On this new channel I share tools and advice on how to cope with tinnitus. Most of the information is geared towards general tinnitus suffers. And some of it is geared towards musicians with tinnitus. I am the author of 2 books on tinnitus. I am currently a group leader at tinnitus UK, and I have been interviewed multiple times on podcasts around the world regarding my tinnitus work. I also have a website called www.helpmytinnitus.com where you can download my free PDF "5 Tips For Tinnitus". This channel is new because I had to remove all my tinnitus videos from my other channel which is my music and artist channel as I felt the contrast between releasing new music, and releasing T videos was too much. So here is a brand new channel.

Jack, how do you actually convince people they can get better with tinnitus? I feel like in the community when I try and be positive it goes like this Me: You can 100% get to a better place with tinnitus Sufferer: Not if it is severe, how bad is yours? Me: Mine is severe it just takes work and time Sufferer: If it was severe you wouldn't say that. I feel like some people are both the torturer and the tortured in their own tale. How can i better help people understand they can recover from tinnitus and tinnitus distress?
Hi Ben. Very interesting question. First off let me say it’s very noble of you wanting to help others . It shows great kindness. 💯 Here is my answer. The best way you can help people is instead of trying to convince them of something, show them an alternative way of thinking by using yourself as example . You are a person with severe tinnitus that has found ways to cope and live well. So show people that, either in conversation or videos etc. It’s a fantastic message to send out to the world. But who listens or doesn’t listen to your message, is not within your control.
@@thetinnituschannel Thank you for the reply. I agree with everything you said and at the end of the day it is up to the individual. We can only put good into the world with a hope it gets better and i personally would do well to remember that. Thanks for everything you do
Hello. I have done that in the past and it helped when using them. But I didn’t do it very often. I know some people do this so it’s something to consider. However whenever I have had sound therapy on, I always kept it below the volume of my tinnitus which I think is important so as not to further aggravate my ears .
Hi Jack, the fact that your tinnitus has increased, paradoxically is a good sign: you have hydrops of the inner ear. It can be cured. On Google search for Dr. Andrea La Torre, he is an Italian specialist (also speaks English), who after a video consultation gives you a very effective therapy. I recommend him to all those who read and who suffer from this problem. Even to those who have had uninterrupted and fixed tinnitus for years. This can also be caused by hydrops. God luck!
Good video Jack, ty for sharing. I have 3 or 4 tones in my left ear and 1 or 2 on my right. For measure tinnitus, i do some questions, like do you hear it over shower? Over heavy traffic with your car windows closed? I don't think there is a way of measure objective tinnitus loudness... And to be honest, there is no point in measure and monitor tinnitus subjective volume, like a friend of mine says, don't focus on it, the more you focus, the louder it seems. Take care and keep strong
Normal masking sounds are good. I prefer water sounds than masking noise. To be honest I always forget to check in the shower . But I can hear it when driving a car with windows closed .
That’s a tough question and one that a specialist would have to answer. I have spoken to leading audiologists and they tell me that a good pair of fitted ear plugs do their job well. So take that as you will. But this is a good question and I might have to do some research on it and maybe make a video . 👍
Thanks Jack. Does 2K = 2000Hz? My tinnitus note/sound/band is around 5400Hz but the volume varies from manageable to weapons grade 🫨. I have yet to identify all of the sounds that start the spikes, but squealing brakes, loud screams and sirens certainly don’t help. Playing guitar is probably one of the culprits as well, but I can’t stop 🙄. Also, I do wish they would do as you once suggested and give some sort of warning on the television about imminent sudden volume spikes. Thanks again for the videos, sharing your experiences and tips helps me no end 🙂
Hi. Yes 2000 is where I often get aggravated. And yes I really think it would be an idea to have a warning with sounds . It sounds like a crazy idea, but if you think about it they have warnings for flash photography on the news etc. So why not sounds?
I’m always curious on how loud someone else’s tinnitus is but I dont ask because I learned how subjective it is. I’ve always had an aversion to weird sounds so I know I’m bothered more than my husband who says it’s just a sound (he has a high pitch one but it never bothers him). So I completely understand your reluctance to talk about how loud yours is and your reasons make sense. I am grateful you share so much with the community! 😊
Always nice hearing from u sir jack, ur so kind and inspiring, hows tinnitus quest been doin, any updates, godspeed and looking forward to ur videos, thank u very much

Thank you for the birthday wishes. Glad my videos have been of use to you. And very interesting to hear how you have managed your T . Sending best wishes
Ah, beautiful and powerful message, Jack. Much appreciation for your self awareness and choosing to take the time to put this out into the world. Happy birthday to you! Wishing you good health and many more.
