So, for the person who wants to be a SBD but doesn't have a CDL yet. How does that whole process work? Does the CDL training come out of pocket or is it covered by the county or school district? I live in Northeast Wisconsin in a rural school district, and CDL training here costs about $4k or more.
I know a lot of school districts have their own trainers and they will train someone to drive and help people that pass the background check to get a CDL’s with the School Bus and Passenger endorsement.
@@OobiesTips Thank you for answering I currently have a CDL class A and working at UPS I would just like to have an extra income working right now with the school district as a custodian but would definitely like to switch to bus driver alot more easier and better pay

I wonder if anybody on this post ever did that whole Harry Potter thing where you are sorted into a house….its a big thing and SO neat! I was sorted into Slytherin 😂
Not even close. Simply speaking is not the same as using your attention to send a text. Completely different things. This bus driver is clearly amazing. Next time there isn’t a bus driver available to drive your kids, don’t complain. People like you are just another reason our schools can’t find operators.
What brand is this hammock please? I’m definitely buying one for my bus 🥰🙏🏼 will be amazing for the competition all day trips & late night football games
Just curious, do you drive high-middle schoolers along with elementary students? Are the schools combined at your school district? Are there multiple routes you take everyday for your students?
Hey sorry for the late reply!! My route has me picking up all students from elementary to high school. We take them to the local elementary school and the students transfer to other buses that take them to the school they attend. As for me from the elementary school I now take the 8th grade to the middle school.
For sure! As a driver a field trip is suck a reward - like a mini vacay. Especially if you’re sent with a good group of people can turn into a fun adventure or go on your own - love how we get into to aquarium & zoo so many neat places I would probably never go on my own or pay for normally.
some of the buses are made in Canada so they run forever, you don't have to sleep in the vehicle especially while its in motion like truck drivers does, don't have to wait in long lines just to fuel your rig, don't have to scale your vehicle, and DOT officers don't bother School bus drivers like they do with Truck drivers, and don't have to deal with typos on bill of laden where there a wrong trailers number or I end up seeing the empty trailer when I find an assign trailer like last night, and no fear of having a trailer separation accident.
What are the hours you work when you drive the bus? Like beginning to the end of your morning shift. And the beginning to the end of your afternoon shift? How much time in between shifts do you get?
It’s cool how you interact with your kids. I am a school bus driver too but I’m autistic and it’s really hard for me to be social even though I want to be
