There's only one thing keeping me from buying the X-S10, the viewfinder. I'm tired of camera makers hobbling their less that top line cameras with peephole viewfinders. Anything less than .7 mag. is unacceptable, given it's importance. Manufacturers use this as upgrade leverage. A proper viewfinder is essential for framing, exposure and seeing DoF. I would rather have fewer features and get a good viewfinder. And I'd love to see Fuji start making manual focus lenses. I think they're leaving money on the table here. Get the X-T3.
Fair point my dude! You know your needs so don’t compromise. For myself, I won’t be using the viewfinder all that much on X-S10 so it fits my needs for now. Thanks for watching and get that X-T3 👊🏼
I have bad vision even with glasses these days. I do not have any issues with using the X-S10 viewfinder even if it is not the industry gold standard. In fact the rear LCD is usually too hard for me to use outdoors, so without a useful EVF I would have to quit photography all together. Not buying this camera because of the viewfinder seems more like an excuse than a reason.
You prefer the xt3 over the xt4 and the xpro2? I love Fugi but they drive me crazy. They come out with th xs10 with a great grip and ibid but remove the focus mode dial and traditional external iso, ss, and exposure compensation dials. Then the come out with the xe4 with traditional dials and a nice flip out LCD but remove the focus mode dial and provide no grip. Then the come out with an xpro3 but include a ridiculous flip down screen. What are they doing? The xt3 and xpro 2, at present, seem like the best all around cameras.
Regarding the Film Simulation Dedicated Dial, personally I much prefer having immediate access to Film simulation with the Q button and select the mode Change w/ the joy stick or rear dial. Much more ergonomic and faster than taking your hand off the camera to twist the Film Simulation dial on the top of the camera, plus this can be done while keeping your eye on the EVF.
By the way, you can assign ISO to that film sim knob. The one thing I’ve struggled to find is a way to use auto white balance and then lock whatever setting results. There’s an AWB lock available in the button customizations - but unless I’m crazy, it just doesn’t work...
@@HVRIS yes hopefully they will expand the customization in a firmware update. I’d like to see them add custom video modes even if you can’t access them via the mode dial. Incidentally I found the answer to my white balance lock problem - it’s a menu option buried deep. So that’s a win...
This was very helpful. X-S10 is my only Fuji body right now. Have 23f2, 50f2 and 561.2 and looking to grab a second body. Thinking it’s gonna be the X-T3.
Good video, but let me add some positive feedback. Your footage in London had focus drift and undecided focus, I too pair my X-T4 with the 16mm f1.4, please don't rely on the face auto focus just yet, it made the footage a little hard to watch. I've been using the focus range limiter function way more than the face auto detection because it focus hunt far less. Also on your coffee shop shot with the 56mm f1.2 I see focus drifting too, it's really distracting, and there is a couple of clear focus jumps one when you are by your computer screen and another one in your main studio a few minutes later. You might want to play with your focus and speed setting a little more, or try focus range limiter. Fuji has come a long way in its auto focus, hopefully by the X-T5 fuji may have a Sony focus killer. Give it a shot to focus range limiter, pal2tech channel has a great tutorial on it 😁👍 I'll be looking for future videos 📷
Yes I am! - I use an external mic on top of the camera and also process my audio. There is also a bit of music layered in my talking head so overall, you don't hear it much.
To me Fuji is splitting the lines some from photography focused to video focused. Not being a Fuji user the xs-10 controls seems more normal. I see this camera as a gateway into fuji for people coming from other brands. Fuji sure does appear to be gaining market share
It’s definitely a fun gateway camera! 100% and I think Fuji is definitely splitting the lines to accommodate more video centric camera which only makes me happy ✌🏼
@@HVRIS maybe you should doing some experiment cause I need to record in 4k and it will a shame if x s10 have an overheating issue which a6400 can handle it very easily
@@dwisetyoaji5007 I also have not had any overheating including 4K. The biggest downside IMO is battery life. Definitely plan on one or more extra batteries. I looked at the 6400 but a flip-up screen is a no-go for me. And I prefer the Fuji image and colors.