If every individual who has moderate tinnitus (that’s me…or for others far worse) donated 25 dollars a month the amount money that would be raised be tens of millions dollars in a short amount of time.
Happy birthday 🎉 it’s my 50th on Monday so that’s 27 years with tinnitus! Yes it has taken a lot from myself but like you I keep fighting and living and also hoping, going for a nice quiet meal out with the family
Happy Birthday.. It certainly looks like the perfect weather for it. I'll be 53 next month and although I struggle at least a few times every week with my tinnitus, this video is a good reminder that life goes on and for myself and my family, I will also keep going on :)
Cheers Jack !! Hope you're still gonna fight for all of us tinnitus sufferers, cause that time surely won't be wasted. I also noticed (I believe I mentionned it in a support group) that some connexions could be made between tinnitus and OCD, which is really the pathology of worrying. "Don't let it dictate your life, don't let it take control, because that's what it wants" : those are the kind of things you can hear in the OCD community. As for the psychological side of tinnitus, that seems pretty accurate. Worrying feeds on itself and can consume someone entirely, even without any physical cause. Part of the answer to that might be, indeed, to remember that time is ultimately the most "decisive" factor, and that we, under any circumstances, need to make the most of it. By using our time for ourselves of course, with such "soul lifting" activities as music, but giving time back to others is also a powerful way of doing it.
Yes this is a very good Florian. Thank you for making it . Also we might have something very interesting for the next support group so keep a lookout for that . Thank you again
@@thetinnituschannel ☺️☺️☺️🥰you're right. time is precious ..don't let that tinnitus take our time. nice words by youu that's why ur my personal motivator sir🌹🌹
Jack, first of all, I want to thank you very much. The videos you’ve made about tinnitus have provided me with some relief during difficult times and have helped me to navigate my life. When Tinnitus Quest was first established, I was really excited and felt a sense of trust when I saw your name on the board. I’ve seen what so-called “research” have looked like up until now. For this reason, I know that if a cure is going to be found, it will come from Quest. Thank you again for being a part of this platform. I’m doing my best to promote Quest in local forums and groups. This is what I can contribute. Although I am still going through hell since it started 3 months ago, I want to be hopeful for the future.
hello. Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment. Really glad my videos have been of some use to you. And thank you also for sharing the message about Tinnitus Quest. Everything helps. The more we come together as a Community the better for all us. Sending best wishes. Jack
Gud job there sir jack, also gud news, keep up da gud work, pls give us updates on those progress on cures, by the way on the donation, I'm in Asia don't know how to keep in touch
You’re the best kind of activist, Jack. A guy with a voice and a common thread amongst others who have none. You’re an artist, and while such activism probably wasn’t exactly a childhood dream of yours, you demonstrate great interest and care in just being able to do more. Always grateful for your efforts and compassion, and tremendous grace and humility with which you take on this role. Count me in.
Thanks for explaining the lack of funding for Tinnitus. I was wondering why this illness hasn't been resolved. With so many people suffering - I thought medical researchers and pharmaceutical companies would try to find a cure, in order to make money.
Jack, is anyone in connection with Susan Shore's research on the Tinnitus Quest board? Seems like an odd omission given her treatment seems the most viable.
Sign me up! There has to be a switch in my head that will turn off my tinnitus torture 🫨. Hopefully Tinnitus Quest can bring the scientists and the sufferers together and find an answer. Tinnitus, unheard by those without it, but an ever present soundtrack to those with it.
This is simply great. I heard of some big music superstars affected by tinnitus. They could be a huge part of research, with donations ways bigger than the average people can provide.
I have similar except I get pitch both ears sometimes left sometimes right, both and I have been able to handle that, but I allso get wear simes to come from in the back head in both ears neck this sound like large sprinklers full on spiket open, this is my spike for 24 hr at time every 3 days like a clock very difficult tried every kind of fasting from foods nothing changes it! Hard times but I know its comings as sure as sun sets so I expect it to be there and I get through it.
I have had tinnitus for 40 years. An extremely loud concert damaged my ears. It has gotten worse over the years. At times I did not notice it, but it has changed recently, and I am having a harder time dealing with it. I hope to get back to stage 3 at some point.
Thank you for posting this video. I have been dealing with a bad spike for the past week or so. It's been quite distressing and I haven't been able to relax since it started. It is loud enough I can hear it over things which typically with my tinnitus it is only really loud in quiet situations or when I lay my ear on my pillow. I am not sure what caused it I am pretty good at wearing my hearing protection when I need to but there are times when I get hit with loud sudden noises at work which I can't always prepare for.
