I used to be a huge pheasant hunter from the time I was 12-23. When I was 20 I was walking in a valley and fired. Instantly knew that something was very off. Life goes on and you learn to adapt.

Nice tips. It's a nightmare. Reactive Tinnitus? I get similar when walking into a supermarket and the alarm randomly starts to go off as walking in. Why? God knows it's like a sick game.
Hi Jack, I’m going through a real bad spike and came across your video, it’s been the most helpful and comforting, I hope my spike calms down and my T returns to its normal baseline
Like you I have had Tinnitus for over 20 years , had a major spike in October 2020 and had a couple over recent years , your advice as usual absolutely wonderful, did the same as you , found staying at home indoors all day did not help at all so I put on my walking shoes and off I went , the best thing I could have done walking is such a tonic .hope your spike goes very soon . Thanks so much.
Thanks for the reassurance Jack, I’ve just come out of a nasty spike myself. Also I’ve taken your advice from another video and gone unplugged. I stumbled across a second hand Hofner Shorty in the music shop, endless almost silent armchair noodling 🙂.
You're going to laugh at this. I hope. when I get up and eat my breakfast I put your videos on my laptop in front of me and I listen to at least two of them. That sets me up for my day t o have no fear and giving it no importance. Gets me right on track to start my day. Positively life changing. Can't believe the difference Living Without fear makes.
crisis at 73 a viral infection congestion displaced my eardrum a construction site in my head weeks on and finally an ENT in manhattan gave me enough drugs to resolve infection which I DID NOT EVEN HAVE A FEVER FROM telling me my hearing was damaged suggesting hearing aides. He said if necessary he could surgically place drum back. It restored to correct position but i then developed what I assume is body wide pulsatile tinnitus still unresolved than vertigo of severity landing me in hospital for 3 days for 11 weeks in the other ear. No other medical problems and my hearing came back to normal thankfully To his vast surprise hearing back to normal but no answer for the pulsatile tinnitus. Any advice greatly appreciated thanks
I don't think I have pulsatile tinnitus (like a pulsing drone?). I do have a very high pitched, bilateral metallic whine, all the time. The tinnitus was milder ten years ago, moderate now with spikes. Worried about brain inflammation in early stages. I wonder if near infrared might help or gamma light therapy? I do have mild carotid plaque on one side. Difficult to ascertain a cause let alone what might help. Tried hz frequency generators to mask the noise but not very effective. It is not a fix. I have very good hearing for a 70+ y.o. and very good bone conduction. As a kid I had incredible bionic hearing all the way into highs and lows. Could the the cause be micro ischemia in temporal lobes or cerebellum? Recently had a brain MRI and found possible, supratentorial chronic ischemia. Maybe that is the problem? Also have had yeast in ears and more than usual inner ear infections as a kid. TY for any replys. Downloading your PDF!
Thanks for sharing your experience. My tinnitus started just 2 years ago and there has been 3 flare ups while at other times they disappeared or I vaguely hear them. However this time i am finding challenging as its been now almost 3 weeks with no success on recovery. I will try your trips. Any suggestions will be very helpful. Thanks
Don't feel alone. I'm in a so called Spike for 14 days now. I feel it might not be a spike anymore. We can only HOPE they can last 2 weeks to a month the most then subside. I don't want this to be my new normal. I've already had two increases since 1994
Just discovered your channel. It's never occurred to me that noises ever trigger my tinnitus spikes. I have them, but they have never been associated with outside stimuli. The only time I have spikes are when I have significantly reduced sleep the night before, or I'm stressing about something. Whether it's quiet everywhere or noisy everywhere or there's a loud sudden noise or loud music, those things never affect my tinnitus. Is this strange? Thank you
No...... wait though my ears got much louder 13 days ago!!!! I don't think this is a "Spike" anymore. So I'm NOT ok. But your video is great for people going through normal spikes.
Hi there. Really sorry you have had an increase in volume. What I would say is 2 weeks is still very early into it. My personal experiences with spikes are that they always calm down over time . Can be a week, sometimes it can be 2 to 2 months. But I always recover and my brain adapts. I hope yours calms down over time. In the meantime try to stay calm. Try to distract your mind away from it by doing things that you enjoy and that give you a good And strong positive mindset such as exercise, socializing, what programs you like etc. Hope this helps and sending best wishes 👍
Jack it's a wonderful video everything you say I'm so grateful but I wanted to ask you if you have ever experienced this episodes of tinnitus being sleep-related causing sleep to fluctuate it. Example you're fairly mild all day you watch TV you doze off and you awake with a start with raging tinnitus this can also happen in the middle of the night. You go to bed with fairly mild sounds can you wake up either in the morning or in the middle of the night with horrendous noise in your head I've never heard anyone mention this. I wondered if you had experienced it. There was a sleep study done in the UK related sleep to tinnitus. I just wanted to introduce this because I've watched hundreds of videos on tinnitus has anyone mentioned this. Thanks again for your honest video it's so helpful I watch it again and again when I get discouraged😊
Just curious. Did you ever try to find out the characteristics of your tinnitus. So your pitch and loudness (above hearing threshold)? Great video as usual. Thanks Jack.
Hi. No I have not gone into that because I know that if I did it would create a spike . I want to try as much as I can to make it less important in my life and that includes trying to not know too much about the specifics of my tone and volume. Hope that makes sense. And thank you 🙏
@@thetinnituschannel Yes, that certainly makes sense. Still. My curiosity got the better of me, so I did found out my T characteristics. Drawing attention to T that way, does indeed cause more bothersomeness.
I'm in my second week of a very depressing spike... I have 3 young daughters and it's because of them that I find the strength to carry on and get through this, however, on the flip side to this, they don't help much with their high pitched screams and screeches and god know what other disturbing noises kids make at their age. Think I need to get out for a walk.
@@Tyblubearboy hang in there I'm a grandma with a real screecher so I know what you're talking about they're so sweet and full of life but LOUD like gun shots haha. I'm sole childcare many hours. But worth it. Both of them my happy place. One is guiet as a mouse.
Why don't you contact some entities that are looking for a cure for tinnitus, and help them develop some kind of definitive cure or at least substantial relief? It is necessary to insist with the scientific community regarding this condition. Have you been playing live concerts? Do you often go to bars where live bands play? If so, how do you avoid further damaging your tinnitus? I love playing live and seeing bands live. It's something that's been part of my culture since I was born. It's really hard for me to continue doing it when I have tinnitus.
I'm two and a half years in. Brutal non stop cervicogenic tinnitus. I can't sleep without tablets. Wear a Bluetooth headband playing loud masking sounds 24/7. Feel ill constantly, with a constant spike and pray for death.
Its the worst condition ever! No one i know has it so no one understands. Its always on a spike, its relentless, its like thats all i am now managing this thing no one gives a stuff about! 😮
The sound of air hissing out of punctured tyres is very soothing a nice high pitched white noise . How do you sleep buddy. It doesn't bother me until i try to sleep then its hell and without drugs i can stay awake for 5 days. White noise saves lives .