Hey Haris, now i got the Fuji x-t100 but i want to make the next step. I dont film Videos very often. Both cameras cost nearly the Same. Would you buy the x-t3 or the x-s10? Thanks
X-S10 only has one feature that makes it better (for some users) and that’s ibis. The lack of weather sealing is a massive miss and no 4k 60. X-T3 for around the same price is a no brainer
I sold one of my XT3 and nearly got the XS10 as my daily go-to camera but i wanted to keep it light, so i ended up with the XT30 instead. I more on the photography side, so everything's good for me. Great video dude! #fujigang
Hi there HVRIS, if the X-S10 were 120€ cheaper than the X-T3 and if your main interest was to shoot portrait and "being behind the camera", would you still get the X-T3 instead of the X-S10?
I think I would still get the X-T3 because my main focus is to be behind the camera. I know it may seem odd to justify the X-T3 but I would recommend renting both cameras and see what feels right to you
Both are good! It depends what kind of filmmaking you plan to do, I prefer the X-S10 if I want to vlog. I prefer the X-T3 if I want to be behind the camera
Im a photographer and vlogger and im interested in buying fuji but im not sire which one would be best. Im leanimg towards xt4 but its out of my budget for now so im thinking between the xt3, xt30, xh1 and xs10. Image stabilization isnt a big deal for me but i want something good for vlogging in day and night and good for photos day and night. Howver i would like the photos to be high quality worthy..
Im planning to opt a camera purely for photography purpose (95% of times, ill be shooting handheld) Shall i stick to xt-30ii or spend 100$ more for XS-10 which offers ibis (P. S. i dont have any issue with XT-30's agronomics 😅)
My xt3 has been a stinker. It absolutely hates to take infocus shots. My wife has glasses and it absolutely crumbles trying to take pics meanshile iphone locks eye everytime. Im ready to move on.
Yeah Fuji isn’t the most reliable when it comes to face detect AF. It’s not the worst but you’d have to be comfortable with some work arounds. If I find that the face detect ain’t working for me I’ll tap my fn button (where I’ve assigned face detect) to turn it off and use regular single point and that solves my problem. Also, lens choice has a big part to play unfortunately. The older lenses will simply play up a lot more than the newer versions. Fuji is definitely working on updating their line-up. It sounds like you need a system that has reliable AF, probably best to look at Sony or Canon 🤷🏻♂️ I hope my workaround gives you a temporary solution.
Depends on what you are trying to film / photograph. In the simplest way possible, if I’m behind the camera I prefer the X-T3. If I want to be in front of the camera, I like the X-S10
Hi. Great comparison. Thanks. However, I have a question. I photograph sessions, sometimes weddings and other reportages. I need to record one video during the summer for which I wanted to buy a gimbal. With IBIS, I would have let him go. Let's say I don't need two SD card slots. I have a chance to buy: Xt-2 for 440 € (and later as backup xt-2), xt-30 for 560 € or xs-10 for 660 € (and later as backup xt-20 for xt-30 or xs-10). Xt-3 is too high a shelf. I'm almost decided on the xs-10 but still hesitating. Autofocus against xt-2 and xt-30 is much better? It's all about tracking and darkness. Thanks :)
I was in the Fujifilm store last weekend for some strange reason I simply looked at the camera I didn’t bother picking it up I wanted to hold x-pro3 instead.
@@HVRIS Don't worry. Take your time. I would skip the X-E4. I was very excited about it, but if you already have an X-T3 or X-T4, what would be the point? The X100V... well.. maybe get that instead.... who can resist the leaf shuttle? I hope things are getting better in England.
@@ReflexVE yep but you can’t use lens stabilisation which is more natural looking, no wobble and my preferred method, ibis is perfect for standing still, but not when moving
