful points on candid event shoots. I'm really happy that you find the 18 1.4 so amazing and im sure it is. But is it worth more than double the price of the Sigma 16mm in your view? Really glad to hear your video experience with the 56 though. Will certainly not sell mine and I'll consider getting the 35 now.
9:05 loved the M5 too, especially for it's triple dials and portability. Just a joy to handle, despite it's imperfections and sadly never got the upgrade it deserved.
Great video! I too love the 35 for character. 😊 You said you were thinking about Sony. Well I picked up a7rv and it is awesome in many regards BUT I just don’t think the image is nearly as pleasing to my eye as my xt5. Shockingly clear but not as pleasing.
I use two XT-3 bodies with the battery grips. I believe the build quality of the XT -3 is superior to the newer XT-5. I am fortunate to have numerous Fuji lenses & I have not been disappointed with the images that I am able to produce with this equipment.
